Abstract: The invention relates to a mud suction unit having a suction element which is connected to a receiving container and has a motor for the generation of a suction flow and also has a discharging element attached to the receiving container.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing the thickness of arterial walls is disclosed. Ablation of the exterior layer of the arterial walls is performed using mechanical or laser ablation techniques. Surveying is preferably carried out during the procedure to ensure optimal ablation. The ablation reduces the effective thickness of the arterial walls and increases flexibility so that the walls distend under normal blood pressure, thereby improving blood flow. Advantageously, the procedure is carried out without invasion of the blood vessel lumen and without damage to the inner layer of the artery wall.
Abstract: An apparatus for emergency inflation of vehicle tires which includes a air transfer tube communicating at its opposite ends with a pair of air valve chucks each of a size to cooperatively engage and selectively open an air valve of a conventional tire to thereby permit a regulated transfer of air between two or more vehicle tires and wherein a sleeve having a control valve and pressure guage is mounted between one of the valve chucks and the air transfer tube.
Abstract: The shed of a fluidic weaving loom is not changed simultaneously for all warp threads, but rather continuously starting at the weft entrance and continuing helically, so to speak, to the exit of the warp shed. This sequential shed closure takes place with a so-called domino effect along a helical line curved in space, whereby additional time is gained for stretching the inserted weft thread and temporarily stopping the shed formation or shedding is avoided.
Abstract: A protective lock assembly for preventing unauthorized access to a pintle receiving hitch which assembly includes opposing plate members which are mounted on opposite surfaces of the hitch and wherein a tongue carried by one plate member is engageable by a lock whose shackle is protectively seated within a housing which extends from the other plate member.
Abstract: Enclosed cargo containers for high mount automotive vehicle carriers and trailers which are designed to transport special vehicles and other cargo so as to be protected from ambient environment and road conditions. The containers may be fixed or removable mounted within the lower support deck of the vehicle trailers and may include one or a plurality of access doors for facilitating the placement of vehicles and other cargo to be transported and which, in one embodiment, may be adjustable in size so as to increase or decrease the storage space therein dependent upon hauling requirements.
Abstract: The safety device for a band saw which includes a vertically displaceable guard which is slidably mounted to a housing of the saw and having a lower end adjacent the table of saw and wherein a pivotable shield is carried by the lower end of the guard. A locking mechanism normally secures the guard in a lowered covering relationship to a band saw blade and must be manually released to permit raising of the guard to allow a workpiece to be moved beneath the shield to be cut by the band saw blade.

Abstract: A central vacuum cleaning system has a motor in a motor housing in a canister with a receptacle. In the motor housing is a motor control circuit with a printed circuit board. The motor control circuit is mounted to the motor housing using a mounting post having a light guide. The mounting post receives light from a light source on the printed circuit board and guides the light through the mounting post to outside the motor housing. The mounting post can guide the light through structural or non-structural elements. The light provides illuminated information messages to a user. The mounting post has a low voltage connection section for receiving low voltage conductors from outside the motor housing. As the motor control circuit is within the motor housing, the motor housing is a motor control housing. The motor control housing can be separate from the motor housing.
Abstract: A closure divice for a container including a pourer designed to be fixed on a neck of the container wherein the closure device includes a cover assembly adapted to be mounted on the neck and over the pourer. The cover assembly includes a cap movable between a first position wherein it closes the neck and the pourer from the outside and a second position where it allows access to the neck and to the pourer. The pourer is arranged at least partly inside the neck. The cap is provided with a skirt extending, in the first position of the cap, inside the neck. The skirt has at least one flange capable, when the cap is in the first position, of exerting a force urging the pourer against an edge of the neck.
Abstract: A quick connect coupling for joining two pipes which includes a male and a female element adapted to fit axially in each other. A body of the female element is equipped with a resiliently urged bolt mounted to slide in the body and provided with a central opening for receiving the male element. A wall of the opening is equipped with three teeth offset with respect to one another along a median axis of the opening. The male element is provided with a shoulder adapted to rest selectively against one of the teeth. When the male element rests against an intermediate tooth, a the downstream pipe is placed in communication with ambient atmosphere.
Abstract: A method for testing or inspecting the integrity of package closure seals using contact and non-contact ultrasonic systems wherein a relative movement is created between a package seal and at least one ultrasonic transmitting transducer and at least one receiving transducer such that ultrasonic energy is focused so as to be transmitted toward and along a length of the seal from the transmitting transducer to the receiving transducer in a gaseous environment to thereby monitor energy signals which are analyzed to provide an indication of the seal integrity.
Abstract: A ball bearing which includes a cage which defines recesses for receiving balls in a single row. The cage is in the form of a ring obtained by casting or machining and is intended to be interposed between an inner ring and an outer ring of the bearing. The cage includes recesses of a first group each having an opening for positioning a ball located on a first side of the cage, while recesses of a second group each have an opening for positioning a ball located on a second side of the cage, opposite the first side.
Abstract: In a loom with a mechanical weft insertion the motion of each individual warp thread on its way from an uppermost position to a lowermost position and vice verse is controlled individually by a jacquard in such a way, that the motion profile includes a shed stopping in a weft entrance section and simultaneously in a weft exit section of a weaving width of the loom. Shed stopping is avoided in an intermediate section between the weft entrance and exit sections of the weaving width of a loom thereby providing sufficient time for the rapiers or grippers to be withdrawn from the shed without damaging the warp threads.
Abstract: An installation comprising a turbine equipped with a wheel rotatable about an axis (X-X′), and a tank feeding the turbine. The feed tank having, projecting on a plane globally perpendicular to the axis (X-X′), an external spiral shape. The feed tank forms a helico-convergent duct centered on the axis (X-X′) and convergent towards the turbine. The duct is bordered by an outer partition, an inner partition and at least an intermediate partition contributing to the reinforcement of the tank.
Abstract: A method of positioning a malleolar implant for partial or total ankle prosthesis wherein the implant includes a head intended to bear against the astragalus or astragalian prosthetic component and a shank provided to be introduced in a bore in the fibula including providing an orifice in the shank and inserting the implant in the bore by use of force applied along a flexible traction member extending through the orifice.

Abstract: A method of assembly is presented for a multi-wavelength optical monitor (MWOM) for use in fibre optic telecommunication networks. The method allows coarse optimisation to be used to align an input optical fibre and detector array relative to a wavelength division demultiplexing element. The detector array output data are transformed with a digital signal processor into relative intensities of the components of the spectrum or spectral parameters of telecommunication channels.
