Patent number: 5640872Abstract: In a process for cooling hot rolled metal plates (16) and strips, especially such of aluminium or an aluminium alloy, a hot rolled strip (12) is cut to plates (16) immediately after it emerges from a rolling mill (10). Immediately after the cutting to length, the plates (16) pass through a cooling station (20) where they are jetted directly with water from flat stream nozzles (52). The water stream (W) emerging from the flat stream nozzles (52) form essentially a plane (E) which is directed at the plate surface (32). Immediately after it leaves the flat stream nozzle (52), the water stream (W) is periodically deflected by means of streams (A, B) of air or water in such a manner that the water stream (W) striking the plate surface (32) performs a wiping action.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1995Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Assignee: Alusuisse-Lonza Services Ltd.Inventors: Miroslaw Plata, Malcolm Hill

Patent number: 5641433Abstract: An HIPR (high internal phase ratio) emulsion of oil in water is prepared by directly mixing 70 to 98% by volume of a viscous oil having a viscosity in the range 200 to 250,000 mPa.s at the mixing temperature with 30 to 2% by volume of an aqueous solution of an emulsifying surfactant or an alkali, percentages being expressed as percentages by volume of the total mixture. Mixing is effected under low shear conditions in the range 10 to 1,000 reciprocal seconds in such manner that an emulsion is formed comprising highly distorted oil droplets having mean droplet diameters in the range 2 to 50 micron separated by thin interfacial films. The emulsions are much less viscous than the oils from which they are prepared and may, optionally after dilution, be pumped through a pipeline.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Assignee: Intevep, S.A.Inventors: Maria Luisa Chirinos, Alistair Stewart Taylor, Spencer Edwin Taylor

Patent number: 5640864Abstract: The cylinder lock according to the present invention comprises a latch 19 movably disposed between the joint position connecting the key cylinder 16 and a driver 18 and the release position disengaging the key cylinder 16 and a driver 18; and a clutch 20 for transferring the latch 19 to the release position when a sleeve 13 rotates relatively to a housing 11 with an improper key. When a proper key is inserted into the key cylinder 16, it can be rotated without rotation of the sleeve 13 so that the driver 18 can be rotated to the locked or unlocked position through the latch 19 which drivingly connects the key cylinder 16 and the driver 18. When an improper key is inserted into the key cylinder 16 and rotated, the sleeve 13 is rotated with the key cylinder 16 through tumblers 17 so that radial movement of the clutch 20 disengages the latch 19 and driver 18, thereby preventing unauthorized unlocking of the cylinder lock 10 without rotation of the driver 18.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1994Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Assignee: Alpha CorporationInventor: Keiichi Miyamoto

Patent number: 5637016Abstract: An HF plug connection system with low transfer resistance even in the high frequencies in the range of 10.sup.8 Hz, comprising a standardised socket insert and a corresponding plug as plug connector parts. In this system, an earthed screening (10) runs from cable to cable (16) through both parts of the plug connector. It is connected over a large area to the metal braid (36) of the HF cable (16) of one and/or the other plug connector part, with large surface area throughout in relation to the cross-section, and at least one flexible area (26, 28) outside the insulation sheath (34), and the screening is passed to large contact areas (46) for the complementary part of the plug connector. Thus the cable end can be adjusted to any required angle, which allows a shorter installation length.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Inventor: Fridolin A. Frech

Patent number: 5635874Abstract: The invention relates to an amplifier for audio signals comprising a first (A.sub.1) and a second (A.sub.2) stage having a global feedback loop (B) between the output of the second stage and the input of the first stage, the second stage having a local feedback loop (B.sub.2) between its output and its input. Each feedback loop has a comparator element (C.sub.1). The amplifier comprises a means preventing the offset voltage present at the output of the first stage (A.sub.1) from being reinjected as input by feedback (in particular via the amplifier output). The local feedback loop (B.sub.2) is such that the second stage (A.sub.2) receives feedback at least continuously. The low frequency interference signals produced in the second stage (A.sub.2) are reduced by the feedback of the second stage (A.sub.2).Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Inventor: Gerard Perrot
