Abstract: The Skylight Escape System of the present invention includes a roof curb which defines an escape opening to the roof therewithin. A pair of spaced guides project upwardly from opposite sides of the curb and a pair of spaced tracks are provided immediately adjacent thereto. A movable skylight which upwardly carries a translucent panel is formed with cooperating slides, which slides are in sliding engagement within the spaced tracks. The application of longitudinally directed forces to portions of the skylight causes the skylight to move along the tracks relative to the curb to expose the opening for building escape purposes.

Abstract: Sliding door apparatus for closing large openings in large building structures. The invention is characterized by a sliding door engaged with a building structure and having at least one edge aligned to slide parallel to a portion of the door frame, the edge and frame portion defining a gap therebetween and constituting two relatively moveable adjacent members one of which has a magnetically receptive surface extending along the gap, the other having a flexible magnetic sealing strip along the gap and spanning the gap to magnetically engage the surface when the sliding door is closed.

  • Patent number: 4165553
Abstract: A support device pivotally supports a resilient body on the leading surface of a sliding door frame in a manner whereby the gravitational force on the body moves the body between a sliding door and the frame. The body is manually movable away from the door and the frame, so that the body is positioned by gravitational force in abutment with the leading surface of the door when the door is closed. This permits the door to be securely closed with its leading edge in abutment with the frame. The body is interposed by gravitational force between the leading edge of the door and the frame when the door is open thereby preventing the door from closing fully by preventing the leading edge of the door from abutting the frame and thus protecting hands from being crushed between the door and the frame.

  • Patent number: 4158272
Abstract: There is shown a frame in a truck cab which has an elongated lower straight portion, an elongated shorter upper portion that is curved or bowed upwards, and side portions extending between the ends of such lower and upper portions, and sashes movable along the lower portion. Fixed panes are positioned in the end portions of the frame, and the sashes are slidable so their upper ends move apart a significant distance before engaging the upper frame portion, and such distance is sufficient that in their closed positions the sashes have greater headroom in the upper frame section than the depth to which their lower ends extend into the lower frame section. Such sashes are non-removable via U-shaped or box-like guide elements secured to their lower ends, such elements having spring-like walls with flanges which extend laterally below and in interference relation with shoulder ribs in the frame.

  • Patent number: 4127968
Abstract: A debris-collecting assembly for a sliding door track in which a door is slidably mounted in an elongate lower channel of a door frame for movement between open and closed positions, and a top-open pan is removably located in the channel, the pan being open at one end to receive debris swept along the channel when the door is in its open position, and to receive the door in its closed position. An elongate track is in the channel and slidably engages the door, the track being spaced from a closed channel end to provide a compartment, and the pan is removably located in the channel compartment with the open pan end facing toward the track. In a double door assembly a pair of channels are disposed in side-by-side relation with a door slidably mounted in each channel. A passage between the channels places the channels in communication.

  • Patent number: 4121392
Abstract: An extensible partition utilizes a hollow rectangular elongated partition for erection in a generally vertical plane having spring loaded devices extending upwardly and downwardly from the uppermost and lowermost marginal edges thereof, a slot, extending vertically along a vertical marginal edge of the apparatus, communicates to the hollowed out cavity portion of the panel, so as to provide access throughout the length of the cavity, extending substantially for the entire length of the panel. A plurality of arms are utilized having one end of each pivotably secured to individual helically wound spring members. In one embodiment, the other end of the helical springs are pivotably secured to an accordion-like pleated member which, when not in use, is stored within the cavity. When the accordion, pleated-like member is withdrawn the arms are positioned horizontally such that the springs are likewise positioned horizontally when they are tensioned, keeping tensioning forces on the pleated-like flexible member.
