  • Patent number: 7945845
Abstract: A method and system decode a sequence of symbols received via a channel to a codeword of an error-correcting code. Log-likelihood ratios are determined from a sequence of symbols received via a channel. A set of constraints is initialized according to the log-likelihood ratios. An adaptive linear programming decoder is applied to the set of constraints and the log- likelihood ratios according to an error-correcting code to produce an estimate of the codeword and an updated set of constraints. If the estimate of the codeword is a non-integer pseudo codeword, further update the set of updated constraints with a set of integer constraints if the estimate of the codeword is the non-integer pseudo codeword, and proceeding with the applying step, and otherwise producing the estimate of the codeword as the final codeword.

  • Patent number: 7934869
Abstract: Embodiment of the invention describes a system and a method for positioning an object from a first pose to a second pose. The method displays concurrently a first image and a second image on a display device, wherein the first image and the second image represent respectively the first pose and the second pose of the object. The method updates, in response to a change in a pose of the display device, the second image such that an alignment of the first image and the second image on the display device depends on the change in the pose of the display device, and positions the object from the first pose to the second pose based on the change in the pose of the display device.

Abstract: A computer implemented method tracks 3D positions of an object moving in a scene. A sequence of images is acquired of the scene with a set of cameras such that each time instant a set of images are acquired of the scene, in which each image includes pixels. Each set of images is aggregated into a synthetic aperture image including the pixels, and the pixels in each the set of images are matched corresponding to multiple locations and multiple depths of a target window with an appearance model to determine scores for the multiple locations and multiple depths. A particular location and a particular depth having a maximal score is selected as the 3D position of the moving object.

  • Patent number: 7924803
Abstract: A method and a system for selecting antennas in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) network. The network includes a base station and mobile stations. The mobile station includes multiple antennas. The base station and the mobile stations communicate with each other using frames. The base station transmits a down-link (DL) subframe of the frame to the mobile station. The DL subframe allocates one or more symbols and one or more subcarriers of an up-link (UL) subframe of the frame for antenna selection signals. The mobile station transmits the UL subframe including the antenna selection signals at the allocated subcarriers and symbols to the base station. Then, the base station selects a subset of the antennas based on the antenna selection signals.

  • Patent number: 7916934
Abstract: A method and system acquire and display light fields. A continuous light field is reconstructed from input samples of an input light field of a 3D scene acquired by cameras according to an acquisition parameterization. • Patent number: 7917107
Abstract: A method for selecting antennas in a multiple-input, multiple-output wireless communications network that includes multiple stations is presented. Each station includes a set of transmit RF chains and a set of receive RF chains, and each RF chain is connectable to a set of antennas. A first station transmits a training frame for each possible subset of the set of antennas, and the set of transmit RF chains are connected to the subset of antennas according to a connection mapping rule while transmitting each training frame. A subchannel matrix is estimated in a second station for each frame. The subchannel matrices are combined to obtain a complete channel matrix. A particular subset of the antennas is selected according to the complete channel matrix. The set of transmit RF chains is connected to the selected particular subset of antennas to transmit data from the first station to the second station.

  • Patent number: 7907508
Abstract: A method allocates radio channel resource in an orthogonal frequency-division multiple access network including a set of base stations (BS) and a set of mobile stations (MS). For each BS, a diversity set is maintained for the sets of MS. Each BS determines possible interference at the MS based on the diversity set. A graph is constructed, in which nodes represent the sets of MS, and each edge between a pair of nodes represents channel interference between the MS represented by the pair of nodes. A weight is assigned to each edge, which reflects interference and signal strength on the subchannel between the two MSs connected by the edge. Channel resources are allocated to the MS based on the graph.

The interference graph is partitioned into non-overlapping clusters of nodes based on a structure of the interference graph, the potential interference, so that a sum of the weights of the edges between each cluster is maximized. Based upon the graph partitioning, the channel resources are allocated to the mobile stations in order to maximize the system capacity.

  • Patent number: 7903737
Abstract: A method randomly accesses multiview videos. Multiview videos are acquired of a scene with corresponding cameras arranged at poses, such that there is view overlap between any pair of cameras. V-frames are generated from the multiview videos. The V-frames are encoded using only spatial prediction. Then, the V-frames are inserted periodically in an encoded bit stream to provide random temporal access to the multiview videos. Additional view dependency information enables the decoding of a reduced number of frames prior to accessing randomly a target frame for a specified view and time, and decoding the target frame.

  • Patent number: 7899253
Abstract: A method constructs a classifier from training data and detects moving objects in test data using the trained classifier. High-level features are generated from low-level features extracted from training data. The high level features are positive definite matrices on an analytical manifold. A subset of the high-level features is selected, and an intrinsic mean matrix is determined. Each high-level feature is mapped to a feature vector on a tangent space of the analytical manifold using the intrinsic mean matrix. An untrained classifier is trained with the feature vectors to obtain a trained classifier. Test high-level features are similarly generated from test low-level features. The test high-level features are classified using the trained classifier to detect moving objects in the test data.

  • Patent number: 7876257
Abstract: A method compresses synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data by sampling the SAR data into blocks and transforming each block to a corresponding block of transform coefficients. Each block of transform coefficient is quantized according to a quantization parameter to obtain a corresponding block of quantized transform coefficients, which are demultiplexed into sets of blocks of quantized transform coefficients. The quantized transform coefficients in the blocks in each set are arithmetically encoding in parallel according to a probability model to produce an intermediate bitstream for each set of blocks. The encoding of the quantized transform coefficients of one block is independent of the quantized transform coefficients of a successive block. The intermediate of bitstreams are then multiplexed to a compressed bitstream, which can be transmitted, or stored, for subsequent decoding to construct an SAR image.
