  • Patent number: 5017932
Abstract: A miniature antenna, in which a pair of square conductor plates disposed in parallel with a spacing sufficiently smaller than the wavelength used are fixed to each other to an insulating frame to form an antenna structure which is used also as a case. Feeding terminals are provided at a desired position on one side of each of the conductor plates. High-frequency-wise short-circuit elements are provided at a plurality of positions on other sides of the conductor plates. A gravity-direction sensor, which produces an output in accordance with the direction of gravity, is provided in the case. The plurality of short-circuit elements are selectively short-circuited by the output of the gravity-direction sensor so that the plane of polarization of the antenna is brought into agreement with the direction of gravity.

  • Patent number: 5013072
Abstract: The connection has two inserted tubes, one of which, the outer tube (6), is enlarged in order to form a casing (8) for housing two support pads (10) which are held tightly between the two tubes and a radial projection (12) of the inner tube. A gasket (14, 15) with a section in the shape of a recumbent V and which has a cylindrical flange for bearing against the inner tube and a convex flange for bearing against the outer tube, is mounted on each of the ends of the casing (8). The two gaskets face in opposite directions and are fitted onto the pads which hold them tightly. The convex flange (18) is preferably spherical only for a part of its length. This spherical part forms the surface for rubbing against the casing and enables a relative displacement of these two members with no risk of the tightness failing.

  • Patent number: 5004417
Abstract: A color dental kit and method of specifying and illustrating coloring of synthetic dental elements such as individual teeth, crowns and the like to be made synthetically by imaging the individual teeth or crowns on a sheet of paper divided into light and dark incisal color tones. The color is effected with color pencils having a soft lead of the colors corresponding to gingival and incisal natural color shades. Some of the color pencils have leads for coloring specific color characteristics such as flaws including decalcification. The color pencils are provided in the color dental kit including therewith paper sheets on which imaging of the individual synthetic teeth and crowns is effected and the images are manually colored with the pencils as desired. These colored images provide positive dentition communication between and among dentists, patients and dental laboratory technicians.

  • Patent number: 5002337
Abstract: A stackable chair has a leg frame on which a seat and back are mounted. The leg frame comprises two lengths of flat tubing of dumb-bell shaped cross section bent to provide contiguous parallel portions which extend centrally transversely of the seat, portions extending from the ends of the parallel portions toward corner regions of the seat and portions bent downwardly to form the legs which are substantially in a vertical fore-and-aft plane but incline forwardly and rearwardly. When the chairs are stacked the legs of dumb-bell cross section nest with one another. The seat has a width substantially equal to the overall width of the leg frame and has cut-out corner regions to accommodate legs of superposed chairs when stacked. • Patent number: 5003393
Abstract: The described control signal generator for processing a video signal is characterized by an addressable memory (PR1) whose addresses are associated with equally long time intervals of a video picture. The binary coded amplitude is stored at an address of the memory (PR1), which amplitude is to be assumed by the control signal (SS) generated by the control signal generator in the associated time interval. A counting unit (Z) which is clocked by a counter clock pulse (T) successively generates the addresses corresponding to consecutive time intervals of a video picture and being applied to the address inputs of the addressable memory (PR1). The frequency of the counter clock pulse (T) is chosen to be such that all addresses associated with a video picture are traversed during the time length of a video picture.

  • Patent number: 5003272
Abstract: The invention relates to the synchronization of a frequency-controllable oscillator in a PLL circuit with a carrier. The adjustment of this oscillator to the carrier frequency can be dispensed with in that additionally a frequency discriminator is provided which initially tunes the oscillator in accordance with the frequency difference. The frequency discriminator compares each oscillator frequency with a stable reference frequency which is proximate to the desired frequency and tunes the oscillator until it is in the range of the reference frequency. Subsequently the frequency discriminator is blocked and the further synchronization is taken over by the phase discriminator in the PLL circuit.

  • Patent number: 4999587
Abstract: In a waveguide oscillator, a Gunn diode or other negative-resistance oscillator device (2) has a resonant cap (3) for coupling to the waveguide (1), and a tuning varactor diode (11) is coupled by a probe (13) to the electromagnetic filed in the vicinity of the cap (3).
