  • Patent number: 5525225
Abstract: A fuel filter assembly employs a base which mounts a disposable filter cartridge. A pair of axial conduits in the base provide fluid communication between the base and the cartridge. An axial conduit and at least one baffle positioned on the axial conduit outer surface within the cartridge provide a flow path through the cartridge. An orifice located in the cartridge axial conduit provides a bleed vent which controls the size and flow rate of air bubbles in filtered fuel exiting the fuel filter.

  • Patent number: 5522693
Abstract: Plates, leaves, foils or similar sheet material is led to a stack by a belt transporter, wherein a negative pressure holds the sheet to the moving belt. The source of negative pressure, such as a vacuum chamber, is continuously applied to the transport belt, but the negative pressure between the belt and the sheet is passively interrupted by the sheet itself, as the sheet is transported beyond a predetermined position. Once established, the predetermined position results in the sheets being deposited consistently on the stack.

  • Patent number: 5520804
Abstract: A deep bed filter system comprising a plurality of filter media beds, each having a respective media regeneration sub-system that includes some components associated with an individual filter bed and other components that are shared with all filter beds in the system, thereby improving the utilization of available space and lowering the materials and labor costs relative to known systems. A central column extends upwardly along the axis through the upper and lower portions of the vessel, thereby defining an annular volume extending substantially from the bottom of the vessel through the upper and lower portions. A plurality of distinct tubes extend through the central column, with each tube having a lower, intake end situated at the bottom for drawing dirtied filter media from the lower portion of the vessel into the column and transporting the drawn media upwardly through the column to a second discharge end at an elevation above the filtrate level of the filtrate region.

  • Patent number: 5517176
Abstract: An exit bar has an elongated body for mounting on an exit door. The exit bar incorporates a pair of independent sensors. An infrared beam is generated along the front of the bar. An infrared detector produces a first signal when the beam is interrupted. The first signal results in release of a lock securing the door. If the beam is interrupted for longer than a pre-set time limit, a first alarm sounds. A capacitance sensor produces a second signal when the sensor detects changes of capacitance in the bar as a result of contact or near contact with foreign objects. The second signal also results in release of the lock securing the door. If the capacitance sensor detects a capacitance change for longer than a pre-set time limit, a second alarm sounds.

  • Patent number: 5508818
Abstract: A system for transporting mixed documents having a loading conveyor for transporting documents to a document prefeeder. The document prefeeder transports documents from the loading conveyor on an angled conveyor to a stack feeder that accumulates a shallow stack of documents. A single document feed removes single documents from a shallow stack on the stack feeder and transports the single documents to a main conveyor. A camera on the main conveyor reads each document such as mail, and prints information concerning the document, such as a bar code, on each document. The documents are moved by the main conveyor to an output conveyor for sorting and accumulation.
