  • Patent number: 8251773
Abstract: A control system for a high pressure cutting arrangement is disclosed. The cutting arrangement comprises a liquid stream and a slurry stream, the slurry comprising abrasive particles suspended in a fluid. The liquid stream and the slurry stream are both supplied under pressure of about 300 MPa to a cutting tool, with at least a portion of the supplied pressure being converted to kinetic energy in the cutting tool to produce a combined liquid and abrasive stream at high velocity. The cutting tool includes a combining chamber into which both the liquid and slurry streams are introduced, the pressure in an entry region of the combining chamber being determined by the pressure of the liquid stream. The control system acts to actuate or prevent flow of slurry in the slurry stream by activation or de-activation of an energizing means up-stream of the chamber. Pressure in the slurry stream is substantially equal to the pressure in the entry region of the combining chamber whether or not slurry is flowing.

  • Patent number: 8243872
Abstract: A spacer grid can be applied to close-spaced nuclear fuel rods. The spacer grid is directed to solve the problem in which, as the outer diameter of each nuclear fuel rod increases due to the use of dual-cooled nuclear fuel rods for improving cooling performance and obtaining high combustion and high output power, the gap between the neighboring nuclear fuel rods is narrowed to thus make it impossible to use an existing spacer grid. The spacer grid is a combination of unit grid straps, each of which has supports for supporting each of the nuclear fuel rods set in a narrow array and has a sheet shape, which are combined with each other. The supports are located at positions shifted from the longitudinal central line of each unit grid strap toward sub-channels.

  • Patent number: 8231853
Abstract: A method for producing of ultra-dispersed carbon comprises the steps of introducing gaseous methane and chlorine into passageways (3 and 4) of a burner (2) communicating with a chamber (1) of a reactor, combusting the mixture of methane and chlorine resulting in the formation of a diffusion flame, depositing products of a process of oxidative coupling of methane, separating a suspension containing solid carbon particles, and extracting a desired product. The greater part of the methane stream is fed to the outer boundary of the flame through a branch pipe (6) provided within the reactor chamber. Internal walls of the reactor chamber (1) in the combustion zone of the diffusion flame are washed by means of water stream. The desired product is extracted from the crude product through thermal processing of the solid particles suspension. Utilization of the method essentially increases the mono-dispersed carbon yield in the process of oxidative coupling of methane.
