  • Patent number: 8720242
Abstract: The present invention provides a rolling mill of a plate or a sheet which eliminates rolling trouble due to warping of the rolled material and wavy shaped flatness defects running through the plate or sheet width direction such as “waviness”, “full waves, and “small waves” by providing a pair of a top and bottom work rolls, a pair of electric motors independently driving the pair of rolls, and control means for controlling one electric motor using the roll rotational speed as a control target value and controlling the other electric motor using the rolling torque applied to the rolled material from the work roll driven by that electric motor becoming substantially constant as a control target and using the drive torque as a control amount and a control technique of such a rolling mill of a plate or a sheet.

  • Patent number: 8490447
Abstract: In a method and a control device for adjusting a state of a rolling stock, particularly a near-net strip, defined at least by an out-of-parallel condition and/or a curvature of the rolling stock, the rolling stock is transitioned from an initial into an intermediate state by a roll stand and by impressing a stress onto the rolling stock by an additional processing device, and the rolling stock is transitioned from the intermediate into a final state by at least one processing aggregate. By determining whether rolling stock should be fed into the at least one processing aggregate, the intermediate state requiring a non-zero out-of-parallel condition and/or curvature in order to achieve a predetermined final state, and the roll stand and/or the processing device are controlled and/or regulated as a function thereof to adjust the required intermediate state, the shape reliability of an ultimately parallel, non-curved rolling stock can be increased.

  • Patent number: 8307678
Abstract: A gauge control apparatus reduces deviation of an actual plate thickness from a target plate thickness on the delivery side of a rolling mill, in all speed ranges, and produces good products by controlling plate thickness considering changes in the oil film thickness of oil film bearings of backup rolls and the deformation resistance of a rolled material with respect to rolling speeds. The gauge control apparatus computes an oil film thickness compensation value to compensate for increase and decrease of the gap resulting from a change in thickness of the oil film bearing attributable to rolling speeds, an acceleration compensation value to compensate for increase and decrease of plate thickness on the delivery side of the rolling mill resulting from a change in deformation resistance of the rolled material attributable to rolling speeds, and deviation of the predicted plate thickness from the target plate thickness, in consideration of the computed compensation values.

  • Patent number: 8302440
Abstract: A thickness control apparatus of a reversing rolling mill has an entry thickness gauge that measures the thickness of the material to be rolled, and entry material speed detector that detects the speed of the material to be rolled. Measured thickness measured by the entry thickness gauge is tracked on the basis of the speed of the material to be rolled detected by the entry material speed detector. A mill delivery thickness calculator calculates thickness on the delivery side of the reversing rolling mill on the basis of the thickness on the entry side and the roll gap detected.

  • Patent number: 8296081
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for obtaining material information regarding steel sheet for shipping over the entire length of the steel sheet for shipping without spending too much time and effort, providing detailed material information in large volumes to a user through a computer and network, and having the user utilize the same. Specifically, it estimates the mechanical properties of temper rolled steel sheet based on the actual rolling data in a skinpass mill installed at the exit side of the continuous annealing line or galvanization facility and provides the estimated mechanical properties through the host computer and network to the user of the steel sheet. The user can use the estimated material information so as to remove the parts defective in mechanical properties or change the press forming conditions of the steel sheet. Further, the user can feed back information to the steel sheet manufacturer.

  • Publication number: 20110120202
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for suppression of oscillations in a rolling installation is described. By means of a hydraulic roller engagement third-octave oscillations are effectively suppressed, thus making it possible to improve the quality of the rolled material and/or the productivity of the rolling installation. A manipulated variable is supplied to an electrohydraulic actuating element that acts on at least one hydraulic actuator for the roller engagement and has a rated flow rate of ?50 l/min. At least a portion of the frequency response at frequencies f?80 Hz has a magnitude drop of ?3 dB, and the phase lag ? in this frequency range satisfies the conditions f?19·{square root over (?)}+3.1·10?6·?4 and ?<90°.

  • Publication number: 20100064748
Abstract: This invention relates to a rolling mill apparatus and a method of shape control of a rolled strip which enables satisfactory shape control even in extremely thin rolling. A rolling mill apparatus of this invention has a rolling mill, which rolls a rolled strip P between upper and lower work rolls; a shape detecting portion, which detects the degree of flatness of the rolled strip in the width direction of rolled strip which has been rolled by the rolling mill; a spray portion, having a plurality of spray nozzles arranged along the length direction of the upper and lower work rolls, which sprays the upper and lower work rolls with coolant C; and, a shape control portion, which adjusts the spray amount and/or temperature of the coolant C sprayed from the spray portion based on detected information from the shape detecting portion, to control the shape of the rolled strip P.

  • Patent number: 7475581
Abstract: A method of increasing control precision of a path of a product in a leveling machine including: a fixed support cage; two leveling assemblies with parallel rollers, which are placed above and below the strip respectively; devices necessary to adjust the interlocking of the rollers; a mechanism for measuring leveling forces at least of two sides of the machine; and a theoretical pre-setting model. The method directly measures at least one value for the spacing of the leveling rollers, which is compared to reference values, and uses the members for adjusting the position of the leveling rollers to maintain the measured values equal to the reference values. The method is particularly suitable for machines used to level flat metal products.

  • Patent number: 7461532
Abstract: A monitoring and alarm system is disclosed for a rolling mill in which oil is pumped from a reservoir via feed piping and branch feed lines to oil film bearings and oil is returned from the bearings via branch drain lines and return piping to the reservoir. The system comprises sensors positioned in at least one of the branch feed lines, the branch return lines and the bearings. The sensors are operative to sense diverse parameters indicative of bearing operating conditions and to generate status signals representative thereof. A controller evaluates the status signals and triggers warning signals when the status signals indicate that the bearings are in danger of being damaged by continued operation. Alarms respond to the warning signals and alert mill operating personnel to such danger.

  • Patent number: 7188496
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting the vibrations of a roll stand (1) equipped with a hydraulic jack (6) as a device for adjusting the rolling rolls (4, 5). The hydraulic jack comprises a sensor (64) for measuring the position of the mobile portion relative to the fixed portion, this sensor supplying a digital signal (POS). In the method of the invention, the vibrations are detected by direct observation of the position signal (POS) and a comparison thereof relative to a spatio-temporal window (F) whose dimensions are determined as a function of the frequency to be detected. • Patent number: 6871521
Abstract: A method of operating a bending press, in particular an edging press, and a bending press for carrying out this method. For each drive of a drive arrangement, the actual pressing force is detected for the displaceable press beam during a bending process for the workpiece and a relative position of the pressing tool or tools by reference to the longitudinal extension of the press beams is determined on the basis of a force ratio. Different displacement paths of the drives and the displaceable press beam at the respective force-application point of the drive are then determined in an evaluation and/or computer unit, which is provided with a data memory for production and machine data, and corresponding control signals for the drive system are generated in the control unit and actuator elements of the drives are displaced by the displacement paths determined for each drive.
