Abstract: An applicator device comprising a casing, a storage compartment for a product to be applied, an application element comprising a ball held rotatably in a ball holder, a sealing element which is displaceable along a predetermined path between a first position with respect to the casing in which it bears sealingly against the ball and a second position with respect to the casing in which it releases the ball for application of the product, and an increased pressure-producing device for producing an increased pressure in the storage compartment, wherein the sealing element is coupled in a predetermined portion of the path to the increased pressure-producing device. The sealing element is independent of the increased pressure-producing device in a first portion of the path which is delimited by the first position.
Abstract: A movable die base (2) is moved toward a stationary die base (1). A pressing force is applied by a bending punch (21) disposed on the movable die base to a bending target portion of a pipe (A) which is placed on a die (11) provided on the stationary die base and which has inserted therein a core metal (17). At the time of this bending work, both ends of the pipe are restricted by holding them with restriction pads (22). When the pressing force is applied by the bending punch, the restriction pads are displaced to follow the pressing of the bending punch, whereby restricted state on both ends of the pipe is constantly maintained.

Abstract: The invention relates to a clusianon isomer and to the use thereof, in particular as a pharmaceutical or medical active ingredient, in particular for producing medicaments for the prophylactic and/or therapeutic (curative) treatment of tumor or cancer diseases as well as viral diseases. The aforementioned compound can be used in cytostatics and antiviral agents (virostatics). Said compound acts, in particular, as a topoisomerase and telomerase inhibitor and as a regulator in the MAP kinase signal transduction. Said compound can thus intervene at the cellular level in the proliferation mechanism of tumor or cancer cells and viruses.

Abstract: A method for identifying bi-modal data comprises the steps of receiving a plurality of data inputs, constructing a histogram from the plurality of data inputs, computing a range of the plurality of data inputs, comparing the range of the plurality of data inputs to an expected non-repeatability of the plurality of data inputs, calculating a plurality of histogram frequencies if the range is not less than the expected non-repeatability, inputting the plurality of histogram frequencies and a plurality of precomputed weights into a learned vector quantization (LVQ) network, and outputting from the learned vector quantization a bimodal flag indicative of the bimodality of the plurality of data inputs.
Abstract: An investment casting pattern is formed by forming a metallic first core element including at least one recess. The first core element is engaged to at least a mating one of an element of the die and a second core element. The recess serves to retain the first core element relative to the mating one. The die is assembled and a sacrificial material is introduced to the die to at least partially embed the first core element. The recess may be pre-formed prior to cutting the first core element from a larger sheet of material.
Abstract: Disclosed is a visualization method of RNA pseudoknot structures. The method of the invention comprises the steps of setting criteria required for visualizing RNA pseudoknots, setting structural elements and data structures for representing a whole RNA structure containing pseudoknots, determining an input format for visualization and a drawing order of the structure, determining connectivity relations between regular loops and stems in the structure and between pseudoknot loops and stems in the structure, calculating radii of the regular loop and the PK loop, calculating coordinates of bases in the regular loops, setting internal angles of the PK loops, calculating startAngles of the regular loops and angles of the stem, determining positions of the pseudoknots in the PK loops, and drawing the pseudoknots and the whole RNA structure containing the pseudoknots.

Abstract: In a method for estimating a parameter based on signals received from redundant sensors, at least a first sensed signal and a second sensed signal are received from at least corresponding first and second redundant sensors. The first sensed signal and the second sensed signal are indicative of the parameter, wherein the first sensed signal has associated therewith a first accuracy, wherein the second sensed signal has associated therewith a second accuracy. At least a reference signal indicative of the parameter is received, wherein the reference signal has associated therewith a reference accuracy. A weighting is determined based on at least the first sensed signal, the second sensed signal, and based on at least one of the first accuracy, the second accuracy, and the reference accuracy.
Abstract: A metal layer 12 of aluminum or an aluminum alloy is formed on at least one side of a ceramic substrate 10, and a resist 14 having a predetermined shape is formed on the metal layer 12. Then, an etchant of a mixed solution prepared by mixing ferric chloride with water without adding any acids is used for etching and removing an undesired portion of the metal layer 12 to form a metal circuit 12 on the at least one side of the ceramic substrate 10.
Abstract: A system for optimizing cooling air supply pressure includes a high pressure fluid source which receives bleed air from the exit of a high pressure compressor and a nozzle and ejector assembly for supplying fluid to a point of use at a pressure sufficient to maintain a required cooling airflow and backflow margin at the point of use, and for reducing leakage of the cooling fluid between the high pressure source and the point of use.
Abstract: A pen comprising a cartridge, a retaining sleeve for at least partially accommodating the cartridge, a locking device which can be actuated by rotation for locking the cartridge and the retaining sleeve together and a cap for protecting the cartridge, wherein the cap is displaceable axially in relation to the locking deice from a first operating position in which it is rotatable with respect to the locking device into a second operating position in which it is rotationally coupled to the locking device. The cartridge is axially displaceable with respect to the locking device, more specially by at least a distance which is equal to the spacing between the first and second operating positions of the cap.

Abstract: A cooling system for use in an engine having an element to be cooled includes at least one cooling channel on a first side of the element, at least one cooling channel on a second side of the element, and the at least one cooling channel on the first side communicating with the at least one channel on the second side in a nose region of the element so as to form a cooling circuit. Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved single crystal nickel base superalloy and a process for making same. The single crystal nickel base superalloy has a composition comprising 3 to 12 wt % chromium, up to 3 wt % molybdenum, 3 to 10 wt % tungsten, up to 5 wt % rhenium, 6 to 12 wt % tantalum, 4 to 7 wt % aluminum, up to 15 wt % cobalt, up to 0.05 wt % carbon, up to 0.02 wt % boron, up to 0.1 wt % zirconium, up to 0.8 wt % hafnium, up to 2.0 wt % niobium, up to 1.0 wt % vanadium, up to 0.7 wt % titanium, up to 10 wt % of at least one element selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, platinum, and mixtures thereof, and the balance essentially nickel. The single crystal nickel base superalloy has a microstructure which is pore-free and eutectic ?–?? free and which has a gamma prime morphology with a bimodal ?? distribution.
Abstract: An electric motor having a stator with a plurality of radially arranged pole shoes between which slots are arranged, a rotor which rotates within the stator and has a rotor shaft which is mounted on both sides of the rotor, isolating stars for covering the end faces of the pole shoes, a stator winding which is situated in the slots and surrounds the end-face isolating stars, and an outer stator casing, in which the stator winding uses the isolating stars to secure the rotor and, at the respective end, encloses the rotor bearings and the rotor in its position in the stator. The isolating stars are formed such that they may firstly accommodate the bearings for the rotor shaft and furthermore also may accommodate bearings for attachment of supports for accommodating the electronic circuits for electronic commutation. An electric motor of this type is distinguished by the capability to operate for long periods continuously, accompanied by high rotational speeds and small dimensions.
