Abstract: A turbine blade is provided for use in a gas turbine engine. The turbine blade has a platform, an airfoil radially extending from the platform, and an attachment portion comprising an asymmetric root neck portion having a higher stress side and a lower stress side. The turbine blade may further have additional material and a compound fillet for dispersing strain in a region where the airfoil overhangs the neck portion.

Abstract: A turbine engine nozzle assembly has an upstream flap and a downstream flap pivotally coupled thereto for relative rotation about a hinge axis. An actuator linkage is coupled to the flaps for actuating the nozzle between a number of throat area conditions. First and second mode struts respectively restrict rotation of the downstream flap in first and second directions.
Abstract: A fuel injector has a number of groups of nozzles. The groups are generally concentric with an injector axis. Each nozzle defines a gas flowpath having an outlet for discharging a fuel/air mixture jet. There are means for introducing the fuel to the air. One or more groups of the nozzles are oriented to direct the associated jets skew to the injector axis.
Abstract: The present invention relates to various types of garments to be worn by outdoors people such as hunters and fishermen. The garments include stretch fabric portions in strategic locations to provide mobility as well as comfort and thereby allow the wearer to engage in a wide range of activities. The garments having such stretch fabric portions include pants-type garments, bib overall type garments, and coat-type garments and coverall-type garments.
Abstract: A nozzle for use in a cold spray technique is described. The nozzle has a passageway for spraying a powder material, the passageway having a converging section and a diverging section, and at least the diverging section being formed from polybenzimidazole. In one embodiment of the nozzle, the converging section is also formed from polybenzimidazole.
Abstract: A device for simulating a collision of a motor vehicle by a laterally hitting impactor. The device comprises a seat carriage (3) which can be displaced in the transversal direction of the vehicle and on which a seat (5) is mounted, a lateral part carriage (10) on which a lateral part (13) of a motor vehicle body is mounted, and the impactor (20) that acts upon the lateral part (13) and is provided with an acceleration mechanism (21). The seat carriage (3) and the lateral part carriage (10) can be displaced independently of each other. In order to create a testing device which dispenses with the need for expensive and time-consuming preliminary tests to determine the settings for the tests, the impactor (20) is equipped with an acceleration mechanism (21) which can perform both positively and negatively accelerated movements in a controlled manner while an additional impactor (30) is provided that acts upon the seat carriage (3).

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to an apparatus of assembling a capsule for neutron-irradiation experiments. The capsule may contain test specimens to develop nuclear fuel, and may comprise a capsule main body and protection tube that may be assembled and disassembled using separate joining means. The electron beam induced deposition (EBID or, shorter, EBD) structure (5) is anchored directly in the substrate of the sensor tip (4). The anchoring of the EBD structure (5) takes place with positive and nonpositive engagement in a hole (6) in the sensor tip (4), which is created by material removal in the substrate of the sensor tip (4). The method comprises the creation of the EBD structure by particle beam induced material deposition in the hole of the sensor tip.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing queriable XML compression and queries related to a compressed XML document are disclosed. In the method, information, including at least the frequencies of the respective tags of XML data, the type information of data values and data value-related statistical information is collected. Thereafter, the type information of data values of elements is inferred according to tags using an automatic data type inference engine algorithm.
