  • Patent number: 5599390
Abstract: A lock valve disposed between a pulling pot and a lock chamber is opened at the start of the pulling process and thereby uncovers a lock entrance for the crystal that is to be pulled, and together with a gasket closes the lock entrance after the end of the pulling process and thereby hermetically separates the pulling pot from the lock chamber. The gasket (9) is protected during the pulling of the crystal by a guard (15, 16) against the thermal radiation of the hot crystal.

  • Patent number: 5597609
Abstract: Lenses are brought individually or in pairs on a transport device (12) to a continuous vacuum apparatus (1) equipped with a rotating substrate carrier (3). The eyeglass lenses (13) are introduced through a system of locks (15) into the continuous vacuum apparatus (1), where they are coated in at least one controllable coating station (5, 6, 7) with at least one transparent layer and then sent back to the transport device (12). The eyeglass lenses (13) are given codes (18), and the codes are read by a code reader (19). The coating parameters of the individual coating stations (5, 6, 7) and the drive of the substrate carrier (3) are controlled by the code reader (19).

  • Patent number: 5597622
Abstract: The invention relates to a process of providing a scratch-resistant coating for a lens made of an optical material comprising synthetics. In order for the synthetic material, for example a CR 39, to be protected against scratches, a very thin adhesion layer of SiO is applied first, and is subsequently provided with a thick SiO.sub.2 layer. Both layers are deposited in a vacuum chamber which comprises both a thermal vaporizer for vaporizing the coating materials and a plasma source for irradiating the substrate simultaneously with application of the vaporized coating material.

  • Patent number: 5595483
Abstract: Materials containing vaporizable substances are exposed successively in at least two treatment chambers (10, 13, 14), which can be closed off with respect to each other, to a series of decreasing pressures and increasing temperatures. The vaporizable substances are exhausted separately from each treatment chamber (10, 13, 14) and at least partially condensed and collected. The solid materials are discharged from the last treatment chamber (14). The treatment chambers (10, 13, 14) can be closed off against each other, against the atmosphere, and against any other units which may be connected to them downline (17, 18) by vacuum valves (11, 12, 115, 16) and are connected to vacuum lines (10a, 13a, 14a) in which condensers (10b, 13b, 14b) and vacuum pumps (10c, 13c, 14c) are installed.

  • Patent number: 5595741
Abstract: The invention concerns new aminoalkylmaleimides of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and represent hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group and A represents a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkylene group with 2 to 6 carbon atoms which is interrupted, if desired, by an oxygen or sulphur atom or a carbonyl group, as well as their corresponding acid addition salts. The present invention also concerns amidoalkylmaleimide derivatives formed from compounds of the general formula I and immunological binding partners. In addition, the invention concerns immunological conjugates which can be produced by reaction of the amidoalkylmaleimide derivatives with peptides or proteins. The subject matter of the present invention are also the corresponding processes of production of the compounds according to the present invention as well as the use of these conjugates in diagnostic methods of determination, in particular in immunoassays.

  • Patent number: 5593555
Abstract: In a monopolar electrolysis cell for chlor-alkali electrolysis by the diaphragm or membrane process, the cathodic and anodic electrode structures extend in the vertical direction, the anodic structure being surrounded by the cathodic electrode structure. In the area of the active electrode surfaces, an upward-directed flow of electrolyte-gas mixture is produced as a result of the gas bubbles generated electrolytically in the electrode gap, whereupon the electrolyte is then degassed. The degassed electrolyte, because of its higher specific gravity, then flows down through a flow channel inside the anodic electrode structure, this channel being formed by vertically oriented feed conductors and U-shaped flow guide plates.
