    Abstract: A packaging component having an inflatable peripheral portion and an interior portion having one or more non-inflatable regions which are shaped to conform to one or more portions of an end or a side of a product so that, when the component is inflated, the component fits firmly and snugly against an end or side of the product. A plurality of such components can be integrally formed in a selected pattern adjacent one another to fit firmly and snugly against the ends or sides of a plurality of products which are corresponding positioned adjacent one another. A pair of such components can also be hingedly connected in an integral fashion so that, when inflated, they can be folded together to enclose a product therebetween.

    Abstract: The present invention is based upon the discovery that a MeOH extract of Anabaena affinis strain VS-1 showed strong cytotoxicity to L1210 murine leukemia cells, and from that extract was isolated the compounds having the following structures, Compounds 1 and 2. These two compounds are believed to be responsible for the cytotoxicity of the marine organism. This is the first report of the isolation and characterization of pyrrolo[3,2-d] pyrimidine derivatives as biosynthetic products.

    Abstract: The active component of the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention is a compound which has been isolated from the controlled aerobic fermentation of a marine microorganism, Agrobacterium sp. PH-103. The pharmaceutical compositions of the present invention, useful for post surgical graft tolerance, are thus directed to compositions comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient, and an effective amount of the compound having the formula: ##STR1## This compound, known as Sesbanimide, is an alkaloid that has been previously been isolated from seeds and reported to be useful as an antitumor drug. Prior to the present invention however, this compound had not been isolated from any fermentation broth nor had it been determined to have immunomodulatory activity.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to water-free, co-solvent free, stable, dispersions of certain polydimethylsiloxanes in certain nonionic, poloxamer surfactants; wherein:a. the dispersed polydimethylsiloxanes, which are insoluble in said surfactant, are oriented by the surfactant such that when dispersed in water they are particularly adept at forming oriented, monolayer coatings on various substrates, andb. the particle size of the dispersed polydimethylsiloxane is from between about 0.5 and about 10 microns, with a particle size distribution such that from between about 80 and 95% of the dispersed polydimethylsiloxane is within this particle size range. These stable dispersions are described as ultramulsions, which, together with their physical properties, distinguishes them from emulsions, microemulsions and solutions.

    Abstract: The present invention is based upon the discovery that the methanol extract of the bryozoan Myriapora truncata showed potent cytotoxicity against L1210 murine leukemia cells (99% inhibition at 50 .mu.g/mL). Fractionation and purification of active components from this extract, guided by a cytotoxicity assay, resulted in the isolation of a novel, highly cytotoxic polyketide-derived metabolite MT-332 (Compound 3) and its equilibrium isomer (Compound 4), along with two less active compounds, MT-381 (Compound 1) and MT-381-B (Compound 2). The equilibrium mixture of Compounds 3 and 4 showed 88% inhibition at 0.2 .mu.g/mL against L1210 cells.

    Abstract: A connectorized capillary and in-line flow cell system which greatly expedites the construction of capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) and other separation instrumentation. A capillary is mounted within a cavity formed in a body, and a mechanical fastener is positioned about the body. The inner diameter of the fastener is less than the outer diameter of the body, so that the connector may be firmly coupled to any system component having a corresponding portion adapted to accept the fastener. The connectorized capillaries thus permit permanent or semi-permanent attachment to various in-line flow cell devices such as detectors, valves, buffer reservoirs and the like. For example, an in-line conductivity detector is assembled by connecting a conductivity meter to the opposing ends of the flow cell body. Annular sensing surfaces can also be provided within the cell.

A plastic coupling element couples the first and second elements and a valve is used to permit air under pressure to be supplied to, or to be released from, the first and second elements so that they can be inflated and deflated. The elements are preferably made of laminates of a polyurethane plastic material. A plurality of said components when inflated can be manipulated into suitable cushion configurations which can be placed, for example, at each corner of a product which product can then be placed in a container so that the components provide a snug fit of the product therein and protect the product during shipment or other handling thereof.
