  • Patent number: 8314772
Abstract: A computer mouse including a base and rotatably coupled controller that permits only circular arc motions where only two radii of curvature are permitted and the radii differ in length. Hand translation is prevented by the device. A contoured hand engaging surface on the controller includes a raised palm seat with a spiral hand seat around the palm seat. Ergonomically-configured selectors are described. The hand motions permitted by the mouse are constrained by a toroidal shape at the interface between a base and a rotatably-movable controller. Selectors include one or more one finger activated keys mechanically linked to an internal electrical selector switch. A thumbwheel selector is also located in the controller.

  • Patent number: 8315343
Abstract: A composite signal including a plurality of component signal streams is processed using QR-decomposition to detect symbols and calculate a decision metric for each of the signal streams (202). Soft serial interference cancellation is performed on the composite signal based on the symbols detected for different ones of the signal streams and a ranking of the signal streams (204). The symbols are re-detected and the decision metric re-calculated for each signal stream based on soft serial interference cancellation results (206). The different decision metric calculations for at least one of the signal streams are compared to determine whether symbol detection is more accurate with or without soft serial interference cancellation (208). The signal streams are decoded using symbols detected based on soft serial interference cancellation results when symbol detection is determined to be more accurate with soft serial interference cancellation (210).

  • Patent number: 8311353
Abstract: A pixel block (300) is compressed by selecting a start depth value and a restart depth value based on the multiple depth values of the pixels (310-318) in the block (300). A respective plane representation (430) indicative of which plane of a start or restart depth value plane is determined for the pixels (311-318). These representations (430) are employed for selecting a pixel set comprising at least one other pixel (312, 314-317) in the block (300) for a pixel (318) to be encoded. The depth value(s) of the pixel(s) (312, 314-317) in the set are used for determining a prediction of the depth value of the pixel (318). The depth value and the prediction are employed for calculating a prediction error, which is encoded. The compressed pixel block (400) comprises the encoded prediction errors (460), a start value representation (420), a restart value representation (430) and the plane representations (440).

  • Patent number: 8295498
Abstract: An audio processing circuit includes a crosstalk cancellation circuit that is advantageously simplified for use in audio devices that have closely-spaced speakers. In particular, crosstalk filtering as implemented in the circuit assumes that the external head-related contralateral filters are time-delayed and attenuated versions of the external, head-related ipsilateral filters. With this assumption, the circuit's crosstalk filtering is configurable for varying audio characteristics, according to a small number of settable parameters. These parameters include configurable first and second attenuation parameters for cross-path signal attenuation, and configurable first and second delay parameters for cross-path delay. Optional sound normalization, if included, uses similar simplified parameterization. Further, in one or more embodiments, the audio processing circuit and method include or are associated with a defined table of parameters that are least-squares optimized solutions.

A network-service address of at least one network-service, provided by the IMS network of the first operator, is inserted into a SIP message of the IMS-session in a session managing node (600) of the IMS network of the first operator and delivered to the third party service provider, where it is forwarded to the second application. If required, the second application may access the one or more network-services via the first network, using the retrieved network-address.

  • Patent number: 8295329
Abstract: A symbol detector converts initial symbol estimates of received symbols to soft estimates for decoding. The symbol detector computes spreading waveform correlations between a spreading waveform for a symbol of interest and spreading waveforms for one or more interfering symbols. Interference rejection terms are computed by scaling the spreading waveform correlations by corresponding signal powers and compensating for noise. A soft scaling factor for the symbol of interest is computed from the interference rejection terms. The soft scaling factors are then applied to the initial symbol estimates to generate the soft estimates.

  • Patent number: 8294514
Abstract: A calibration unit calibrates a power amplifier load impedance to achieve a nominal amplifier load impedance after the connection of one or more external elements, e.g., antenna, to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of output power calibration. The calibration unit comprises an adaptive impedance unit and a controller. The adaptive impedance unit includes first and second variable impedance elements connected between the amplifier and the external load, e.g., antenna. The controller independently calibrates the imaginary and real parts of the load impedance by respectively selecting first and second calibration values for the first and second variable impedance elements based on a reference voltage. More particularly, the controller selects calibration values for the first and second variable impedance elements from a plurality of impedance values based on a comparison between a reference voltage and the calibrated voltages produced at the output of the power amplifier responsive to the impedance values.

  • Patent number: 8295330
Abstract: According to the teachings presented herein, a method and apparatus for communication signal processing advantageously use a mix of parametric and non-parametric correlation estimation in communication signal processing. Non-parametric estimation generates an “overall” correlation estimate for a received communication signal, and parametric estimation generates a “component” correlation estimate. The component correlation estimate is removed from the overall correlation estimate to form a partial correlation estimate that is used to process the received communication signal at least initially, such as in a pre-equalization stage. The overall and component correlation estimates are generated as impairment and/or data correlation estimates.

  • Patent number: 8295417
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for determining an impairment covariance matrix for use in an interference-suppressing CDMA receiver are disclosed. In several of the disclosed embodiments, precise information regarding signal propagation delays is not needed. An exemplary method includes the selection of a plurality of processing delays for processing a received CDMA signal. Net channel coefficients for the processing delays are estimated and used to calculate an impairment covariance matrix. The impairment covariance matrix is calculated as a function of the estimated net channel coefficients and the processing delays, without estimating a propagation medium channel response for the received signal.

  • Patent number: 8295285
Abstract: Method and arrangement for obtaining unambiguous addressing for data packets communicated between devices in two different local networks using private IP address spaces. A VPN tunnel is initially established between gateways in the two local networks and an internal IP address space is defined in each network for devices in the opposite network, not overlapping with an internal IP address space used for its own devices. When the gateway of one network receives a data packet from a device in the opposite network, the packet's header is modified by changing the destination and source addresses, which belong to address spaces valid in the opposite network, into addresses belonging to address spaces valid in the present network.

  • Patent number: 8279846
Abstract: A broadcast control channel (BCH) transport block is communicated in a cellular communications system having a physical layer in which information is communicated in one or more frames, wherein the BCH transport block represents BCH information. This involves coding (901) the BCH transport block (1001, 1101) to generate M bits of coded information. Nframes segments of coded bits are formed (903) from the M bits of coded information, wherein the BCH information can be derived from any one of the Nframes segments of coded bits. A unique one of Nframes mapping functions is applied (905) to each of the Nframes segments of coded bits to produce Nframes mapped segments of coded bits. A different one of the Nframes mapped segments of coded bits is transmitted (907) in each of Nframes frames. This enables multi-frame timing to be determined even when fewer than all BCH segments are received.
