  • Patent number: 6941230
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining mainly the compressibility number K, the standard volumetric gross calorific value Hv,n and the standard density ?n of test gases using values determined from a spectrum of the test gases. The invention describes various approaches of translating the values for determining the desired values using the data of the spectrum in the operational condition to the standard reference condition using two-step iteration processes without having to subject the test gases to time-consuming treatments. The invention further relates to devices for determining the values required for the methods and which further develop devices for carrying out the methods.

  • Patent number: 6938448
Abstract: A panel, such as is intended for an aircraft wing panel, has continuous ribs extending on one surface. The panel is formed, or given a dihedral bend, by shot peening the ribs at a V-shaped section to expand the V-shaped sections and thus deform the panel. A strong formed panel is thus provided with continuous ribs. Further shot peening steps can be carried out on the panel for further shaping.

  • Patent number: 6938537
Abstract: A piston for an internal combustion engine which comprises a piston body, and a ring element, which together form a basic piston body. When the ring element is screwed onto the piston body, it forms a ring shaped cooling channel which is closed off in a direction of the pin bosses by a projection of the basic body. The projection is structured in the form of an elastically resilient cup spring which is deformed when the ring element is screwed onto the body. This deformation and counter stress, contributes to the strength of the screw connection.

  • Patent number: 6938604
Abstract: A cooling channel cover for a one-piece piston of an internal combustion engine, the piston having a closed cooling channel that runs around inside the piston crown, at the level of the piston ring band, and a ring-shaped recess provided between the piston ring band and the piston shaft, wherein the piston shaft is connected with the piston hubs suspended on the piston crown. In such a piston, an easy to assemble cooling channel cover is achieved in that a one-piece, plastic spring steal ring, U-shaped in cross-section, having radially angled outer and inner shanks around the circumference, has at least one film hinge running around the circumference of the ring. The film hinge allows at least one radial deflection of at least one of the shanks, in such a manner that in order to close off the cooling channel, the shanks engage in a stepped conical recess on the inner edge of the cooling channel.

  • Patent number: 6935296
Abstract: A gas shuttle valve is for an internal combustion engine, in which a valve plate, as a sealing element, a tubular valve shaft, as a guide element, and a thrust part, which seals the end of the valve shaft opposite to the valve cone, as a stop for a valve operating element having a support for a typical valve spring, are welded to one another. This production method is distinguished by a precisely fitted assembling of these parts to a predetermined length measure, which precedes the permanent bonding of the valve shaft and thrust part.

  • Patent number: 6932552
Abstract: A fastener comprises an anchor and a central pin. The anchor has a top plate to which a central leg is connected. At the free end of the central leg are two anchor arms that extend up and outward from the free end, forming an arrowhead shape. Each anchor arm has an outwardly extending lip connected to its free end. The anchor arms are flexible and can flex inward as the anchor is placed through a hole in an item to be fastened. Connected to the top surface of the top plate is a push pin. Depressing the push pin breaks the connection areas to create a two-piece anchor from the single part. The push pin comprises a push button and a pin connected to the underside of the push button. The pin consists of a vertical post having a channel therein for accommodating the central leg of the anchor. Pushing the push button downward causes the anchor arms to be pushed outward and to anchor the fastener into the items to be fastened.
