  • Patent number: 8280394
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements to estimate neighbor cell interference for admission control purposes. Information on at least the total estimated neighbor cell interference power and the own cell power for frequency subsets of tones ft is signalled to neighboring cells for calculating a vector of impact values describing the interference impact of transmissions in a first impacting cell on respective impacted neighbor cells. The neighbor cell interference impact caused by a resource allocation in a first cell is estimated by help of the pre-calculated impact values such that resources are allocated to cause a minimized interference impact on said neighboring cells.

  • Patent number: 8280318
Abstract: The invention described herein provides a core modem assembly for a communication circuit that is well suited for mobile communication devices such as cellular phones, personal digital assistants, laptop computers, and hand-held computers. The core modem assembly comprises a baseband module, an RF module, and a socket connector that provides electrical isolation between the baseband module and RF module. The core modem assembly achieves a very small form factor and provides shielding between the baseband module and RF module. Further, the core modem assembly uses a “plug and play” design allowing late customization and interchangeability of the modules.

  • Patent number: 8279873
Abstract: In a method and a system Radio Link Control (RLC) Status Reports in a cellular radio system employing Acknowledge Mode (AM) RLC are not delivered in sequence, thereby obtaining an increased peak throughput. Thus, even when an in-sequence delivery exists, for example if the system uses HARQ transmission, it is not used for data related to the RLC status report.

  • Patent number: 8279743
Abstract: In an OFDM communications system receiver, channel estimates are processed to remove or reduce noise, exploiting the orthogonality of pilot patterns. The de-noised channel estimates are then used to compute inter-cell interference. The noise effects of orthogonal pilot patterns are selectively removed from channel samples in estimating inter-cell interference, depending on whether data subcarriers are subject to the same interference as pilot subcarriers, and whether data subcarriers are subject to interference from sectors with pilot patterns orthogonal to those in the transmitting sector. A further calculation removes noise from cells not identified by an orthogonal pilot sequence, which may be particularly applicable when large variations exist in the frequency domain of the propagation channel across a pilot pattern.

  • Patent number: 8275074
Abstract: A received OFDM signal is processed to determine a plurality of reference delays, which may include the path delays of a multipath channel. The effective channel estimates corresponding to each reference delay are determined, as is the covariance of the ISI and noise components observed at each delay. Combining weights resulting in maximum post-combining SINR are determined for all subcarriers. A corresponding plurality of FFTs is applied to the incoming sample stream, one at each of the reference delays. The individual subcarriers from each FFT output are then combined using the combining weights. This produces a single FFT output with suppressed ISI, which is used in further processing.

  • Patent number: 8275023
Abstract: Signal impairment correlations for multiple signals in a received multipath signal are constructed by fitting parametric models associated with each high-data-rate signal in the multipath against measured impairment correlations. The estimated model fitting parameters are applied to form impairment correlation estimates for all signals. The models comprise a separate impairment covariance matrix scaled by a model fitting parameter for each high-data-rate signal and a noise covariance matrix scaled by a noise element model fitting parameter. The model fitting parameters may be estimated by a least-squares formulation and applied to form impairment correlation estimates for all signals of interest. The resulting impairment correlation estimates may be provided to G-RAKE receivers or joint scaling demodulators to demodulate the signals while suppressing interference from the high-data-rate signals.

  • Patent number: 8268173
Abstract: A method of biologically treating wastewater with an integrated fixed film activated sludge process. The integrated fixed film activated sludge process includes biomass suspended in mixed liquor and biomass disposed on carriers. Under certain conditions the dissolved oxygen concentration in a reactor that includes the mixed liquor, biomass suspended in the mixed liquor, and the biomass on the carriers, biological treatment is performed primarily by the biomass in the mixed liquor. This is achieved by controlling or maintaining the dissolved oxygen concentration in the reactor at a relatively low concentration. When the biomass suspended in the mixed liquor is unable to adequately biologically treat the mixed liquor, the dissolved oxygen concentration in the reactor is controlled or maintained at a relatively high concentration. This enables biomass on the carriers to contribute more to the biological treatment of the mixed liquor than when the dissolved oxygen concentration was maintained relatively low.

  • Patent number: 8272065
Abstract: A web browser client includes an aggregated web application runtime environment that controls access by a program fragment of an aggregated web application to a resource therein based upon the originating domain of the program fragment. To do so, the aggregated web application runtime environment appends an access attribute to the Document Object Model (DOM) node associated with the resource. This access attribute is associated with a plurality of access rights definitions where each access rights definition defines a set of access rights to the resource for program fragments originating from a domain with a specific access rights status. Accordingly, the aggregated web application runtime environment sets one or more access rights statuses of the originating domain of the program fragment, and thereafter, grants or denies the program fragment access to the resource based upon one or more sets of access rights defined for that program fragment.

  • Patent number: 8270340
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and arrangements for the reliability handling of idle gap commands received in a unit of a mobile telecommunication system. A user equipment located in a cell of a mobile telecommunication network receives signalling gap commands used to activate or deactivate idle gaps for downlink measurements in the neighbor cells. It is determined whether the received gap command is reliable or not. Downlink measurements are then performed in accordance with a predefined rule in case the received gap command is determined as unreliable.

  • Patent number: 8270436
Abstract: Synchronization between a transmitter and a receiver with respect to the boundary of higher-layer logical data structures is improved by considering both the statistical likelihood of the value of a transmitted boundary indicator and the quality of the channel during the transmission. A boundary indicator received under poor channel quality, that is decoded to a statistically unlikely value, is suspect and one or more retransmission is requested. A reliable value of the boundary indicator is a retransmitted boundary indicator received during good channel conditions; the value of two boundary indicators received successively, both under poor channel conditions, that decode to the same value; or a majority vote of three successive boundary indicators, the first two received under poor channel conditions. The accuracy of the received boundary indicator is increased, at a cost of one, or at most, two, retransmissions.

  • Patent number: 8269522
Abstract: A current boost circuit acts as an “eye opener” for a digital bus line. A controlled current injects a fraction of the normal signaling current magnitude from a source driver onto the bus line, after a transition between the two logical states on the bus line is detected. The duration of the additional current injection is a fraction of the unit interval. In one embodiment, a linear system uses the summation of a proportional boost current and a delayed and negated proportional boost current. In another embodiment, a positive or negative edge detection circuit triggers a monostable pulse generator that controls the injection of short bursts of additional current into the bus lines. In some embodiments the boost current is suppressed when the bus line is driven from a driver other than the source driver.
