Abstract: The technical field of the invention broadly relates to injection molding systems and more particularly to cooling of a core used in a mold of an injection molding machine. Cooling a core involves supplying coolant through a lengthwise supply tube that extends within a hollow bore formed in the core. The coolant flows through the supply tube, exiting as a stream of fluid at an open end of the supply tube where the stream contacts a substantially perpendicular inner surface of the core. The stream of fluid is initially deflected by this inner surface on an axis perpendicular to an axis of the original flow producing a stagnation zone in the stream having zero or relatively low velocity. The stagnation zone is adjacent to a high heat gate area and results in poor cooling of the core tip. The invention solves the problem of stagnation by application of a fluid velocity inducer.

Abstract: Silver recovery from a silver-bearing spent photographic solution is achieved by reducing the silver ions to silver metal with an organic reducing agent, especially a photographic developer reagent; in particular a spent photographic developer solution provides a convenient source of reducing agent for the silver recovery; in this case the developer reagents which typically are phenol-type compounds are oxidized leading to a less toxic discharge effluent having a lower COD and BOD.
Abstract: A nuclear fuel spacer grid, fabricated by intersecting a plurality of grid strips and used for placing and supporting a plurality of elongated fuel rods within a nuclear fuel assembly, is disclosed. The spacer grid of this invention has a plurality of dimple vanes on its grid strips. The dimple vanes are designed to guide the coolant from one cell to neighboring cells of the spacer grid, thus accomplishing a desired coolant mixing effect and increasing the thermal allowance of the fuel rods and accomplishing a high performance fuel assembly. The spacer grid also has a multi-spring structure, consist in of one arc-shaped main spring and two bow-shaped sub-springs. The main spring directly supports the fuel rod within the spacer grid, while the sub-springs have the same radius of curvature as that of the external surface of the fuel rod and effectively support the fuel rod when the main spring fails to support the fuel rod.

Abstract: Process for manufacturing cold formed shaped packaging having at least one recess made from a metal-plastic laminate 20. Examples of such shaped forms of packaging are the base parts of push-through packs or blister packs. The process is such that the laminate 20 is held between a retaining tool 5 and a die 1. The die 1 exhibits at least one opening 8 and a stamping tool 6 is driven into the die opening 8 causing the laminate to be shape-formed into the said packaging and, correspondingly, exhibiting one or more recesses. The die 1 and the retaining tool 5 exhibit facing edge regions 11,12, and within the edge region 11 the die 1 exhibits a shoulder region 13 that surrounds the die opening 8 or openings 8. The surface of the shoulder region 13 lies 0.01 to 10 mm lower than the surface of the edge region 11 of the die 1.
Abstract: A valve arrangement with at least two connecting regions and with an actuating device is proposed, the valve body having a lead-through region for guiding a spindle and a receiving housing which encloses at least the lead-through region of the valve body being provided for receiving the means for sensing the valve position. The receiving housing, which can be easily adapted to the respective field of use, can be integrated in a simple manner in existing valve arrangements and the compact and flexible arrangement of the means for sensing the valve position in the receiving housing ensures to an increased extent that the valve position will be correctly indicated.
Abstract: The invention provides a heat pump/engine system having a water/brine flash evaporator in fluid communication with a first air/brine heat exchanger, a brine condenser in fluid communication with a second air/brine heat exchanger, and a vapor compressor/turbine connected on a fluid conduit leading from the flash evaporator to the brine condenser. Heat/pump methods are also provided herein.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of consumable items having an outer jacket made from a flowable mass, which is filled in a mold. A tempered die (5) is immersed into the mold (9) and the mass is extruded. The dew point of the atmosphere around the consumable item is kept below the temperature of the die (5).

Abstract: A pistol, comprising a housing which contains a trigger device and a slide which slides on this housing and contains a barrel and a breech, in which case the breech is provided with a firing bolt which can be driven by a mainspring. In order to provide entirely safe protection against access, the breech has a hole which runs transversely with respect to the firing direction, in which hole a locking bolt can be moved and can be rotated, which locking bolt has a head which is accessible from the outside and, in the locked position, projects into the movement path of the firing bolt. To this end, the head of the locking bolt has at least one tab on its external circumference, and the breech has at least one recess on the internal circumference of the hole, which recess holds the tab when the locking bolt is in the open position.
Abstract: The pistol comprises a housing composed of plastic and a barrel slide (which contains a barrel and a breech and is guided in the longitudinal direction with respect to the housing) as well as a trigger mechanism. In order to allow plastics technology to be used to a large extent, with high precision and easy assembly, a single multifunction part, which is composed of metal, is inserted removably into the housing, on which multifunction part the guides for the barrel slide are formed and in which the elements of the trigger mechanism are mounted and guided. The multifunction part has a hole which holds the disassembly lever shaft and thus produces the connection between the housing and the multifunction part. Furthermore, a recess for a projection of the multifunction part is provided in the rear wall of the housing.
