  • Patent number: 10617327
Abstract: A person support apparatus, such as a bed, stretcher, cot, recliner, or the like, includes an exit detection system having a plurality of force sensors that support the weight of an occupant positioned on a support surface. The force sensors are part of an exit detection system that issues an alarm when the occupant exits, or is about to exit, the person support apparatus. The distribution of weight applied to the force sensors is used to determine if the occupant is about to exit the person support apparatus. Compensation is made to the exit detection system for changes in the weight distribution that are not caused by movement of the occupant. Such changes may be due to siderail movement, support surface pivoting, and/or movement of other components of the person support apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9867478
Abstract: This disclosure concerns a wireless communication system adapted to produce a closed-loop feedback scheme between a handheld remote control and an adjustable bed controller. The adjustable bed controller is adapted to, in response to a receipt of a motion command from the handheld remote control via the closed-loop feedback scheme, adjust, with feedback, a portion of an adjustable bed. The feedback is based on a comparison of sensor feedback and a predetermined position stored in a memory of the adjustable bed controller. The handheld remote control can receive, through the closed-loop feedback scheme, a returned confirmation reflecting the state of the position of the bed segment in response to the control signal.

  • Patent number: 9848839
Abstract: An diagnostic X-ray radiography device and system whereby a subject (M) can be placed on and taken off of an imaging bed safely, easily, and comfortably. In the device and system a placement-accommodating-state memory (21) stores a plurality of placement-accommodating states each consisting of an imaging bed (1) position and orientation and an X-ray tube (4) position that accommodate a given placement state of the subject (M). A placement-accommodating-state control unit (22) is provided that, if a desired placement-accommodating state is specified from among the plurality of placement-accommodating states by means of a control panel (11), makes the position of the imaging bed (1) and the position of the X-ray tube (4) conform to the specified placement-accommodating state. A placement-accommodating state is thus set automatically, so that the subject (M) can be placed and removed from the imaging bed (1) easily without a collimator (4a) attached to the X-ray tube (4) getting in the way.

  • Patent number: 9830424
Abstract: Systems and methods of associating beds and/or rooms and/or patients are provided. One system and method involves using a signature of emitted light to determine a location of a patient bed in a healthcare facility. Another system and method involves reading a bar code from an array of redundant bar codes. Still another system and method involves manually entering location information on a graphical user interface of a patient bed for subsequent transmission. A further system and method involves sending bed ID and location ID along parallel paths from two independent circuits on a patient bed for receipt by two different transceivers and ultimately by two different remote computers that cooperate to associate the bed ID with the location ID. Still a further system and method involves using circuitry on a bed to mutate a received location ID and a bed ID into a single unique mutated ID such as by adding the location ID and bed ID and then performing a hashing operation.
