Abstract: A bag-shaped sword blade section having a throttled opening formed of a sealing and elastic material such as rubber is fitted onto and closely attached to a tip end of a cylindrical-shaped grip formed of a hard material such as wood, a hard rubber, plastics and metals. A gas such as air is filled in the sword blade section to define a cavity. Accordingly, a soft sword is made uniform in quality, and undergoes less degradation in quality even after an extended use.
Abstract: The patent application describes a sandwich-type immunoassay for the detection and/or quantitation of collagen degradation products in biological samples such as blood, serum, plasma, sputum and cell cultures. The immunoassay uses a first antibody directed at an epitope present on a collagen molecule at a distance of up to 165 amino acids from a collagen telopeptide crosslink site, and a second antibody directed at another epitope of the crosslinked collagen molecule.

Abstract: A removable holding device for containers includes two clamp members mounted on a holding body, one of the members being mobile in translation relative to the holding body. A lever mounted on the holding body pivots between a deployed position and a position retracted inside the holding body. A link blade between the lever and the mobile member displaces the mobile member in translation when the lever pivots. The lever has at least one lateral wing portion forming an unlocking button projecting on one side of the holding body when the lever is in the retracted position.
Abstract: A method for production of mono-dispersed and crystalline titanium dioxide ultra fine powders comprises preparing an aqueous titanyl chloride solution, diluting the aqueous titanyl chloride solution to a concentration of between about 0.2 to 1.2 mole and heating the diluted aqueous titanyl chloride solution and maintaining the solution in a temperature range of between 15 to 155.degree. C. to precipitate titanium dioxide. The aqueous titanyl chloride solution is prepared by adding ice pieces of distilled water or icing distilled water to undiluted titanium tetrachloride.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a modular, rotisserie type coating fixture for use in electronic beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) coating processes. The fixture includes a support structure which rotates about a first axis during coating and a plurality of cassettes mounted within the support structure. The cassettes each hold a plurality of workpieces to be coated and are mounted in the support structure so that they rotate about axes parallel to the first axis. This allows each workpiece being coated to rotate about its longitudinal axis and to achieve an evenly distributed, substantially uniform coating on surfaces of the workpiece to be coated.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a store level marketing system and a unique printer to be used in the system. The store level marketing system includes an activation device for initiating use of the system and for providing the system with information about the consumer using it, a network interface or computer for selecting a series of offers/discounts to be printed on a piece of paper, and a printer for printing a paper document containing the selected offers/discounts. The system further includes a checkout station which communicates with the network interface or the computer to provide it with information about the purchases made by the consumer. In a preferred embodiment, the printer is a thermal printer provided with a mechanism for substantially eliminating any curl in the paper being fed into the printer. The curl eliminating mechanism includes a tube which is pressed against the paper to impart a reverse curl to the paper which is opposite to the natural curl of the paper.

Abstract: A bolt anchoring device for insertion into a bore in a concrete ceiling or the like material is provided. The bolt anchoring device comprises an anchor sleeve and a bolt. The anchor sleeve is first inserted in the bore for its provisional or temporary attachment. The bolt is then screwed into the anchor sleeve for permanent attachment of the anchor sleeve and the bolt. In one embodiment, the bolt is removable after permanent attachment of the anchor sleeve. The anchor sleeve has a self-retaining means for retaining itself in the bore at the time of its provisional or temporary attachment. The anchor sleeve has a first end portion having a threaded hole and a second end portion having a plurality axial slits. The bolt has an integral plug portion which is pushed into the second end portion to expand the second end portion and make it cut into an inner wall surface of the bore for thereby firmly securing the anchor sleeve in the bore.
Abstract: Ultra-fine-grained thermoplastics such as polyolefins, for example, having an average particle size D.sub.50 of less than 400 .mu.m and are present in a mixture along with a filler where the amount of filler material in the mixture amounts to 40 to 90% with respect to the mixture. As such ultra-fine-grained thermoplastics cannot be obtained by means of the normal milling process of if so then only with considerable expenditure, the process for manufacturing ultra-fine-grained thermoplastics is performed in such a manner that a mixture containing 10 to 60 wt. % thermoplastics with respect to the mixture and 40 to 90 wt. % filler material with respect to the mixture is ground e.g. in an impact pulverizer, as a result of which thermoplastic particles with an average particle size D.sub.50 less than 400 .mu.m are produced.
