Abstract: A system for advertising on a networked printer includes a target entity and a trusted source entity. The target entity includes a networked printer and a plurality of work stations operated by a respective plurality of users. Each workstation communicates with the networked printer. The networked printer includes a controller configured to generate a banner sheet. The banner sheet includes user identifying printer indicia for distinguishing different print jobs that are printed by the networked printer. The trusted source entity includes an advertisement delivery device in communication with the controller of the networked printer. The advertisement delivery device communicates with the controller of the networked printer to deliver an advertisement that is printed on the banner sheet generated by the networked printer. The advertisement is printed in addition to the user identifying printing indicia that is already printed on the banner sheet.
Abstract: Methods of forming nanocomposites comprising a polymer and metal nanoparticles are disclosed. The nanoparticles are disposed within a matrix of the polymer. In particular, the nanoparticles are formed in situ in an extruder. The methods comprise providing a reaction mixture comprising a polymer, a metal precursor, and a solvent and extruding the reaction mixture to form a polymer nanocomposite. The methods overcome nanoparticle dispersion issues arising from melt blending processes.

Abstract: The aim of the present invention is a sub-reflector of a dual-reflector antenna comprising: a first end having a junction of a first diameter, adapted for coupling to the end of a waveguide, a second end, having a second diameter greater than the first diameter, a convex reflective internal surface placed at the second end having an axis of revolution, an external surface of the same axis, joining the two ends, a dielectric material extending between the first and the second ends and limited by the internal surface and the external surface, In accordance with the invention, the external surface has a convex profile described by a polynomial equation of the sixth degree of the formula: y=ax6+bx5+cx4+dx3+ex2+fx+g where a is not zero.
Abstract: A centralized system for the monitoring of remote multimedia signals which monitors and assesses the quality of the services distributed over an IP packet telecommunications network (30) comprising a plurality of customer premises equipment (22-2), one of the items of such equipment being connectable to an access gateway (21), such as a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM), via a line (23) susceptible of receiving multimedia content such as data, voice and video over IP; the said content being returned direct to the access multiplexer via a return line (24).
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method for communicating in a wireless communication network (1) comprising a number of cells (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) served by respective base stations (3). According to the proposed method, the following steps are performed: splitting up one at least one of a frequency bandwidth and a time interval allocated to the communication in at least a first part and a second part; using said first part for communication according to a first reuse scheme; and using said second part for communication according to a second reuse scheme.
Abstract: A method of fabricating fibres of silicon or silicon-based material comprises the steps of etching pillars on a substrate and detaching them. A battery anode can then be created by using the fibres as the active material in a composite anode electrode.
Abstract: A system using a spatial correction to improve the result of a printer calibration and correction is described. More particularly, in one form, a spatial correction may be used to pre-condition a printer for an improved color calibration. In another form, spatial correction and color calibration are addressed in the same process for color correction.
Abstract: A system and method enable semi-automated generation of query expansion rules for searching a knowledge base. Candidate synonymy pairs are automatically extracted from queries made by users when searching a knowledge base. Synonymy rules are defined, based on the extracted candidate synonymy pairs, and may be context dependent. Query expansion rules based on the defined synonymy rules can then be exported to a storage medium for use in expansion of new user queries when searching the knowledge base.

Abstract: A process and an apparatus separate a volatile component from a substance mixture (raw product). The substance mixture is heated, the volatile component is at least partly evaporated and then the vapor formed is condensed. To improve the separating action, the condensate, in the region of the point of condensation, is contacted with a liquid in which the condensate dissolves.
Abstract: Disclosed is a bidirectional media sheet transport apparatus. The transport apparatus includes one or more belt driven bidirectional nip assemblies aligned to transport one or more media sheets along a bidirectional path. In addition, disclosed are belt tensioning devices to apply multiple tension forces to a belt operatively engaging the one or more bidirectional nip assemblies. Also disclosed is a bidirectional baffle apparatus to enable bidirectional travel of a media sheet from one module to another module.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyethylene composition, comprising a base resin which comprises (i) a first fraction which is an ethylene homo- or copolymer, and (ii) a second fraction which is an ethylene copolymer, wherein the first fraction (i) has a lower weight average molecular weight than the second fraction (ii), and the base resin has a density of less than 0.940 g/cm3 and a shear thinning index SHI2.7/210 of at least 25.

Abstract: Methods of adding substituents to a benzodithiophene are disclosed. A benzodithiophene is reacted with a reagent to directly add the substituent to the benzene core of the benzodithiophene. This method eliminates steps from prior process and eliminates the need for hydrogenation, allowing for a safer and more scaleable process. The resulting benzodithiophenes are suitable for use in semiconductor polymers and have no loss of performance.
