Abstract: A method for converting expended plastic water bottles and other plastic beverage bottles into artificial landscape rocks and edging blocks by cutting a flap in an empty plastic bottle, filling the bottle with empty, crushed food cans, or compacted, expended plastic bottles, sealing the flap with wire lath and screws, wrapping the bottle with mason lath or chicken wire, or coating the bottle with a bonding agent, applying a stucco coating to the bottle, brushing the wet stucco, and coloring the stucco with a pigmenting agent.

  • Patent number: 7842348
Abstract: Method and device for ensuring high yields during spraying of a settable slurry composition. The slurry is conveyed through a length of hose to a nozzle spray-orifice, and a set accelerator is introduced into the slurry at a distance “D” from the nozzle spray-orifice. The level of accelerator is monitored using a sensor located in the slurry path at a point after the set accelerator is injected. A preferred sensor comprises two pairs of conductivity sensors each having an annular body with a bore corresponding to the diameter of the hose or nozzle bore. Voltage of the slurry can be correlated to yields obtained when a salt-based accelerator fluid is injected into the slurry, such that levels of accelerator can be finely adjusted, and consistently high yields of spray coatings can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7842335
Abstract: A chemical composition and method for repairing a thermal barrier coating on a component designed for use in a hostile thermal environment, such as turbine, combustor and augmentor components of a gas turbine engine. The method repairs a thermal barrier coating on a component that has suffered localized damage to the thermal barrier coating. After cleaning the surface area of the component exposed by the localized spallation, a paste-like mixture of a ceramic composition comprising ceramic powders and nano-sized ceramic materials in a binder, further including an accelerant, is applied to the surface area of the component, and is optionally smoothed using mechanical means. The composition is then allowed to dry and cure to form a dried coating having polymeric characteristics. Upon subsequent heating, the dried coating reacts to produce a glassy ceramic repair coating.

  • Patent number: 7736703
Abstract: An artificial hollow core boulder and method of fabrication. A plastic trash bag is loosely filled with newspaper, tied shut, and wrapped with a layer of chicken wire. The chicken wire wrapped bag is hand pressed into a boulder like shape and a hole is cut into the chicken wire at the bottom of the wrapped bag. Wet stucco mix is troweled over the chicken wire and the wire is lightly pulled away from the plastic. A second layer of stucco mix is troweled over the dried first layer of stucco. A hole is cut in the plastic bag through the hole in the chicken wire and the newspapers are removed. The hollow core artificial boulder is filled through the hole with expended, crushed, cans and plastic bottles. The hole is sealed with chicken wire and stucco. The completed boulder is sealed with penetrating acid stain or latex stain.
