  • Patent number: 5934121
Abstract: A lock apparatus includes a lock device and a coded key. The lock device has a lock shell and a cylindrical lock core unit received in the lock shell. The lock core unit has an axial key hole and is provided with a latch actuator. The key is extendible into the key hole and is operable so as to permit rotation of the lock core unit relative to the lock shell for moving the latch actuator from a locking position to an unlocking position. The key has a head portion and a shank portion which has a cross-section in the form of a circular sector with first and second planar surfaces that extend along length of the shank portion, and a curved surface that interconnects the first and second planar surfaces and that has an arc length greater than 180.degree.. The shank portion is formed with a plurality of key bit projections and key bit grooves on one of the first and second planar surfaces.

Abstract: A cylinder lock-key-combination, which comprises a lock body (5) having a lock cylinder (6) which is arranged to control a bolt element (4) connected thereto and which encloses a set of locking discs (7) provided with peripheral notches (13) and being symmetrical so that the cutting range of the peripheral notches (13) determining the opening combination of the lock is located on both sides of their axis of symmetry (A). A locking bar (9;10) which in its locked position is located partly in a groove (12) made in the inner surface of the lock body (5) and partly in a slot (17) in the lock cylinder (6) prevents turning of the lock cylinder (6) with regard to the lock body (5). • Patent number: 5490405
Abstract: A disc cylinder lock mechanism comprises a cylinder housing, an inner cylinder turnable inside the cylinder housing, and a stack of discs inside the inner cylinder. The discs define respective key openings which form a key channel for receiving a key. The stack of discs includes several locking discs, and the lock mechanism is in a releasing condition when each locking disc is in a predetermined releasing angular position. Each locking disc has a protrusion that extends toward the central part of the key opening and has first and second adjacent and substantially perpendicular edges. A guiding element extends longitudinally over the stack of discs in the key channel. The key has a combination surface for each locking disc and is formed to engage the guiding element when the key is inserted in the key channel for turning the guiding element continuously with the key when the key is turned in the lock.

  • Patent number: 5293764
Abstract: A safety lock for house doors and the like, adapted to be operated by a key having a front active profile (3), comprises an outer drum member (4), a cylindrical body (9) rotatably mounted with respect to the drum member and arranged within the latter and a number of safety plates (29) having notches (29a), housed internally to a cavity (13) of the cylindrical body and pivotally mounted around a pin (30). A tab (27) prevents, when the lock is locked, the rotation of the cylindrical body (9) with respect to the drum member (4). By inserting the key in the keyhole, the safety plates reach a reciprocal position which is such that the notches (29a) define a seat which receives the tab (27) thereby unlocking the lock. A cam member (33), which is tiltalble around the pin (30) and is urged by a spring (24), brings the tab back in the locking position when the key is withdrawn. By the oscillating arrangement of the safety plates (29) and the cam member (33), a lock of reduced axial bulk is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4953420
Abstract: A low keylock unit includes an electrical switch unit. A pair of laterally spaced locking levers are pivotally mounted within a rotatable lock tube. The tube extends inwardly into a contact carrier rotatably mounted at the inner end of the switch housing for selective rotation thereof. A rotating switch is coupled to the carrier and selectively engages a fixed contact on a back plate closing the housing. Each lever includes a control leg between a key opening and the pivot and a lock leg between the pivot and the switch unit. A resilient element such as a coil spring compressed between the lock legs or an integral cross between the levers, bears the levers with the lock legs engaging locking grooves on the housing wall to prevent rotation of the tube and the switch unit. A flat key inserted into the lock deflects the legs and pivots the levers outwardly to release the lock legs. If the key is too wide, the control legs move outwardly into the grooves and maintain the locked state.

    Patent number: 4895036
Abstract: A key for use with a lock having internally lugged tumblers comprises an elongate cylindrical member with a longitudinal keyway to receive the lugs. From the longitudinal keyway extend a plurality of circumferential grooves of coded lengths. From the ends of certain of these circumferential grooves extend second, axial grooves which extend back toward the handle of the key. These axial grooves permit the key to be pushed inwardly into the lock after the key has been fully turned. One of the circumferential grooves does not include an axial segment extending from the end thereof. This groove engages a member in the lock which is caused to move when the key is pushed inwardly after rotation. The movement of this lock member activates a printing mechanism inside the lock.

Abstract: A cylinder lock comprising a fixed cylinder housing and therein a turnable cylinder and a lock mechanism locking the cylinder to the cylinder housing. The turning of the cylinder is performed by means of the key of the lock after the key has set the lock mechanism in a cylinder-releasing position. Force transmission from the key to the cylinder is arranged to take part, in a first stage of the function of the lock, through a slipping clutch so arranged that when the turning force of the key exceeds a certain value, the elements enclosed in the cylinder and directly connected to the key are able to slip relatively to the cylinder in the turning direction of the key, in case the key has not set the lock mechanism in its correct cylinder-releasing position.

Abstract: A key operated rotary core cylinder lock having rotary disc tumblers arranged in a pack with intervening spacer members within a rotary core sleeve normally held against rotation within the lock casing by a locking bar which spans the shear line between the disc tumbler peripheries and the confronting wall of the rotary core sleeve or shell. Gates are provided in the disc tumblers to be aligned by an appropriate key with the locking bar for releasing the plug for rotation, and the spacer members are of a truncated triangular cross-sectional configuration having rounded corners bearing against and positioned by the cylindrical bore in the core sleeve and have flat side portions between the rounded corners and larger radius center openings than the radii of the key openings in the disc tumblers to provide spaces for accommodating foreign matter contaminants. Exposed shackle padlocks incorporating such rotary core cylinder lock components are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4336700
Abstract: A cylinder lock comprising a non-rotatable cylinder housing and therein a key operated lock mechanism including a turnable cylinder and a plurality of movable locking discs. When the locking discs are in their zero position, that is, their normal position before the key is inserted into the lock, they keep the lock mechanism in a locked position, in which the cylinder is prevented from turning relatively to the cylinder housing. The locking discs are movable by the key to a cylinder releasing position, and the key forces the locking discs back to their zero position after operation of the lock mechanism. There are spring means arranged to urge at least some of the locking discs in a direction away from their cylinder releasing position towards their zero position. With respect to the normal function of the lock mechanism these spring means are functionally redundant. Their only function is to provide an improved security against lock picking.

Abstract: A cylinder lock comprising a stationary cylinder housing and therein a turnable cylinder inclosing a plurality of tumbler discs turnable by means of the key of the lock. There is also a locking bar normally locking the cylinder non-turnably to the cylinder housing. When the tumbler discs have been brought to a releasing position, the locking bar can move closer to the center of the lock into a groove formed by alignment of peripheral recesses in the tumbler discs, and this releases the cylinder from its locking. In the lock there is also at least one composite tumbler disc including two parts, a first part and a second part, which are angularly adjustably connected to each other. The first part can be turned with a key. Within an adjustment sector the first part has such a small radial extension that it leaves the locking bar free to move radially to its cylinder-releasing position.
