  • Patent number: 4335587
Abstract: A drive shaft including a universal coupling is made in the form of a uniy bonded fiber material structure having anisotropic properties. A winding form or mold is assembled to include, for example, an elongated winding sleeve, a flange forming core element, and an elongated winding mandrel joined together. Impregnated fiber material is wound onto the mold so that the fibers of the winding lie at thread angles approximately .+-.45.degree. with respect to the longitudinal axis of the form or mold. The wound structure is compressed whereby the coupling assumes its intended shape after curing or hardening. Portions of the form or mold are removed, for example, by dissolving and washing in a suitable solvent. Alternatively the drive shaft coupling is formed directly on the torque transmitting shafts to be coupled so that the transmitting shafts are integrated into the unitary structure. The annular flange and 45.degree.

  • Patent number: 4334180
Abstract: Electromagnetic driving mechanism for oscillating displacement pumps (10) is described which comprises a linear motor (21, 22) and a control circuit (51, 52, 53, 54). The control circuit controls the stroke movement of the linear motor (21, 22) in response to the deviation of the actual value of a stroke parameter (stroke distance, stroke speed, stroke acceleration, and pressure of the medium being pumped) from the reference value of this stroke parameter. A preferred embodiment is assembled in such a manner that the pump (10) proper may be easily exchanged and constructed as a discardable unit. Such a pump unit (10) is particularly desirable in connection with blood pumps.

  • Patent number: 4332271
Abstract: A throttling device is located in a venting pipe or in a pipe section such as a flue gas pipe or conduit arranged between a boiler and a flue or chimney. The flap is held in a pipe section for removal out of the respective pipe either by tilting or by pulling the flap out. For this purpose the pipe section has a slot which is about semicircular and which, in operation, is covered by a ring section or sector. The throttle flap may be pulled out of the pipe section together with the ring section and with its adjustment drive whereby cleaning of the pipe or conduit is substantially facilitated. Heat losses through the flue are avoided when the throttle flap is closed.

  • Patent number: 4325461
Abstract: A noise reducing resonator, herein referred to as a silator due to its no silencing quality, is made up of primary struts forming a main frame and secondary struts forming at least one subframe enclosed by a vacuum tight cover to enclose a vaulting evacuated volume. Each frame has a given span width and a vaulting height corresponding to 0.005 to 0.05 times the respective span width. The frames are arranged in a hierarchic order which means that a larger main frame holds a smaller subframe which in turn holds a still smaller subframe and so on. The resonance frequency increases with the number of subframes held in a main frame. Interconnected silators may cover entire surface areas for noise reduction or absorption.

  • Patent number: 4325458
Abstract: The noise of an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine or other hermodynamic equipment is reduced by silators which are operatively arranged for deadening or absorbing the exhaust noise. Such silators have vaulted surfaces enclosing an evacuated volume which may include a cooling liquid. The silators have a resonance frequency that depends on the vaulting height and the free span or diameter of the vaulted surface. By properly dimensioning the silators and combining a plurality thereof each having a different resonance frequency, a wide frequency range of exhaust noises may be covered. Preferably the silator impedance is smaller than the air impedance of the environment. The silators are protected against the heat of the exhaust gases.

  • Patent number: 4323184
Abstract: Nails, screws and the like, referred to as fasteners, are automatically supplied into the magazine of a driver for the fasteners from a supply chute. A slide pusher may extend out of the free end of the magazine and cooperates with a gate at the discharge end of the supply chute, whereby the gate is opened when the free end of the magazine is inserted into the discharge end of the supply chute. In this position the magazine slide pusher is located in a recess to permit the fasteners to freely pass by the slide pusher into the magazine guide channel. When the magazine is full it is withdrawn from the supply chute, whereby a spring closes the gate and the slide pusher is moved back into the magazine guide channel to push the fasteners toward the magazine discharge end under the force of a spring in the magazine.

  • Patent number: 4322707
Abstract: A strain gage transducer, preferably of the above double bending spring or beam type, has secured to its spring or springs strain gage elements etched out of foil from which further conductor configurations have been simultaneously etched. These further conductor configurations are shunted by interruptable short circuits. Some of these configurations have such a shape that they are substantially nonsensitive to strain and hence located in a zone or zones of the spring or beam where the deformation due to strain is relatively small, for example in a central zone. Others of these configurations have a shape to exhibit large creeping. The latter shapes and the respective strain gage elements are secured to the spring or springs substantially in zones of large deformation. By interrupting the proper short circuits the negative creeping of the foil strain gage compensates the positive creeping of the respective spring.

  • Patent number: 4317581
Abstract: A baby carriage having a pair of front legs and a pair of rear legs. The pair of rear legs each have an angle bar pivotally connected thereto while the angle bar has a pusher rod body pivotally connected to the other end thereof. With the baby carriage in the opened state, the angle bar is substantially in line with the associated pusher rod body. With the baby carriage in the closed state, the pusher bar body and the associated angle bar are in bent relation to each other, thus reducing the vertical dimension of the baby carriage. Further, in response to the turning movement of the angle bars relative to the rear legs, both the longitudinal and the transverse spacings between the front and rear legs are reduced. In this manner, the baby carriage is folded.
