  • Patent number: 7436497
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for providing spot lighting for observing a gemstone is presented. In particular, the spot lighting provided by the invention allows for observing of the fire of a gemstone, i.e. the visible effects of light dispersion into separate colors. The apparatus includes a tube for receiving a portion of a multi-spectral light source, and a mask coupled to the tube for blocking other portions of the light source. By selecting the proper tube dimensions and aligning the tube with both the light source at an inlet and a gemstone at an outlet, the spot lighting source provides direct lighting for isolating and accentuating the effects of fire.

  • Patent number: 7432033
Abstract: Methods of printing with a liquid electrophotographic toner composition prepared within an electrophotgraphic printing apparatus are provided, wherein a polymeric binder comprising at least one amphipathic copolymer comprising one or more S material portions and one or more D material portions is first prepared in a reaction solvent, wherein the reaction solvent comprises less than about 10% aromatic components by weight and has a Kauri-Butanol number less than about 30 mL. Toner particles are then formulated in the reaction solvent and dried. The dried toner particles are then redispersed in a carrier liquid.

  • Patent number: 7431109
Abstract: A power supply assembly is provided for a vehicle, such as a Personalized Motorized Vehicle (PMV), including a detachable mounting assembly therefor which facilitates the ease of attachment of a Power Supply Unit (PSU) to a main structural frame of the vehicle, provides a positive electrical and structural connection therebetween, and integrates the power supply assembly with the external geometry of the vehicle to provide an aesthetically pleasing external appearance. The power supply assembly includes a pair of PSUs. A segment of one PSU unit overlaps a segment of another PSU unit and another segment of one PSU overlaps a portion of the main structural frame. Electrical connectors are disposed in combination with the overlapping housing segments for electrically coupling the PSUs and at least one PSU to the vehicle. The power supply, assembly, furthermore includes a retention subassembly for structurally connecting each PSU to the main structural frame.

  • Patent number: 7431939
Abstract: The use of a dietary fiber or a mixture of dietary fibers for the manufacture of a composition, being a pharmaceutical composition or a functional food or a functional feed, for the prevention, the inhibition and/or the treatment of systemic infections in humans and in vertebrates caused by pathogenic bacteria is disclosed. A method for the prevention, the inhibition and/or the treatment of systemic infections in humans and in vertebrates caused by pathogenic bacteria, comprising administration to said beings, orally, through tube feeding or rectally, a composition containing an effective amount of a dietary fiber or mixture of dietary fibers is also disclosed. The dietary fiber is preferably a fructan, typically inulin and/or oligofructose, most preferably chicory inulin with an average degree of polymerization (DP) of at least 20.

  • Patent number: 7433635
Abstract: A method of producing an image on a final image receptor from image data in a multiple pass electrophotographic system is provided. The method includes the steps of applying transfer assist material to an intermediate transfer member and providing at least one development unit including a photoreceptive element and charged toner particles. During each complete processing cycle of an intermediate transfer member, a toned image is created and transferred to the intermediate transfer member by application of a bias. In multiple processing cycles of the intermediate transfer member, the transfer assist material and the at least one toned image thereby form a composite image layer on the intermediate transfer member. The method further includes contacting the composite image layer with a final image receptor while applying a bias that is sufficiently strong to transfer at least a portion of the composite image layer to the final image receptor.

  • Patent number: 7433997
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of realizing an associative memory capable of storing a set of documents and retrieving one or more stored documents similar to an inputted query document, said method comprising: coding each document or a part of it through a corresponding feature vector consisting of a series of bits which respectively code for the presence or absence of certain features in said document; arranging the feature vectors in a matrix; generating a query feature vector based on the query document and according to the rules used for generating the feature vectors corresponding to the stored document s such that the query vector corresponds in its length to the width of the matrix; storing the matrix column-wise; for those columns of the matrix where the query vector indicates the presence of a feature, bitwise performing one or more of preferably hardware supported logical operations between the columns of the matrix to obtain one or more additional result columns coding for a similarity measure betw
