Abstract: A shoe comprising a shoe upper including a male member and a shoe sole including a female receptor for locking with the male member. The male member locks with the female receptor by moving the male member with respect to the female receptor in a first direction, which locks the shoe upper with the shoe sole. The male member unlocks from the female receptor by moving the male member an additional distance further in the first direction, which unlocks the shoe upper from the shoe sole. The female receptor includes resilient arms to hold and release the male member and a stop to prevent movement of the resilient arms in a second direction.
Abstract: Environment conditions expected to be encountered by a vehicle are used as inputs in determining operating modes of a motive power system of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. A vehicle operating in charge depleting mode may transition to operate in charge sustaining mode if the vehicle is expected to encounter circumstances where it is desirable to allow the vehicle to more quickly respond to sudden requests for torque.

Abstract: A method for estimating a used vehicle's market value is disclosed. The method searches for a set of comparable vehicles in an existing historical database of used vehicles. Estimations of the used vehicles are established based on each comparable vehicle (neighbor) in the set of comparable vehicles by adjusting their resale value in accordance with the individual differences found between the neighbor(s) and the used vehicle whose market value is to be estimated/predicted (the target vehicle). Finally, a distance-weighted average of all such estimations is calculated to arrive at a market value estimation for the target vehicle.
Abstract: A labeling device includes a conveyor belt for taking up a row of labels, and two label dispensers, each for dispensing labels from a dispensing sheet over a dispensing edge onto the conveyor belt. The label dispensers are disposed one behind the other, the dispensing edge of a rear one of the dispensers being shifted, so that the dispensing edges of the two label dispensers are one above the other. The conveyor belt is guided over a belt deflector for changing the course of the belt between two positions as to the dispensing edges, the belt deflector including a tilting lever, over which the conveyor belt is deflected and which can be swiveled between two positions. The conveyor belt is in a first position for taking up labels at the first dispensing edge and in a second position, for taking up labels at the second dispensing edge.

Abstract: A method for applying labels on articles, which are guided in parallel lanes, for which in each case a row of labels is dispensed by a label dispenser from a backing, taken up by a transfer path guided transversely over the lanes and transferred in a transfer step onto the articles, the transfers step comprising the moving of a lifting tool, extending along a section of the transfer path onto article lanes for pressing the labels onto the articles and the return of the lifting tool into its starting position. The dispensed labels are taken up at a point of the transfer path, which is at a distance from the lifting tool, and the dispending of a row of labels is commenced before the step of transferring a previous row of labels is concluded.

Abstract: A resource analyzer selects a resource (e.g., document) from a grouping of resources. The grouping of resources can be any type of social tagging system used for information retrieval. The selected resource has an assigned uncontrolled tag and an assigned controlled tag. The controlled tag is a term derived from a controlled vocabulary of terms. Having selected the resource for analyzing, the resource analyzer identifies a first set of resources in the grouping of resources having also been assigned a same value as the uncontrolled tag as the selected resource. Similarly, the resource analyzer identifies a second set of resources in the grouping of resources having also been assigned a same value as the controlled tag. With this information, the resource analyzer then produces a comparison result indicative of a similarity between the first set of resources and the second set of resources.

Abstract: A virtual data storage system stores data as data objects to a plurality of storage devices in accordance with storage management policies. The system manages multiple copies of stored data objects on multiple media types over time. Storage pools define groups of media that are to be treated in a uniform manner. A policy is composed of a series of policy copy/delete rules that direct movement of data objects into the storage pools. A rule defines a destination storage pool, a length of time that the data objects are to remain in the destination storage pool, and a data source for the data objects. Copy and delete actions are performed to manage copies of data objects among the storage pools in accordance with the policy.
Abstract: An automotive transmission transitions from a drive gear to a neutral gear when an engine is shutdown. During a rolling pull-up, a crankshaft of the engine will be spun up to a desired speed and the transmission will transition from the neutral gear to an appropriate gear based on a shift schedule. A target transmission input speed is commanded to be a synchronous speed plus an offset to smoothly transition out of electric axle drive propulsion.

Abstract: The invention is an improved transaction verification method comprising a document, card or electronic apparatus with a transparent optical pattern visible to the user on a transparent window display. The verification process is performed by a user aligning the transparent pattern over a synchronized pattern image. A coolant is contained within the connecting coolant channel, the first end plate cooling channel, and a last end plate cooling channel. The fuel cell stack further includes a coolant electrode positioned in the coolant channel, which contacts the coolant.

Abstract: A seat back for a vehicle seat is provided. The seat back has a frame, a head restraint, and an active head restraint system. The frame provides structure for the seat back and is adapted to be mounted within a vehicle. The frame has a back support portion to support a back of an occupant, and a head restraint portion to support a head of an occupant. In one embodiment, the head restraint is supported by the head restraint portion of the frame and is moveable relative to the frame to an extended position to provide support to the head of the occupant during an impact condition. The active head restraint system is operatively connected to the head restraint for moving the head restraint to the extended position when the active head restraint system is activated.
