Abstract: A fishing line system is provided for attachment onto a fishing rod having a mounting member with front and rear carriers thereon. A plurality of line guide wheels are mounted in each of the front and rear carriers. Line from the conventional reel on the rod passes around the line guide wheels on its way to the tip of the rod. Inertial energy of the rotating guide wheels with the line tends to smooth out line velocity, and line stretch over the longer length of line tends to reduce peaks in line tension.
Abstract: Highway trailer for hauling cargo has air actuated brakes. Valve mounted on the trailer connected in the air line maintains brake-on air pressure in the line while trailer is parked. Valve has locking handle to inhibit trailer theft.
Abstract: Basket is mounted on slides which detachably and adjustably mount the basket on a wheelchair for convenient utilization by a person having strength in only one arm. A tray is detachably positionable within the top of the basket for use as a writing top or the like.
Abstract: Handle guard is positioned with respect to the cover of a toilet seat so that when the toilet seat cover is raised, the handle guard is positioned adjacent the flush handle on the toilet tank to inhibit access to the flush handle. In order to achieve access to the flush handle, the user must pull the handle guard away, which causes closure of the toilet seat cover.
Abstract: In deep fat frying, the shortening breaks down to be unuseable. The shortening management method and apparatus of this invention evaluates the effect of temperature, time and the kind and amount of product cooked in the deep fat fryer and utilizes look up table means in a computing circuit to signal when the shortening is becoming unuseable.
Abstract: An elongated temperature-sensing probe is positioned in a deep fat cooking vessel and is positioned so that a portion of the probe extends adjacent the electric heater submerged in the deep fat adjacent the bottom of the vessel, and a portion extends upward in the fat into the cooking zone in the vessel. The temperature-sensing probe is connected to control the power to the heater. The heater is thermally connected to the probe so that the probe receives direct conduction heat from the heater as well as senses the heat adjacent the heater and in the cooking zone.
Abstract: The device is formed with flanges at right angles to each other which can engage the edge and side of a solar panel and be secured thereto. The device has a handgrip thereon for manual handling of the solar panel during transportation and installation. The device has openings therein for securing the solar panel in place during transportation and at installation.
Abstract: First and second stop bodies are arranged to clamp around the lever of a pedal which operates an apparatus. When the stop bodies are locked in place, the pedal cannot be operated and, thus, the apparatus is restrained.
Abstract: Stretch-wrap film on a roll is utilized by manual grasp on handles mounted on each end of the roll and freely rotatable thereon. A brake ring under at least one index finger can be clamped by that finger onto the spindle running with the stretch-wrap film roll, to apply braking and consequent stretch-wrap film tension.
Abstract: Chair support pivotably carries parallelogramic support arms which are pivoted to seat rails. One of the support arms continues above the seat rail to become an arm support and adjacent the top thereof carries one end of a telescoping unit. The other end of the telescoping unit is pivoted to the seat rail. The telescoping unit is of such length that, when the support arms are in the erected position, the telescoping unit bottoms out to become a rigid compression member and provide a firm, erected position.
Abstract: Stretch wrap film is wound on a mandrel or core which is longer than the roll of film to extend out of both ends. A rotatable handle is mounted on the core outboard of the film. Relative braking between the handle and core is adjusted by means of a screwthread which tightens a friction brake. The dispenser is carried around an article to be wrapped and the tension of the film is controlled by adjusting the brake by rotating its controlling nut. With a large core, an extension can be attached to a plug therein. Furthermore, instead of a spiral surface as on a nut and stud, a spring may be used to control brake force.
Abstract: A protective backing is laminated onto the back of a mirror to inhibit scattering of broken glass pieces should the mirror be broken. The process comprises layering an open-weave scrim on the back of the mirror, with a paper coated with adhesive layered onto the scrim to adhesively attach the scrim and paper onto the back of the mirror. The article produced has the paper adhesively attached both to the scrim and the mirror.
Abstract: Lens system for 3-D filming comprises a pair of negative achromatic lenses horizontally spaced substantially on the interpupillary distance. Behind these front lenses, a pair of tilted rhomboid prisms fold the optical paths to be closely positioned one above the other. On these paths, rear lens systems focus the images onto the film plane in upper and lower frame halves. The forward negative achromatic lenses are adjustable fore and aft for focus adjustment, and the rear lens systems are laterally adjustable for convergence control.
