Abstract: A blade retaining system for securing rotor blades to a rotor disc used in gas turbine engines includes an inwardly radially extending annular groove defined in the periphery of the rotor disc, intersecting the “fir tree” mounting slots into which the rotor blades are mounted. A resilient split ring is received in both the annular groove of the rotor disc and a groove defined in the bottom end of the root portion of each blade, in order to restrain axial movement of the blade relative to the rotor disc. The resilient split ring under its radial expanding spring force, radially and outwardly abuts the rotor blades and is radially spaced apart to ensure the engagement in both the grooves of the rotor disc and each rotor blade, while permitting disengagement therefrom when required. The resilient split ring is disposed downstream of the cooling air inlets in the bottom end of each rotor blade to direct the cooling air into the inlets in order to facilitate the blade cooling air circulation.
Abstract: An impeller for a circumferential current pump does not generate a weld phenomenon and can make a structure of an injection molding metal mold simple. An impeller (2) for a circumferential current pump (1) is provided with a plurality of vane grooves (12) on an outer periphery of a synthetic resin disc-like member (8) rotated by a motor (3a), and is rotatably received with a substantially disc-like space (6) formed between a pump casing (4) and a pump cover (5). An axial hole (15) engaging with a drive shaft (21) of the motor (3a) is formed in a center portion of the disc-like member (8), and a pressure adjusting groove (17) open to both side surfaces (10, 11) of the disc-like member (8) is formed in the axial hole (15). An annular recess portion (18) for arranging a ring gate (20) for injection molding is formed at a position a predetermined size apart from an outer peripheral side of the axial hole (15).
Abstract: A swirled diffusion dump combustor of the present invention includes a cylindrical combustor can and a fuel and air mixer attached to the upstream end of the combustor can. The mixer is generally formed by an annular chamber which is defined between annular outer and inner walls, having an annularly continuous truncated conical crass-section. The upstream end of the annular chamber is closed by a manifold ring which includes an annular fuel passage and two rows of swirled air passages. Thus, the compressor air approaching the mixer from above enters the swirled air passages, and the swirled air flow in the annular chamber shears fuel from the lips of the annular fuel passage to produce a fuel/air mixture. The mixture swirl is accelerated in the annular chamber and passes a downstream annular passage which serves as the region of diffusive mixing, and also as a flame flashback restrictor. The flow then dumps into the combustor can, providing the final level of mixing, where it then burns.

The jumper cable system comprises a first cable having a pair of battery clips at one end and a male plug at a second end and a second cable having a pair of battery clips at one end and a female socket at a second end. The male plug on the first cable is sized to fit within an electrical outlet such as an automobile cigarette lighter socket. The female socket on the second cable is sized to mate with the male plug and form an electrical connection therebetween. The cable jumper system of the present invention is versatile since it can be used either by inserting the male plug of the first cable into an electrical outlet and connecting the battery clips to the terminals on the battery to be charged or by mating the first and second cables and connecting the battery clips on the cables to respective batteries.
Abstract: Finely adjustable actuators are used for positioning a sensor or a scanning tip, especially for scanning tunnelling microscopes and other scanning microscopes, i.e. scanning probe microscopes. The invention relates to the construction of such an actuator which can carry out three-dimensional movements of a scanning tip with high regulating accuracy while being of robust and compact design. This is achieved by a sensible arrangement of a plural number of electromagnetic actuator elements acting on a common rigid sensor carrier. The invention provides a robust and relatively simple solution for positioning the scanning tip; an important and problematic task in scanning probe microscopy and in related fields. It permits positioning at high resolution as well as with a relatively long regulating range. Further advantages include good repetition accuracy and little mass which reduces both energy consumption and interference.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dividing a long polynomial expression in a finite field. Elements in a dividend polynomial are grouped into a plurality of groups and combined according to a superposition of the finite field. Then, a group-based parallel processing operation is performed with respect to the combined results on the basis of a lookahead technique and a partial-division process to sequentially remove the groups up to the last one for inter-symbol division in the finite field. A first group storage block stores the first one of the groups and an intermediate group storage block adds partial-remainders from the previous and current groups to form a new intermediate group. A remainder generation block adds partial-remainders from the previous and last groups to generate the overall remainder. A partial-quotient generation block generates partial-quotients in response to output data from the first group storage block and intermediate group storage block.

Abstract: Disclosed are a remote pressure-monitoring device and a preparing method thereof. The device comprises a metal electrode on a glass substrate, a capacitive sensor made of a silicon diaphragm, and an electroplated inductor electrically connected, in parallel, with the sensor. The glass substrate and the silicon are electrically bonded to form an LC resonator. For the fabrication of the device, first, a metal electrode which plays a role as a lower electrode for a capacitive pressure sensor is deposited on the glass substrate with the same coefficient of thermal expansion as that of silicon. An inductor is formed at a thickness by copper electroplating, surrounding the metal electrode at a predetermined distance. A silicon substrate is anisotropically etched to form a space for enveloping the metal electrode at a central area and to form a groove around the space.
