Abstract: An exterior window unit is adapted to cover an opening in a building wall. An adapter sill member has a vertical and a horizontal section adapted to be secured, respectively, to an exterior vertical and a horizontal top surface of a fixed sill in the building wall, the adapter sill member having a first engaging means extending along its lower edge. A frame sill of the unit has a mounting means having a vertical and a horizontal portion adapted to be secured, respectively, to the vertical and horizontal sections of the adapter sill member, the frame sill having a second mounting means having a second engaging means which engages the first engaging means.

Abstract: A fume hood is provided having an air intake and an air exhaust communicating with each other through the interior of a fume hood cabinet by way of a by-pass passageway and open front on said cabinet. A plurality of sashes are carried by track means which enable them to move selectively horizontally relative to each other across the open front of the fume hood cabinet to variably open and close the same selectively and relative to the open front. Means connected to the sashes provided for coincidental selective movement therewith to variably close and open the communication of air between the air intake and air exhaust through the by-pass passageway of the fume hood cabinet according to the selective movement of said sashes.

Abstract: A window sash intended for use in conjunction with windows of homes or buildings. The invention comprises a short sash constructed of varying designs, materials and dimensions in order that it may work in conjunction with all window units in the building trade. It is to be inserted into the existing tracks of the window unit for which it is intended. The said invented sash is intended to replace the existing lower window sash of any window that may be chosen as the recipient for a receptacle such as an air conditioner window unit or window fan and the like.

Abstract: This is a closer for sliding doors which includes a coil spring and a cushioning element in combination therewith and is specifically constructed to facilitate attaching the same to a sliding door and the invention also includes the method and apparatus for attaching the closer.

Abstract: An exterior window unit for covering an opening in a building wall includes a frame sill which is slidable coupled with an elongated attachment plate member to be secured to a top surface of the fixed sill of a normally present window assembly in the building wall. To effect such coupling, the frame sill has a mounting fin having engaging means with a groove formed longitudinally therethrough. The attachment plate member has an engaging member which is complementary in cross-section to and received in the groove in the engaging means. The attachment plate member is thus positionable longitudinally relative to the mounting fin so as to be able to be interposed snugly between the side jambs of the normally present window assembly.

Abstract: A self-closing refrigerator door of the sliding type having an upper channel into which is received a track depending from the upper portion of the door frame, a series of rollers supporting the door on a track projecting from the lower portion of the door frame, adjustable energy producing closing means having means releaseably engageable with the lower portion of the door frame beneath the door so that upon opening a closing force is exerted upon the door by the biasing action of the energy producing closing means sufficient to cause it to close on the door frame.

Abstract: In a window assembly having a pair of sashes mounted within a supporting frame for relative horizontal movement, each sash is integrally provided with a pair of opposed rims defining an outwardly open channel along each of its top and bottom horizontal members and along one of its side vertical members which is to be held against one of the jambs of the supporting frame upon closure of the sash. When the sashes are moved to their closed positions, a plurality of vertical rolls mounted in selected positions inside the channels of each sash ride on respective raised roll seats formed on stationary flanges intruding into the respective channels from the supporting frame. Upon resulting lateral displacement of the sashes relative to the supporting frame, sealing strips also arranged internally of the channels become pressed against the flanges.

Abstract: A modular planter panel system comprising a plurality of substantially identical modules forms decorative room dividers, partitions, or the like, by utilizing climbing plants such as ivy or vines. Each module substantially comprises: a frame; a planter box fixedly attached to the bottom portion of the frame and including the climbing plant; and relatively flexible means connecting associated portions of the frame for supporting the growing portions of the plant. Further means are included for supporting the module from the ceiling, from a horizontal overhead track, from a wall, or on the floor.
