  • Patent number: 4346010
Abstract: Fine coal particles are recovered from a slurry of finely divided coal by mixing coarsely divided coal and a binder together to cause the binder to adhere to the surfaces of the coarsely divided coal pieces, mixing the slurry with the coal pieces having the binder adhered thereto to cause fine coal particles to adhere to the binder over the surfaces of the coal pieces serving as nuclei and thereby form agglomerates, and separating the agglomerates from the remaining slurry portion to recover the fine coal particles along with the coarsely divided coal and the binder.

  • Patent number: 4345225
Abstract: In a switch or relay and, more particularly, a power or auxiliary switch or relay with a contact system mounted in a housing, as well as a magnet system which actuates the contact system, considerable difficulties are encountered when the contacts of the contact system are disposed in at least two planes which are disposed at different distances from the mounting plane. In such a case, the contact connecting zones which are facing away from the mounting plane are covered by the wiring for the contact connecting screws which are further displaced from the mounting plane and therefore are not accessible. Since switches or relays of this type are usually installed in large numbers in rows and in a compact arrangement with respect to each other in switch or relay boxes, a predetermined standard width for the switches or relays should not be exceeded.

  • Patent number: 4339046
Abstract: A nursing bottle unit includes an open-ended elongated tubular nursing holder having a neck portion at one open end thereof, a disposable and collapsible liquid-retaining bag open at one end thereof, received within the tubular nursing holder, a plug member at least partially received within the neck portion adapted to clamp a portion of the bag against the internal surface of the neck portion, and a nipple mounted on the neck portion. The plug member has an axial bore formed therethrough and a one-way check valve associated therewith for allowing liquid to be withdrawn from the bag while serving to prevent the entry of air thereinto. In addition, a piston or valve member is provided which, upon withdrawal of the liquid from the bag and as a result of the vacuum generated in the bag and the prevailing ambient atmospheric pressure, causes the bag to collapse so that the effective inner volume of the bag always substantially equals the volume of the liquid remaining therein.

  • Patent number: 4337447
Abstract: In a switch, in particular a power, control or starter switch, a contact system and a magnetic system are provided in a housing whereby the magnetic system actuates the contact system. The contact system is provided with contact bars having rigid contact pieces, as well as actuable bridges with movable contact pieces which are actuated by means of a common bridge, whereby each bridge and the associated contact bars are mounted in a switch chamber. Furthermore, a switch-on contact with a self-locking contact is provided. In switches of this type, it is typically required to hold a switching operation for a longer time period, without necessitating the manually pushing down of a push key. The required separate switch-on contact is typically mounted in a separate large housing.

  • Patent number: 4335739
Abstract: This invention concerns a slider valve in which a sliding block (10) of generally square cross-section (the corners of which are rounded) is a close sliding fit in a circular bore (14) in a body member (16). At right angles to the axis of the bore (14) and communicating therewith are ports (18) each of which is similar. Each port includes a smaller diameter section in which is located a cylindrical pad (22) of a plastics material having a fluid passage (24) formed therethrough to allow fluid from a tube (26) encased within a metal sheath (28) to pass into a port (30 or 32) in the block (10) if the latter is registering therewith. Two or more such valves can be joined by axially aligning and securing together the cylindrical body member 16 and the end of one block (10) will act on the end of an adjoining block (10) in an adjoining valve.

  • Patent number: 4331698
Abstract: A process for producing high purity silicon semiconductor materials and mls by the thermal decomposition of a gaseous compound containing the silicon semiconductor material or metal passing over silicon carrier bodies heated by an external electrical power source. The silicon carrier bodies are arranged into groups coupled in parallel electrical connection across the power source during the start of the deposition process. An equal amount of electrical current is passed through each of the groups of the parallel connection to heat the carrier bodies to deposition temperature. The same current flows in each of the parallel carrier groups by using a current-divider inductor having a winding connected to each group.

  • Patent number: 4330362
Abstract: In the crucible pulling of silicon according to the Czochralski technique, ilicon monoxide forms as a result of the silicon melt reacting with the quartz crucible containing the melt, and evaporates and deposits in the form of solid particles on the upper edge of the crucible, on the monocrystalline rod, on the walls of the vessel, and also on recharging devices in the upper pulling chamber. These solid particles can fall back into the melt and then cause dislocations and polycrystalline growth in the growing silicon rod. As a result of the reaction of the carbon of the hot graphite parts with silicon monoxide, carbon monoxide is also formed and this partially diffuses into the melt and gives rise to carbon impurities in the silicon rod. In addition, because of heat irradiation from the inner wall of the quartz crucible as it becomes more empty, high pulling speeds, such as those usual in crucible-free zone pulling, cannot be obtained.
