  • Patent number: 6065111
Abstract: A processor for a multiprocessor system, such as a parallel processor system, connected to a network has a sending unit and a receiving unit for transferring and receiving data to and from the network as well as a receive cache and a main cache. When data is received from the network, it is determined whether a hit or miss occurs to the main cache and receive cache, respectively. If a hit to the receive cache occurs, then the receive cache controller stores the data directly in the receive cache as it is received. When a hit to the main cache occurs, an intercache transfer is executed for transferring the hit block in the main cache to the receive cache so that the data can be stored in the receive cache. When an instruction processor requests access to data held in the receive cache, the data is retrieved to the instruction processor and at the same time transferred to a main cache.

  • Patent number: 6061516
Abstract: An online application processing system capable of carrying out online application processing through the use of an easy-to-operate GUI environment takes advantage of the fact that the types of data exchanged by online application programs with a host terminal have conventionally been determined by the specifications of the terminal and are thus common to numerous online application programs. By matching data formats so that existing online application programs are used without modification, a GUI processing program is used as a host access program.

  • Patent number: 6061416
Abstract: Each of short-length fuel rods 3 is arranged at a position other than in 3.times.3 corner regions 6 to 9 in such a manner as not to be simultaneously adjacent to a water rod 5 and others of the short-sized fuel rods. Gd fuel rods 4 are arranged at positions excluding the outer periphery, and the number of those of the Gd fuel rods 4 adjacent to the short-length fuel rods 3 is one-half or less the total number of the Gd fuel rods. At a transverse cross-section of a region upward from upper ends of the short-sized fuel rods 3, the amount of burnable poison contained in a polygonal region 10 whose vertexes are located at centers of those of the first fuel rods 3 arranged at the outermost layer is smaller than the amount of burnable poison outside the region 10. With this configuration, a critical power can be improved in consideration of both a distribution of the flow of coolant and a distribution of a thermal power in the fuel assembly.

  • Patent number: 6060706
Abstract: In an analytical apparatus, an ion trap mass spectrometer and a detector for detecting ions separated in the mass spectrometer are installed in different chambers. Ions generated from an ion source and passing through two differential pumping chambers into a third chamber containing the detector are deflected from their initial trajectory into the mass spectrometer in a fourth chamber for separation. In a first embodiment, the separated ions are returned along the same path into the detector in the third chamber. According to a second embodiment, the detector is located along the path of ion travel beyond the mass spectrometer, and the separated ions pass through a second orifice in the mass spectrometer and into the detector in the third chamber.

  • Patent number: 6055627
Abstract: Particular portions of a program is determined to execute repeatedly. Array references accessed in a loop are classified to groups of equal values on the basis of reference to the same array. Of the groups, the ones for which an array transposition can use a batch load or store instruction are selected. An array corresponding to the selected groups is transposed to generate an intermediate language for copying. Reference to the elements of the array before the transposition is changed to reference to the transposition array. This makes it possible to convert the loop so that a single instruction can be used for a processor which can load into a register two data having consecutive addresses in a memory with use of the instruction.

  • Patent number: 6049232
Abstract: For the relation between the first and second pass-transistor circuits (PT1, PT2), the output signal of the preceding-stage is supplied to the gate of the succeeding-stage, and for the relation between the second and third pass-transistor circuits (PT2, PT3), the output signal of the preceding-stage is supplied to the source-drain path of the succeeding-stage. The first pass-transistor circuit (PT1) receives on its first input node (In1) and second input node (In2) the first input signal and the second input signal that are logically independent from each other. This logic circuit requires a smaller number of transistors and is capable of reducing the power consumption and delay and accomplishing an intricate logic function.

  • Patent number: 6049890
Abstract: In a disk array system of RAID (level 5) improving the system performance by distributing data, duplicated fields are allocated in a parity group in order to reduce an overhead of data write. In the data write process, write data is tentatively and duplicately written in the duplicate fields. At this time, a write completion is reported to the CPU. The parity is generated later at a proper timing and written in a SCSI drive. Generating a parity and writing data can be efficiently scheduled.
