The driving arm is in driving connection with a ceramic moving element which, in turn, is in driving connection with said regulating disc, and the surfaces of said ceramic moving element, preferably a first ceramic moving surface and a second ceramic moving surface. The surfaces of said ceramic moving element are guided by means of guiding surfaces, preferably a first guiding surface and a second guiding surface, both formed in the lever holder, in a manner that the angle between the direction of movement of the ceramic moving element and the rotation axis of the driving arm differs from 90°.

Abstract: A perpendicular connection of two profile rods abutting at an angle (&agr;) with undercut linear grooves has a connecting bolt with a head at one end. This is arranged parallel to the axis of symmetry of a longitudinal profile rod in an undercut linear groove therein, and engages with its other end in a tenon block arranged in an undercut linear groove of the transverse profile rod. A spread element inserted in the undercut linear groove can be spread by the effect of an axial force generated by the connecting bolt transverse to the linear groove and firmly clamped in this as an abutment. The spread element comprises a spread body with an axial holder bore and a wedge body which can be inserted therein with the through bore for the connecting bolt, where the head of the connecting bolt lies against a face of the wedge body.

Abstract: A template is placed over a mold cavity, with the template including a series of orifices which extend over substantially the entire surface of the mold cavity. Molten plastic is passed through the orifices in a pattern corresponding to the shape of the article to be molded, and the molten plastic is formed into a molded article having the shape of the mold cavity.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an array of flow directing elements for use in turbomachinery. The array comprises a plurality of flow directing elements arranged around a disk in a circular pattern having four quadrants. The flow directing elements in each quadrant are different in mass from the flow directing elements in each adjacent quadrant to reduce the tendency of the array to exhibit tuned absorbed behavior. Further, the number of flow directing elements in each quadrant are different from the number of flow directing elements in each adjacent quadrant to reduce stator vibration in the turbomachinery. Still further, centfrigual pull on the disk is equalized by assembling quadrants with lower flow directing element count from heavier flow directing elements.
Abstract: A method for counting objects in an image includes the steps of: (a) providing an image including at least one object defined in the image in shades of at least one color; (b) identifying objects in the image having a shade of color which exceeds a threshold shade so as to provide a number of identified objects; (c) evaluating objects of the number of identified objects based upon object criteria to determine whether each object satisfies the criteria and can be counted, or does not satisfy the criteria and is suspect and needs further analysis; (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) for objects which are suspect at shades of color increasingly exceeding the threshold shade until all objects satisfy the criteria; and (e) providing a count of the objects, whereby accuracy of the count is enhanced. Each object is preferably tested for one or more criteria including object size, visibility, color, surface quality and shape.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved spindle unit. The spindle unit includes a body, an external shaft placed into the body and rotating on bearings relative to the body, and an internal shaft placed into the external shaft and coupled thereto. The spindle unit further includes front and rear static journal bearings and a thrust bearing between the external and internal shafts. Flow control valves are provided which have their outlets connected to recesses communicating with the rear and front journal bearings. Operation of the valves in response to measured parameters controls the position of the internal shaft relative to the rotation axis of the external shaft. This is accomplished by controlling the flow of fluid to recesses associated with the front and rear journal bearings. By controlling the position of the internal shaft, one can insure that a workpiece attached to the internal shaft is automatically centered.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the attachment of a rear bicycle wheel to the bicycle frame and involves a decoupling engagement mechanism between the one-way clutch assembly of the freehub, commonly referred to as the freehub body, and the rear hub shell.

Abstract: Described is a pencil with two refills at mutually opposite ends. Both refills are axially displaceable. Adjusting spindles respectively serve for axial displacement, of which a first adjusting spindle is tubular and there is at least one first operating position in which the second adjusting spindle projects with its end remote from the second refill into the first adjusting spindle. According to the invention it is provided that there is at least one second operating position in which the second adjusting spindle does not project with its end remote from the second refill into the first adjusting spindle. There is also provided a guide means which is not identical to the first adjusting spindle, for preventing the end, remote from the second refill, of the second adjusting spindle from tilting transversely with respect to the axial direction at least in the second operating position.
