Abstract: An open-top rail car cover is defined by a frame having dimensions sufficient to fit an open-top freight car designed in accordance with the Association of American Railroads, a roof and a pair of end walls. A latch disposed about a side of the frame includes a first flange and a second flange that combine to define a means for receiving an engagement member of a rail car. Both the first and second flanges include a at least one first aperture and at least one second aperture designed to receive a means for securing the car cover to the rail car. The first and second apertures have dimensions sufficient to permit movement of the first and second flanges about the means for receiving.
Abstract: A device for use in conjunction with a prayer book and sized to be inserted within the confines thereof is provided with a plurality of individual tabs, the tabs being individually extendable from the device to protrude beyond the confines of the book and is provided with indicia to visually remind the user of specific prayers, prayer segments and words applicable to the prayers of a specific day.
Abstract: A variable geometry inlet guide vane assembly that reduces stress placed on downstream compressor blades in gas turbine engines. The invention circumferential leans upstream guide vanes, pushing engine core air flow radially. This allows for aerodynamic stresses on the downstream blades to be reduced. The invention overcomes the difference in movement between a unison ring and a vane arm by providing a hinge in conjunction with a spherical bearing that couples to the unison ring.

Abstract: A process for developing agricultural products, such as seed pots, from manure includes the steps of collecting the manure, modifying nutrient content and fiber content of the manure, optionally separating at least part of a solid portion of the manure containing nutrients and fibers from a liquid portion, preparing the separated solid portion or the unseparated manure for molding, and molding the separated solid portion or the unseparated manure into a desired product. Following the molding step, the desired product may be subjected to a drying step. A system for performing the process is described.

Abstract: A turbine engine component, such as a turbine blade, has an airfoil portion with a pressure side and a suction side. In a preferred embodiment, the outlet leg is provided with at least one set of features for locally accelerating cooling flow in the outlet leg and for increasing heat pick-up ability.
Abstract: A gas turbine engine air valve assembly has first and second valving elements. The second element is rotatable about a first axis relative to the first element. The rotation controls a flow of air through the first and second elements. An actuator is coupled by a linkage to the second element. A plurality of follower member assemblies each have an insertion portion extending through a corresponding first aperture in the first valving element and a corresponding second aperture in the second element. The insertion portion is circumferentially fixed relative to one of the first and second valving elements and circumferentially moveable relative to the other of the first and second valving elements.
Abstract: A gas turbine engine augmentor has a centerbody within a gas flowpath from upstream to downstream. The augmentor has upstream and downstream shell sections, a downstream rim of the upstream shell section meeting an upstream rim of the downstream shell section shell section. A plurality of vanes are positioned in the gas flowpath outboard of the centerbody. An augmentor spray bar fuel conduit extends through the centerbody and a first of the vanes to deliver fuel to the centerbody. A seal is mounted to the spray bar and positioned in a recess extending from at least one of the downstream rim of the upstream shell section and upstream rim of the downstream shell section shell section. The seal has a first portion and a second portion engaging the first portion in a backlocked interfitting.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device that can be used to monitor the penetration of a penetration member into anatomical structures and, in particular, bone structures of a living body, the structures having at least two different electrical impedance areas. The device is characterized in that it comprises: at least one impedance meter which can be connected to at least two electrodes, at least one of the electrodes being located at a distal end of the penetration member; and at least one alert device which can produce an alert signal if the impedance meter detects an impedance variation. Abstract: A process of coating an article includes the steps of (1) forming a layer of a ceramic based compound on an article; (2) providing a solution containing a metal as a particulate having a diameter of about 10 nanometers to about 1000 nanometers and present in an amount of about 25 percent to about 50 percent by volume of the solution; (3) contacting the ceramic based compound layer with the solution; (4) drying the article; and (5) optionally repeating steps (3) and (4).

Abstract: A system for secure communication across a network including a personal code generator having one or more identification codes and one or more encryption codes. The identification codes and the encryption codes each change at predetermined time intervals. A code server is provided and is synchronized with the personal code generator such that the code server has information regarding the current identification codes and the current encryption codes of the personal code generator. A user transmits across the communication network, the current identification codes and data encrypted with the current encryption codes and the code server uses the information regarding the current identification codes to authenticate the user and the information about the current encryption codes to decrypt the transmitted data.
