Abstract: The present invention concerns an enhancement of the supercurrent carrying capabilities of bicrystalline or polycrystalline high-Tc superconductors, i.e. the critical current densities in such superconductors. The current transport properties are improved by chemically altering, especially doping, the superconductors. It seems that a modification of the space-charge layers at the boundary, e.g. by an increase of the mobile charge carrier concentrations particularly in the superconductor's grain boundaries, which concentrations differ from those resulting in optimum superconducting properties of the grains, are responsible for this positive effect.

Abstract: A heat sink of metal material, in particular a light metal alloy, for semi-conductor elements or similar components, has plate-like cooling ribs projecting from a base plate at intervals (f) and approximately parallel to each other, protrude with a connection strip into the base plate in which they are cast. A molding tool designed for production of the heat sink includes a casting mold with a mold chamber for the base plate. The mold chamber contains an area to receive the connection strips of the cooling ribs. Two parallel side walls of the casting mold and intermediate layers arranged parallel between them, each defining a receiver gap, are arranged displaceably on at least one shaft passing through them. The walls can be moved to produce the compact casting mold after insertion of the cooling ribs in the receiver gaps.
Abstract: A pipe cutting apparatus comprises at least one work-holding fixture and a cutting device pivotable about the axis of the pipe to be cut and having a cutting tool and drive. The cutting device is movable manually and/or by means of at least one transmission gearing for the feed of the tool about the pipe to be cut. The transmission gearing has a spur gear interacting with a crown gear.

Prior to the outer layer being molded over the plastic inner liner, at least a portion of the liner is crystallized by a heat treatment process. The molded outer layer may include a means to receive a closure device. When the preform is at an acceptable temperature range for orientation, the multi-layer preform can be blow-molded to form a multi-layer container having improved properties.

Abstract: The well known slip casting process for the production of ceramic green parts, in which hardening is achieved by water removal with porous molds, is characterized by disadvantages in terms of strength, shrinkage during drying and problems with cracking during drying. The present invention avoids these disadvantages and produces ceramic green parts by changing the surface potential of powder particles in the slip instead of by removing water. Further more the coagulation strength is increased by adding polymers or extremely fine divided colloidal particles.

Abstract: An annealing basket made of steel, receiving mass-produced aluminium parts (20) for the degreasing and softening thereof, comprising a bottom and side by a frame. Abstract: A method for process monitoring during die casting or vacuum thixoforming of metals in a mold, wherein the time lapse of temperature (T) is continuously measured on at least one point of the system and the temperature progression of the system is calculated in real time using a program. The time lapse of the heat flow (W) is calculated from the temperature progression of the system and the time lapse of the energy (U) of the system and the solidification heat portion (UE) of the metal solidified in the mold are calculated from the heat flow. At a given time, the calculated values are used as monitoring parameters.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for inhibiting stress corrosion cracking occurring on steam generator tubes in the secondary side of nuclear power plants and an inhibitor therefor. The method comprises supplying cerium boride as an inhibitor for stress corrosion cracking into the secondary feed water of the nuclear power plants. The method according to the present invention improves resistance of stress corrosion cracking three times or higher than no inhibitor, and two times or higher than the conventional inhibitor. In particular, the method according to the present invention shows a superior inhibiting effect in the lead-contaminated environment such that the complete inhibition of stress corrosion cracking can be achieved. As thus, the method can reduce the unexpected stop of operating nuclear power plants caused by the stress corrosion cracking on steam generator tubes, thereby reducing the cost required for maintaining and repairing the tubes.

Abstract: The invention concerns a case which is opened along a break-off line by pulling on a label capable of being stuck back. The break-off line extends up to the edge of the case front wall. Each item has on its front surface a prehensile corner located in the pile median zone. The prehensile corner of the item located at the top of the pile is positioned opposite the dispensing aperture. The invention is applicable to cases for moist wipes.
