  • Patent number: 5369840
Abstract: A stop mechanism for a door associated with a jamb utilizing an arresting element. The arresting element is capable of withstanding force asserted on an object normally positioned between the door and the jamb. In addition, the arresting element is sized to provide a gap between the door and the jamb when the door is swung toward a closed position. A tether is also employed in the present invention which is connected to the arresting element, and permits the arresting element to lie in a first position in the vicinity of the closed door and associated jamb and in a second position between the door and the jamb when the door is again motivated toward closing. The tether is supported to the vicinity of the door jamb at a selected level above the ground surface.

  • Patent number: 5355856
Abstract: A fuel injector system designed to generate an ultra-high, injection pulse with an instant cut-off, the injector system including a distributor component for distributing high pressure fluid from a fuel supply to a fuel injector component and a connected booster component in which the high pressure fuel is increased in pressure to an ultra high fluid pressure by a piston mechanism having large diameter and small diameter pistons. The high pressure fuel hydraulically lifts a needle valve and is ejected through discharge nozzles at the end of the injector component. High pressure fuel in the injector component forces the reseating of the needle valve after fuel discharge.

  • Patent number: 5341636
Abstract: A gas turbine engine that can operate at a very high efficiency over a wide range of load conditions. In one important feature of the invention, combustion gases are discharged along two paths, one with constant energy and the other with energy that varies in accordance with the engine load. The constant energy discharge drives a turbine that, in turn, operates a compressor for the engine at a constant, high efficiency. Alternatively, the compressor is driven at a speed that varies inversely with the engine load such that the engine operates at a high efficiency for all loads. In another, independent feature of the invention, the combustion occurs at a stoichiometric ration of fuel and air, with the turbine blades being protected from the vastly increased combustion gas temperatures by an internal array of passageways through which cooling liquid, e.g., liquid fuel, and air are channeled.
