  • Patent number: 5639229
Abstract: A fuel pumping apparatus comprises a pumping plunger reciprocable in a bore to supply fuel to the cylinders of an associated engine. A spill valve arrangement is provided to control fuel delivery, the spill valve arrangement including a valve member coupled to a first piston which is slidable within a first cylinder. Passage means are provided in the first piston interconnecting the ends of the first cylinder permitting restricted flow therebetween. A second piston slidable within a second cylinder is arranged to engage an end of the first piston, a spring biasing the second piston towards the first piston and biasing the valve member into engagement with a valve seat. In use, at high engine speed the pressure of fuel between the pistons increases, separating the pistons permitting fuel to escape through a passage provided in the second piston. Such an escape of fuel results in additional fresh, cool, fuel being drawn into the pumping apparatus thus cooling the pumping apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5637032
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for a mobile surfacing machine, preferably for the surfacing of stone floors. A frame supports a drive motor with a motor shaft. A planet disc is rotatably mounted in the fame, with three surfacing discs arranged on shafts rotatably mounted on the planet disc. The surfacing discs are in operative connection with a belt pulley arranged on the drive shaft of the motor via a drive belt running around first belt pulleys arranged on the aforementioned shafts. The shafts of the surfacing discs are so arranged, for the purpose of controlling the rotation of the planet disc, as to be in operative connection with the frame. The operative connection comprises, for example, a belt pulley attached to the frame, second belt pulleys arranged on the shafts of the surfacing discs, and a second belt running around these and the belt pulley attached to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5638041
Abstract: An electromagnetic assembly, for example for a relay, has a magnetic core surrounded by an electrical coil, and an armature closing the magnetic circuit of the electromagnetic assembly. The magnetic core is of the split pole type having a first pole and a second pole, the former being surrounded by a shading ring to produce a phase shift in the magnetic flux in the region of the poles when the electrical coil is energized. A step is provided in the first pole between the shading ring and the armature so that the flux density, and thus the magnetic force, between the first pole and the armature is increased.

  • Patent number: 5630557
Abstract: The invention relates to a stirring mill in whose grinding tank, provided with an inlet and an outlet, and charged with a load of grinding beads, a stirring shaft (stirring mechanism) provided with stirrers, is rotatable, on which, for holding back the grinding beads a separator is mounted ahead of the outlet and is provided with radial openings. The invention is addressed to the problem of creating a stirring mill with a grinding bead separator whose separation limit corresponds to the upper grain size of the fines, by which sieves or filters for holding back the grinding beads are avoided, and which nevertheless sufficiently assures that no grinding beads or particles of dispersants can enter into the finish-ground product. This problem is solved by the fact that the separator is formed by a rotor in the manner of a centrifugal force sifting rotor (6) wherein the passages are formed by the interstices or spaces between every two sifter rotor paddles (10).
