Cutting Patents (Class 56/229)
  • Patent number: 4685280
Abstract: An inproved cutting unit specially suited for grooming turf includes a frame supporting a conventional horizontally mounted driven reel having a number of spirally arranged blades. The cutting unit is supported on the ground by front and rear rollers. The front roller is a slotted expunger roller having numerous annular slots along its axis. Immediately behind the expunger roller is mounted a knife roller which includes numerous vertically oriented knife blades aligned with the circular slots of the expunger roller. As the expunger roller rolls along turf, horizontally lying plant material is pulled or puckered up by the expunger roller into the circular slots. The knife roller, driven at a high rate of speed about its own axis, pulls up and slices through the pulled up plant material.

  • Patent number: 4325209
Abstract: A self-propelled crop harvester having a header for harvesting crop material, a macerator for shredding the crop into small particles, a press for separating the crop material into liquid and fibrous fractions, a blower for conveying the fibrous fraction into a trailing wagon, a separator for separating the liquid fraction into a protein portion and a heated deproteinized juice, and a system for directing the deproteinized juice in a high pressure flow to cut the standing crop at the header. In another embodiment the heated juice is applied to the standing crop to moisten and heat the crop for more efficient subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 4018255
Abstract: A tree saw for sawing trees beneath ground level. A saw blade is attached to the front end of a land vehicle which has furrow forming blades on the sides thereof. Movable cutting bits are pivotally attached to the saw blade longitudinal side edges and each bit has two cutting edges. One cutting edge contacts a tree during a forward stroke of the saw blade to cut the tree, and the other cutting edge contacts the tree on the reverse stroke to cut the tree. A hydraulic cylinder connected to the land vehicle moves the blade sideways to cut the tree while the vehicle moves forward and/or rearward.

  • Patent number: 3942308
Abstract: A combination power driven lawn mower and lawn care chemical dispensing machine is disclosed in which a hopper for dry granular chemicals is affixed to the top of the lawn mower frame in such a manner that the chemical may be dispensed over an area defined by the swath of lawn cut by the blade. In one embodiment, a trough type of hopper is positioned between the rear axles of the mower and has a dispensing area whose width is the diameter of the blade arc. In an alternative embodiment, a special type of dispensing blade is employed which is connected to the hopper by means of a communicating trunk cut through the bedplate of the mower.
