    Abstract: The thrust nozzle opening angle of two cycle gas turbine jet engines is controlled in a system which comprises a low pressure compressor driven by a low pressure turbine. A first compressor is arranged radially inward for a first flow cycle or circuit and a second compressor is arranged radially outward for a second flow cycle or circuit. A high pressure compressor is driven by a high pressure turbine. A combustion chamber is situated upstream of the high pressure turbine. An afterburner is supplied with the turbine gases from the first, hot flow cycle and with compressed air from the second, relatively cool flow cycle or circuit. The system may have multiple shafts. The control is effected with reference to the instantaneous pressure relationship (.pi.NVZ) between the static pressure (p.sub.sD) downstream of the radially outer compressor (1a) of the second flow cycle (k2) and the static pressure (p.sub.sE) of the air flowing into the propulsion system.     Abstract: A do-it-yourself spiral staircase has a central column (1) made of a hollow steel tube or pipe, which extends between a support (2; 7; 16) on a lower floor and a landing plate or end tread (3) on an upper floor of a residence or office building. The individual treads (4) are distributed along the column between spacer sleeves (5; 5'). The steel tube or pipe is divided into two tubular sections, of which one tubular section (11; 15; 15'; 20) has an excess length and can be shortened at its free end for adjustment to the required height of the spiral staircase to the size required at the construction site, whereas the other, ready-made tubular section (10; 18) is telescopically attached to the tubular section which has been shortened. At least two mutually aligned or registering bores are provided. Each bore passes radially through its respective telescopically engaging tubular parts.

At least one tiltable jet engine forms part of the landing gear and automatically controls the descent movement. A stabilizing mechanism forms part of the landing gear and provides a positioned control for the landing gear and load during descent. Preferably two solid fuel rockets are provided for supporting the load during descent. The rockets are tiltable about an axis extending across the longitudinal axis of the landing gear. The tilting is controlled by a computer on board in accordance with a program present in the computer whereby the landing is substantially independent of local wind conditions and other external factors.

The lift capacity of the paraglider is so dimensioned that it replaces the lift loss of the wings due to the low landing speed, whereby the weight of the flying body is kept in equilibrium to the sum of the wing lift and of the paraglider lift. The paraglider resistance or drag is compensated by the engine thrust and an ascending or descending flight is accomplished by modulating the engine thrust.

    Abstract: A reflection type liquid crystal display unit wherein twisted nematic liquid crystal molecules are used in a field effect mode. A polarizing sheet placed on the upper surface of the liquid crystal display element of the unit is formed with spacer projections geometrically distributed substantially over the entire surface area of the display unit by an embossing process, thereby defining a clearance of uniform predetermined thickness between the polarizing plate and the liquid crystal display element. As a result of this arrangement, formation of interference fringes known as Newton's rings is prevented.

Each of the four support points of the craft body forms a forked bracket so that each support point has two half brackets. The half brackets of a pair are vertically aligned so that the respective clamping bolt may pass through these aligned half brackets and through the respective securing ends of the wing forks extending into the space between two half brackets.

In the second sub-assembly the second circuit element and the eyelet terminal are carried temporarily on an unsolderable mounting tool. The first and second sub-assemblies are temporarily coupled to each other during the forming of the main assembly by means of a coupling tool or jig for applying molten solder to an exposed connecting portion of the eyelet terminal and to portions of the hard and soft leads extending from the eyelet terminal.

    Abstract: The wings of a hingeless helicopter rotor are secured to the head of the rotor by connecting elements of fiber compound materials. Each connecting element has at least two outer layers of fiber compound materials and an intermediate layer of .+-..beta.-fiber compound materials between the outer layers. The intermediate layer is bonded to the outer layers by a suitable adhesive. The intermediate layer takes up the central portion of the securing flange of the rotor head and its axial thickness increases radially inwardly. The intermediate layer has four side lobes which extend laterally out of the confines of the outer layers. These side lobes are connected by bolts to the rotor head. This structure provides a strong connection in which the outer layers are not weakened. Effects of the lead-lag movement of the rotor wings and of any torsion of the connecting elements are minimized and the fictitious hinges are located close to the rotational axis even within the zone defined by the rotor head flange.

    Abstract: A baby walker is provided with a substantially doughnut-shaped upper frame and a seat suspended from the upper frame by three straps. The end of each strap is provided with an engaging bar disposed at right angles with the direction of the length of the strap. Attached to the lower surface of the upper frame are adjusting members each having a plurality of downwardly opened recesses. A guide member is provided adjacent each adjusting member and spaced apart from the lower surface of the upper frame. The straps are led from below the upper frame and mounted on the upper surfaces of the guide members, with the ends of the straps being led to the adjusting members. Each engaging bar engages one of the associated engaging recesses. In this state, the load on the seat forces the engaging bars into the innermost regions of the engaging recesses.

The pair of rear legs each have an angle bar pivotally connected thereto while the angle bar has a pusher rod pivotally connected to the other end thereof. With the baby carriage in the closed state, the pusher bar body and the associated angle bar are in bent relation to each other, thus reducing the vertical dimension of the baby carriage. Further, in response to the turning movement of the angle bars relative to the rear legs, both the longitudinal and the transverse spacings between the front and rear legs are reduced. In this manner, the baby carriage is folded.
