  • Patent number: 4881982
Abstract: A method for gaseous carburization of steel, where, in a carbon-rich gaseous atmosphere, an article that is to be carburized is, in a first carburization phase, exposed to a carbon charge that is as great as possible, at the black limit, and, in a subsequent diffusion phase, a lower carbon charge that corresponds to the desired carbon content at the surface of the article is established, with carburization being regulated via the two target values carbon content at the surface and depth of carburization. In order, independent of the carbide limit, to provide a regulation with which it is possible to achieve in a straightforward manner, reliably and reproducibly, the desired carbon content curve (carbon profile) in the article, at least one further target value that is characteristic of the carbon content curve is used to regulate the carburization. When this additional target value is reached, the carbon level that characterizes the carburization phase is reduced, and the diffusion phase is initiated.

  • Patent number: 4877328
Abstract: Internal mixer with hydraulic cylinders (31 to 34) that are symmetrically disposed about the charging hopper (2). The floating weight (20) is driven via a movable crosspiece (22) and a shaft (21) for the floating weight. A low overall construction of the internal mixer is achieved. In the mixing operation position of the floating weight (20), the upper piston chambers (41) communicate with a first pressure reservoir (64), and the lower piston chambers (42) communicate with a second pressure reservoir (78), so that the hydraulic actuating mechanism (30) effects a resilient retention of the pistons (40) and hence of the floating weight (20), which therefore can retreat resiliently in the mixing operation position relative to the material that is to be mixed.

  • Patent number: 4875270
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing one or more parts, each of which is provided with an opening, to a hollow member. In the starting state, the inner diameter of the opening of the parts is greater than the outer diameter of the surface provided on the hollow member for securing the part. The parts are placed in the prescribed position on the hollow member prior to the securing operation. In order in a simple and economical manner to reliably secure the parts to the hollow member without the danger of overstressing the latter, and without the danger that the parts will loosen, a temperature difference is produced, prior to placing the parts on the hollow member, by heating the parts and/or by cooling the hollow member. Subsequently, each part is secured to the hollow member by widening the latter at least in the securing regions thereof, and by a subsequent shrink fitting of the parts onto the hollow member as a consequence of the temperature equalization that occurs.

  • Patent number: 4867118
Abstract: A cylinder head and combustion chamber sealing arrangement that is subdivided into a sealing element in the cylinder liner region (especially for sealing gas) and a sealing element in the cylinder block region. Both sealing elements are made of solid metal. The sealing element for gas sealing, which is disposed in the liner-collar recess, is stressed in a certain range beyond the yield limit of the material by tightening the cylinder head screws. To improve the gas sealing, on the one hand a circumferential groove is provided in the cylinder head opposite the recess in the cylinder liner collar, and on the other hand the recess itself is provided with either a circumferential groove or a circumferential rib. By this means, the liner sealing element is stressed beyond the material yield level in the specific region of its outer and inner perimeters.

  • Patent number: 4867659
Abstract: Rotary pistons on shafts connected therewith counter-rotate in a blower machine casing having casing inner cylindrical surfaces and having an inlet and an outlet in the region of intersections of these casing inner cylindrical surfaces, the cross section of the inlet is approximately 1.35 times the cross section of the outlet. The rotary pistons are formed by two coaxial semi-cylinders having different radii with a ratio of 2.5 to 2.8 relative to each other. Transition surfaces are formed between the semi-cylinder with the large radius and the semi-cylinder with the small radius. These transition surfaces dovetail with the corresponding transition surfaces of the other rotary piston and together with the associated casing inner cylindrical surfaces. The side plates and the cylindrical surfaces of the semi-cylinder with the small radius form working chambers having variable volume therewith. The cylindrical surface of the semi-cylinder with the large radius terminates in an angle of 15.degree. to 25.degree.
