  • Patent number: 8088055
Abstract: A method determines an error in aligning a patient with a radiation beam. A planning volume V is acquired during treatment planning, and a treatment volume I is acquired during treatment. For each point r in the planning volume and treatment volume to be aligned by a coordinate transformation T, a weighted error DWE is minimized using an objective function F(r, T) applied to the planning volume and the treatment volume weighted by a weighting function W(r) as WE ? ( T ) = ? r ? W ? ( r ) ? F ? ( r , T ) , where W(r) is a function of a target weight WT, a tissue at risk weight WR, and a delivered dose weight WD.

  • Patent number: 8089856
Abstract: In an oversampled orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) orthogonal network, the preamble used for time synchronization does not have an ideal autocorrelation function due to guard bands, which degrade the accuracy of symbol timing. Therefore, a zero-correlation-zone (ZCZ) based preamble is used for time synchronization. Across correlation function (CCF) used for time synchronization is forced to 0 within a certain region around a main lobe. The length of the ZCZ is guaranteed to be larger than a cyclic prefix length of OFDM data symbols synchronization accuracy.

  • Patent number: 8085852
Abstract: A method performs inverse tone mapping of an image in a decoder. For each block of each color channel of the image the following steps are performed. A scaling factor is determined for a current block of the image by adding a predicted scaling factor for the current block to a difference between the predicted scaling factor and the scaling factor of an adjacent block. An offset value for the current block is determined by adding a predicted offset for the current block to a difference between the predicted offset value and the offset value of the adjacent block. The scaling factor and the offset value are applied to pixel intensity values of the current block to produce a mapped block in which a bit-depth of the mapped block is greater than the bit-depth of the current block.

  • Patent number: 8073071
Abstract: A method transmits a block of symbols in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) network including a transmitter having a set of transmit antennas and a receiver having a set of receive antennas. A block of symbols is coded with a first code to generate a first block, which is transmitted and received. If a decoding of the first block is incorrect, then block of symbols is coded with the first code and then a second code different than the first code to generate a second block. The second block is transmitted, received and combined with the first block to recover the block of symbols.

  • Patent number: 8068016
Abstract: Information related to a vehicular environment is disseminated in a multi-hop broadcast network of nodes. Vehicles and roadside units are equipped with the nodes. An event is sensed at a location by a source node. In response, zones are associated with respect to the location of the source node. Each zone is logically asymmetric and disjoint from the other zones. An alert message is broadcast, received, and then rebroadcast by other vehicles according to the locations of the vehicles in the zones. The nodes can also disseminate witness information.

  • Patent number: 8059747
Abstract: Codewords encoded using non-coherent codes and received at a receiver via non-coherent channels in a multi-input, multiple output (MIMO) network using orthogonal frequency demultiplexing (OFDM) are decode by concatenating multiple adjacent codewords of a received signal into a superblock at the receiver. A projector matrix based on a codebook is predetermining. Each codeword in the superblock is projected onto an orthogonal complement of a correspond transmitted codeword using the projector matrix to obtain a corresponding distance metric of a generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) codeword. A minimal distance metric is selected to obtain an estimate of the transmitted codeword corresponding to a transmitted signal.

  • Patent number: 8054776
Abstract: A method and network communicate packets by assigning, in each one of a set of multiple transmitters, a power level to a packet to be transmitted during a time interval. The power level is selected from a set of power levels available for the set of multiple transmitters. The power levels in the set range from highest to lowest. There is one packet for each transmitter such that there is a set of packets to be transmitted during the time interval. The set of packets is transmitted concurrently during the time interval to enable decoding of at least one of the packets in the set of packets during the time interval.

  • Patent number: 8055662
Abstract: Our invention describes a method and a system for matching securely an unknown audio recording with known audio recordings. A plurality of known audio recordings, each known audio recording associated with an index to information uniquely identifying the known audio recording is stored on a server. An unknown audio recording cross-correlated securely with each of the plurality of known audio recordings to determine a best matching known audio recording, in which the unknown audio recording and the plurality of known audio recordings are encrypted with a public key. A best matching known audio recording is determined securely according to the cross-correlation. Next, the index of the best matching known audio recording is determined securely. Finally, the information associated with the index of the best matching known audio recording is provided securely to a user of the unknown recording.

  • Patent number: 8054226
Abstract: A method localizes a set of nodes in a wireless network that includes a target node having unknown location and a set of anchor nodes having known locations. The set of anchor nodes is partitioned into subsets of anchor nodes, wherein each subset has at least three anchor nodes. A distance from the target node to each of anchor nodes in each subset is measured, to estimate possible locations of the target node. A geometric constraint is applied to each estimated location to determine valid locations, which are then filtered to determine filtered locations. The filtered locations are averaged to determine an initial estimate of the location.

  • Patent number: 8044994
Abstract: A method and system acquire and display light fields. A continuous light field is reconstructed from input samples of an input light field of a 3D scene acquired by cameras according to an acquisition parameterization. The continuous light is reparameterized according to a display parameterization and then prefiltering and sampled to produce output samples having the display parametrization. The output samples are displayed as an output light field using a 3D display device. The reconstruction can be performed by interpolating the input samples having the different views.

  • Patent number: 8041577
Abstract: A method expands a bandwidth of an audio signal by determining a magnitude time-frequency representation |G(?, t) for example audio signals g(t). A set of frequency marginal probabilities PG(?|z) 221 are estimated from |G(?, t)|, and a magnitude time-frequency representation |X(?, t)| is determined from an input signal audio signal x(t). Probabilities P(z), PX(z) and PX(t|z) are determined using PG(?|z)|X(?, t)|. |?(?, t)| is reconstructed according to PzPX(z)PG(?|z)PX(t|z), and |?(?, t)| is transformed to a time domain to obtain a high-quality output audio signal ?(t) corresponding to the input audio signal x(t).

  • Patent number: 8040810
Abstract: A method determines an optimal route to deliver a packet from a source node via relay nodes to a destination node in a network. A graph of nodes connected by edges represents possible routes in the network. A probability that the packet arrives at the destination before a deadline time is assigned to each edge. A minimal delay route is selected from the possible routes, and an arrival time for delivering the packet using the minimal delay route is determined. The arrival time is comparing to a deadline time, and the probabilities are scaled accordingly until the minimal delay route is an optimal route.

  • Patent number: 8036674
Abstract: A method predicts resource allocations in a wireless network including a set of base stations (BSs). Each BS is in a cell, and serves a set of mobile stations. A sequence and rule of resource allocations are defined for all of the BSs. Previous resource allocations are acquired from the BSs in adjacent cells. In each BS, for a next allocation, inter-cell interference (ICI) is predicted independently for the set of MSs in the cell based on the previous resource allocations by the BSs in the adjacent cells and the sequence and rule of resource allocations. Then, each BS allocates the resources to the MSs in the cell based on the ICI and the previous resource allocations.
