Abstract: A holding device comprises a cylindrical or prismatic, porous ceramic blank and elements for clamping in a machine tool for processing the blank by removing material, in order to produce a ceramic workpiece. A narrow frame is fixed by an adhesive connection over at least part of the periphery of the blank, which is held without stresses, in the area of a plane encompassing the longitudinal middle axis (A) of the blank. The frame only covers a small part of the surface of the blank and can be detached and held in a stable holder with a clamping adapter, in such a way that it cannot slide. The entire combination is fixed in the machine tool in such a way as to be resistant to twisting and sliding. The ceramic workpiece emerges continuously form the ceramic blank without predetermination of the advance direction, until holding segments which can then only be freely selected according to number and location have been formed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for bonding a component, such as a bushing, into a part, such as a panel. The method broadly comprises attaching a vacuum chamber to a surface of the part, seating the component into a slot in the part, and applying an adhesive material about a circumference of the component while drawing a vacuum in the vacuum chamber to allow the adhesive material to flow between the part and the component.
Abstract: A horizontal stacking column used to store articles which are placed next to each other at a reciprocal distance on two-armed rachet levers which are rotationally mounted on two axes of rotation between two wall strips, comprising a carrier arm for holding the article to be stored in addition to a control arm. The axes of rotation form an acute angle (w) with the wall strips.
Abstract: A method for the automatic identification of sensor sensitivity, according to which resistance of a specific magnitude is allocated to the sensor. The resistance is used to allocate the sensor to a specific sensor group with a predetermined sensitivity range.
Abstract: A process for upgrading a heavy crude oil includes the steps of providing a heavy crude oil; and exposing the heavy crude oil to residue conversion conditions in the presence of a free radical generator and a hydrogen donor, whereby the free radical generator enhances reactions to form distillates, and the hydrogen donor inhibits reactions to form coke.
Abstract: A microtome, in particular a rotational microtome, comprising a base frame (10) on which is provided a specimen holding device (32) for performing a vertical cutting movement. The microtome further has a knife holding device (12) for a cutting element (24) which is formed by a cutting knife (26) or a cutting blade combined with a blade holder. A considerable cost saving and a substantially enhanced level of torsional stiffness and stability when the cutting forces take effect is achieved in that in the microtome the knife holding device (12) has two side plate portions (14) which project forwardly from the lower end portion (16) of the base frame (10).
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel diaminedithiol derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; radiorhenium or radiotechneticum complex thereof; a composition for treating liver cancer comprising the radiorhenium complex and lipiodol; and, a preparative kit of the composition for treating liver cancer. In the composition according to the invention, the diaminedithiol derivative is a novel compound in which long chain alkyl groups were introduced to diaminedithiol, capable of forming a radiorhenium or radiotechnetium complex thereof with an ease and leading to stronger van der Waals bonds with lipiodol. As a result, the complex becomes more stable in a medium, lipiodol, whereby the composition of the invention exhibits a high accumulation rate in liver cancer tissue when injected via hepatic artery, thereby capable of achieving an efficient treatment of liver cancer.

The device is optionally provided in the form of an intramedullary pin, which can be inserted into a medullary space of a bone and which has at least two elements that can be axially moved in relation to one another. The first element is joined to the second element via at least one detent device for securing a distraction movement, and a pushing module for distracting the first element is assigned to the second element and is joined to the second element in a manner that enables it to be locked.
Abstract: A method for cutting steel includes heating a portion of the steel until it is molten, positioning a cutting torch to have a high angle of incidence relative to the molten steel, and blasting high pressure oxygen at the molten metal. The blast of high pressure oxygen further heats the molten metal and blows the molten metal away from the steel to create a cutting trench. The cutting torch is then moved generally parallel to the cutting method includes a cutting torch that emits a high pressure combustible gas and a high pressure combustion enhancing gas. The torch directs the high pressure gases at the steel so that the gases hit the steel at an acute angle of attack. An automated device propels the torch in the general direction of the desired cut. The resultant cut metal product has at least one edge with a grain pattern that is not perpendicular to the direction of cut.
