  • Patent number: 4310938
Abstract: The present swimming shoe is intended for use in connection with breast stroke swimming as opposed to other types of swim strokes. For this purpose the body of the present swimming shoe has a cavity for receiving a swimmer's foot and a bottom or sole as well as a shoe upper. Two thrust or propulsion flaps or flippers are hinged to the shoe body in such a manner that a pulling movement of the swimmer's legs substantially reduces the surface area of the swimming shoe, whereas a thrust or propulsion movement of the swimmer's legs increases the "thrust surface area" in an optimal manner. To this end one propulsion flap is hinged to a longitudinal edge of the sole whereas another propulsion flap is hinged to the longitudinal side of the shoe upper, preferably diagonally opposite the first flap or flipper.

  • Patent number: 4309865
Abstract: Windings of fiber compound materials are produced on a core in multicourses hereby the fiber arrangement may change from course to course. For this purpose a plurality of fiber coil carriers are arranged in sequence one after the other as viewed in the direction of core advancement. The fiber coil carriers are arranged coaxially relative to the core. The coils of fibers are supported by the fiber coil carriers. The r.p.m. of each fiber coil carrier is adjustable independently of the r.p.m. of any other coil carrier. Each r.p.m. is adjusted to be inversely proportional to the desired pitch of the fibers in the respective winding course. The direction of rotation of each coil carrier is also selectable independently of the rotational direction of any other coil carrier.

  • Patent number: 4309908
Abstract: A liquid filled pressure pick-up or transducer comprises a housing, as strain gage sensor is supported in a liquid filled cavity in the housing and a membrane extends across an opening in the housing. A force transmitting rod connects the membrane to the strain gage sensor. In order to avoid damage especially to the membrane by extreme excess pressures, a plastically deformable support member acting as a stop is operatively held in the housing substantially in parallel to the membrane whereby the rod extends with play through the support member. An elastic seal extends around the rod hole in the support member toward the membrane. A substantially mirror symmetrical arrangement of two membranes and two support members results in a differential pressure transducer.

  • Patent number: 4310166
Abstract: A transport apparatus having a loading bridge, is movable by hand for transporting loads over stairs. There are two front rollers (3), which are either extendable or variable in their angular position, and two rear rollers (7), which are secured to downwardly extending arms (6). The loading bridge (1) takes up a rearwardly tilted position when the transport apparatus rests with the rollers (3, 7) on a horizontal surface. The spacing between the front and rear rollers (3, 7) and the roller diameters are selected so that, when climbing a stair, the front rollers (3) rest on an upper tread while the rear rollers (7) simultaneously rest on a lower tread. When the apparatus is not in use, it may be folded to take up but a small space by folding the tiltable hand levers (14) inwardly and by tilting the arms (6) upwardly.

  • Patent number: 4303983
Abstract: A time duration is measured precisely and with high resolution by making three time measurements as shown in FIG. 5. The time difference t.sub.A between the leading edge of a start signal and the next following leading edge of a constant frequency time base signal is measured. The number "n" of the following leading edges is then counted including the leading edge of the time base signal following a stop signal. The number n is multiplied by the period T.sub.Q of the time signal. The time difference t.sub.E between the leading edge of the stop signal and the next following leading edge of the time base signal is measured. The real time difference .DELTA.t is then calculated as follows .DELTA.t=t.sub.A +n.multidot.T.sub.Q -t.sub.E. A three part real time measurement is performed to correct the calculated result for drift and aging. Calibration measurements are made and the respective calibration factors are used in calculating the final results.
