  • Patent number: 8116585
Abstract: A method of detecting background noise in a rendered electronic image derived from an electronic image includes capturing a rendered image to generate captured image data. From the captured image data, a subset of the image data corresponding to a region of interest in the electronic image comprising only blank pixels is identified. • Patent number: 8115795
Abstract: An optical scanning device projects an image onto a photoreceptor within a print system. A laser light source generates a plurality of light beam outputs, wherein the light beam outputs are arranged in a two-dimensional parallelogram array within a substantially horizontal axis and a substantially vertical axis that is perpendicular to the horizontal axis. The two-dimensional parallelogram array has an odd number of rows of light beam outputs, wherein each row has an equal even number of light beam outputs. A rotating polygon mirror includes a plurality of deflecting surfaces, each of the deflecting surfaces deflects the light beams emitted from the laser light source. The light beam output array projects a first swath N onto the photoreceptor via the rotating mirror and swaths [N+1, N+2, . . . ] are subsequently placed at a level one-half down the number of light beam outputs of the previous swath. Each swath has the identical number of light emitting outputs as the two-dimensional array.

  • Patent number: 8117617
Abstract: A printing system and method for processing print jobs in a network of printers are disclosed. The printers each have high and low operational states. A job ticket is associated with each print job. The job ticket designates one of the network printers as a target printer for printing the job and includes print job parameters related to redirection and delay for the print job. Where the target printer for the print job is in the low operational state, the print job related redirection and delay parameters for the job are identified. Based on the identified parameters, the print job may be scheduled for at least one of redirection and delay, where the parameters for redirection/delay permit, whereby the likelihood that the print job is printed sequentially with another print job on one of the network printers, without that one printer entering an intervening low operational state, is increased.

  • Patent number: 8114680
Abstract: A tube and float system for use in separation and axial expansion of the buffy coat includes a transparent or semi-transparent, flexible sample tube and a rigid separator float having a specific gravity intermediate that of red blood cells and plasma. The float includes a main body portion of reduced diameter to provide a clearance gap between the inner wall of the sample tube and the float. One or more protrusions on the main body portion serve to support the flexible tube. During centrifugation, the centrifugal force causes the diameter of the flexible tube to expand and permit density-based axial movement of the float in the tube. The float further includes a pressure relief system to alleviate pressure build up in the trapped red blood cell blood fraction below the float, thereby preventing red blood cells from being forced into the annular gap containing the buffy coat layers.

  • Patent number: 8115099
Abstract: An industrial automation input output module is protected against ingress of water, oil, debris, dirt and other contaminants without use of a potting compound. An elastomeric main seal provides a fluid-tight connection between inter-fitted inner and outer housing members that define a housing of the module. The one-piece main seal includes an integral light pipe portion with at least one light pipe that communicates light from an LED or other light source to a visual indicator opening in the housing, and the light pipe portion is also sealed to the housing to prevent ingress of contaminants through the visual indicator opening. Connectors pass through a wall of the housing and connector seals are used to prevent ingress of contaminants between the connectors and the housing. The connectors are also secured against rotation relative to the housing.

  • Patent number: 8113986
Abstract: A flexible pin for a helical gear system. A countering realignment equal and opposite to the misalignment caused by the overturning moment and other gear forces is created without adding components or wearing surfaces. On the pin elements, one or more different or varying cross sections with the principal axes of their sections non-vertically orientated utilize the tangential and radial forces to cause deflections in two planes to perfectly compensate for misalignment caused by helical gear forces, thus keeping the mesh aligned the same as when using spur gears and traditional flexpins.

  • Patent number: 8117134
Abstract: A system calculates appropriate billing within an imaging pipeline. An input component receives an image that is described as a plurality of pixels. A PDL component receives the image and determines a location, a color and a designation for each of the one or more pixels. A marking engine modifies the one or more pixels based at least in part on the location and the color provided by the PDL component and places each of the one or more pixels as a monochrome or a composite pixel on a substrate. An analysis component counts the number of monochrome and composite pixels placed on the substrate by the marking engine, the number of composite pixels that include a designation are counted as monochrome. A billing component calculates the cost for placing each of the monochrome and the composite pixels counted by the analysis component.
