Abstract: A DC-DC converter for overvoltage protection is provided with a primary control circuit 12 which comprises an impedance controller 31 and a protective circuit 41 for ceasing operation of primary control circuit 12 when power source voltage VCC on primary control circuit 12 exceeds a predetermined voltage level. Impedance controller 31 comprises a potential detector 32 for picking out power source voltage VCC to primary control circuit 12 to produce a detection signal; and an impedance adjuster 33 for adjusting power input impedance Z in primary control circuit 12 in response to the detection signal from potential detector 32 to repress rapid rise in power source voltage on primary control circuit 12.
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a system and a method for index reorganization using a partial index transfer in a spatial data warehouse that minimize costs of search, split and readjustment for the index reorganization by organizing and transferring clusters with partial indexes in conformity with an index structure so that the partial indexes can be inserted directly into the existing index, thus ensuring continuous and stable data processes, the index reorganization method comprising: a first step of clustering data extracted from the source database in conformity with an index structure via the builder; a second step of generating partial indexes and transferring the partial indexes to a cluster generated according to the clustering; a third step of recording the transferred partial indexes in physically consecutive spaces, not allocated, in the spatial data warehouse server; and a fourth step of inserting the recorded partial indexes in an existing index.

Abstract: A method for producing particle shaped material from a melt. The method comprises the following steps: the material is melted, the material melt is intimately mixed with a gas in a predetermined ratio; the gas-liquid mixture is suddenly expanded and the material powder thus produced is collected, which the other gas is added to according to a predetermined air/liquid ratio during the expansion with solidification of the formed material drop, to form a material powder having a controlled size distribution and shape in an area of lower pressure than the gas/liquid mixture.
Abstract: A turbine engine component, such as a turbine engine blade, has an airfoil portion with a pressure side wall and a suction side wall, a plurality of ribs extending between the pressure side wall and the suction side wall, and a plurality of supply cavities located between the ribs. The component further has an arrangement for cooling the airfoil portion. The cooling arrangement comprises a first cooling circuit embedded within the suction side wall for convectively cooling the suction side wall, a second cooling circuit embedded within the pressure side wall for cooling the pressure side wall, and a third passageway for increasing a temperature of at least one of the ribs by conduction.
Abstract: A vane cluster has a platform, a shroud, and at least first and second airfoils extending between an outer face of the platform and an inner face of the shroud. Each airfoil has a pressure side and a suction side. The pressure side of the first airfoil faces the suction side of the second airfoil. The cluster includes a cooling passageway system. The system includes at least one inlet in the shroud. At least one first feed passageway extends from the shroud to the platform through the first airfoil. At least one second feed passageway extends from the shroud to the platform through the second airfoil. A first platform cooling plenum is to the pressure side of the first airfoil. A second platform cooling plenum is to the suction side of the first airfoil.

Abstract: A filler neck for the fuel tank of a motor vehicle, comprising a flap and a locking element. The filler neck is designed such that it is impossible to fill the tank with the wrong fuel. The foregoing is achieved by the fact that the flap can be rotated about a hinge pin which is three-dimensionally movable and while the flap is retained by at least two elements that are pivotable about one respective pin. One of the pivotable elements supports the hinge pin of the flap while another pivotable element is configured as a locking lever that is disposed across from the hinge pin.
Abstract: A recipient has a body designed to contain a fluid and an orifice by which the fluid may be introduced into the body. The recipient is equipped with a system for the sterile transfer of the fluid from inside the body. The transfer system comprises a deformable and impervious wall, wherein the wall is positioned with respect to the recipient so that it forms a closed and sterile space inside which the orifice is located, a fluid communication device between the closed space and the outside of the recipient, wherein the device may be handled without compromising the sterility, and a seal structure associated with the orifice, wherein the seal structure is at least partially located inside the closed space so that it may be moved between an open position and a closed position of the orifice.
Abstract: A laser head of laser beam processing machine which comprises a housing, in the interior of which a beam compartment and at the end thereof a nozzle for the laser beam and a working gas to exit are disposed. A dome-shaped nozzle head is provided on the housing and has alternating nozzles disposed on the interior. These nozzles are held rotatable about an axis of rotation and can be introduced into the beam path of the laser beam. The axis of rotation is located on an eccentric disk so that a one-off adjustment can be carried out while the nozzle head is exchanged. The nozzles on the nozzle plate can be exchanged without additional adjustment and thus also automatically, thereby avoiding the need for a complicated adjustment and handling during exchange of the nozzle.
Abstract: The replacement of used cooking fat in frying devices which comprise a container for the items which are to be cooked and a cooking device, i.e. a frying drum, requires a considerable amount of time and cleaning energy. The loss of cooking fat can also soil the place where the frying machine is installed. The invention thus relates to a frying device whereby the disadvantages of the known frying devices with a cooking fat outlet are avoided since the cooking drum, in the inventive frying device, is exchanged with the cooking fat.
Abstract: A multichamber tank for motor vehicles comprises two chambers (4, 5) connected via a constricted region (6) located high up in the chambers, a first chamber (4) having a filler neck (2), and a line (13) bridging the constriction forming the connection to a second chamber (5). In order that both chambers are filled at approximately the same speed during filling-up through the filler neck (2), a pump (11) designed for level equalization during filling-up and driven by an electric motor (12) is provided in the line (13), and a level sensor (17, 18) is provided in each of the two chambers (4, 5), the output signals of which sensors are available to a control unit (14) which controls the electric motor (12) of the pump (11).
Abstract: A process for determining the DC current in a fuel cell power plant includes the steps of determining current value from a power electronics converter of a power conditioning system of the power plant; determining a correction factor based upon losses within the converter; and correcting the current value from the converter with the correction factor to determine DC current in the fuel cell. This process also includes determining voltage within the converter and use of the voltage along with the corrected current to determine the desired DC current value.
Abstract: An electronic communications system for the deaf includes a video apparatus for observing and digitizing the facial, body and hand and finger signing motions of a deaf person, an electronic translator for translating the digitized signing motions into words and phrases, and an electronic output for the words and phrases. The video apparatus desirably includes both a video camera and a video display which will display signing motions provided by translating spoken words of a hearing person into digitized images. The system may function as a translator by outputting the translated words and phrases as synthetic speech at the deaf person's location for another person at that location, and that person's speech may be picked up, translated, and displayed as signing motions on a display in the video apparatus.
