  • Patent number: 8099301
Abstract: A method of processing drug prescriptions via a communications network includes registering doctors, pharmacies and patients as participants such that each registered participant's identity is uniquely defined and determinable. Registered doctors from which prescriptions are received via the communications network have their identities authenticated. Each of the received prescriptions indicates a respective registered patient's identity for whom the prescription is intended. Registered patients from which orders are received via the communications network also have their identities authenticated. Each of the received orders indicates the prescription being ordered. • Patent number: 8094973
Abstract: A method, computer readable medium, and computing device for resizing images. A digital image arranged in a rectangular array of pixels is received for resizing in either a horizontal direction or a vertical direction. An energy value is computed for each of the pixels, and pixels are connected to form extended 8-connectivity seams, with each seam having a cumulative energy value. The digital image is segmented into segments corresponding to lines of text and/or images. A seam is selected to best maintain proportionality of white space in the segments when the seam is either replicated or deleted. The selected seam then replicated or deleted. At least the seam selection and replication or deletion is repeated until the resized image is the desired size. The resized image is then outputted to a display screen, storage device, and/or printer.

  • Patent number: 8095593
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for managing electronic information and related devices where electronic information is forwarded from at least one electronic information source of a plurality of electronic information sources towards at least one terminal of at least one corresponding user of a plurality of terminals of corresponding users through a communications network. The at least one electronic information source of the plurality of electronic information sources sends electronic information towards the at least one terminal of at least one corresponding user. The terminal of a first user and terminals of users related to this first user send their electronic information preferences towards a community interest management module. The community interest management module subsequently determines community information preferences based on the information preferences of the first user and based on the information preferences of the users related to the first user.

  • Patent number: 8092896
Abstract: The present invention discloses cellular confinement systems (CCSs) with improved friction with infill at low normal pressure. The invention especially presents novel flaps-containing CCS that includes inter alia a plurality of elongated strips arranged in a side by side pattern, each of the strip is segmentally bonded to an adjacent strip in spaced-apart bonding areas, said bonding areas alternating between the sides of each of said strips, such that when the system is stretched across its width, the strips curl to form a web of cells confined by cell walls disposed between the bonding areas, wherein at least one of the cell walls comprises at least one flap hinged to the wall and friction between the walls and the infill material increases.

  • Patent number: 8094947
Abstract: A method and a system for forming an inset image are disclosed. The method includes identifying a region of interest in an original image. An inset is generated, based on the region of interest. A region of low interest is identified in the original image. The inset is applied to the region of low interest to form an inset image. The region of interest is scaled differently from the inset in the inset image. The method can proceed automatically or substantially automatically, without the need for significant user input.

  • Patent number: 8092723
Abstract: An optical diffraction grating (10) is produced by providing a mold (50) having a plurality of inclined grooves (58), which have a small clearance angle (?). The mold (50) is covered by a curable material (M1). Said material is subsequently cured, i.e. hardened, and separated from the mold (50) to provide the diffraction grating (10). The inclined orientation of the grooves (58) allows expansion or contraction of the grating during the curing and separation steps such that the probability of mold breakage may be reduced. The inclined orientation of the grooves may also facilitate the separation of the grating (10) from the mold (50).

  • Patent number: 8089668
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate improving error estimation for calibration error due to clipping of pixels, and compensation therefor, during calibration of a scanner or printer. Calibration patches are measured at a first maximum pixel value threshold and at a slightly lower threshold value. Pixel values for the patches at each threshold are averaged, and a linear model is constructed, which is employed to predict error due to pixel clipping. The error is then compensated for when calibrating the scanner or printer.

  • Patent number: 8090282
Abstract: A fusing apparatus includes a fuser roll and a pressure roll which define a nip therebetween. An internal heat source is disposed within a interior of the fuser roll. An external heat source is disposed adjacent the fuser roll for heating an outer surface of the fuser roll. One or both of the internal heat source and the external heat source is controlled during a print job such that the thermal gradient across the fuser roll is adjusted. As a result, a temperature overshoot which generally occurs after the print job is finished can be reduced. The influence of subsequent jobs on the fuser roll surface temperature can also be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 8089374
Abstract: A signal is described that includes one or more LEDs that emit light and a lens that receives and collimates the light from the LED array. A distribution optic receives light from the collimating lens and distributes the light in a predetermined pattern according to a specification.
