  • Patent number: 4128799
Abstract: To compensate for voltage drop upon high loading of an automotive type alternator, the output of which is rectified, a main semi-conductor control switch is connected to control the output voltage of the alternator by selectively connecting, and disconnecting current flow through the field winding of the alternator. A voltage divider is used to obtain a control voltage for the main semi-conductor switch. An auxiliary sensing circuit is connected to sense waviness, or ripple content of the output voltage and, if it exceeds a pre-determined limit, controls an auxiliary semi-conductor switch which is connected to the voltage divider to modify the voltage division ratio thereof and thereby change the regulating effect of the main semi-conductor switch.

  • Patent number: 4128237
Abstract: A card guideway frame is movable in the width direction of a card to select the column in which a hole is to be punched and the card insertion depth is variable to determine the spacing between the bottom edge of the card and the hole. The insertion depth is set by a stop passing through the wide aperture of the guideway frame and a carriage resting on a projection of the stop and movable along the length of the guideway frame with the stop carries a pair of guide plates having a narrow slit between them for the card and practically filling the aperture in the frame, so as to constrain the card into a flat shape, correcting any arching and resisting any bending from insertion forces, even though the frame restrains only the extreme edges of the card at the sides of the working area.

  • Patent number: 4128126
Abstract: Heat exchanger matrices of the folded strip type are set in an elongated V onfiguration inside a tubular casing. They are held in position by braces between opposite cover plates and between other cover plates and the casing, which braces also operate as partition walls for separating inlet and outlet channels of one of the media. The cooler of the media has inlet ducts downwards on the edges of the space inside the V and an outlet duct for upward flow at the center of the space inside the V. The other medium, which is hotter, but under less pressure, has inlet ducts with upward flow at the center of the spaces outside the V and outlet ducts with downward flow at the edges of the spaces outside the V. The hotter parts of the heat exchanger are in the middle of the structure. Bellows-type thermal expansion compensators seal the edges of the V against the casing.

  • Patent number: 4127879
Abstract: A data read-write apparatus for a magnetic recording medium, wherein, when data represented by coded signals are written in a magnetic recording medium, a binary "1" signal of at least one bit is written in the magnetic recording medium ahead of data being written upon receipt of a clock pulse from a clock pulse oscillator; thereafter a series of binary coded signals denoting the content of the data are written in the magnetic recording medium; when the data are read out from the magnetic recording medium, the binary code "1" signal is first detected; upon said detection, the phase of clock pulses issued from the clock pulse oscillator are synchronized with the timing in which the binary coded "1" signal is read out; upon receipt of a phase-synchronized clock pulse, other binary coded signals stored in the magnetic recording medium in succession to the binary coded "1" signal are read out in synchronization with clock pulses sent forth from the clock pulse oscillator; and the clock pulse oscillator successive

  • Patent number: 4127092
Abstract: A universally applicable system should permit easy matching of ignition timing characteristics to specific engines. In order to control a digital electronic ignition system, a marker signal is generated when a piston has reached a predetermined angular position with respect to upper dead center (UDC) position, and additional marker signals are generated as the piston moves, for example by sensing the teeth on a starwheel coupled to the engine or, for example, in an automotive engine by providing signals each time a tooth of the starter gear passes by a transducer. Two counter stages are provided which go through two count cycles for any one ignition event. The marker starts counting of both counters. The first counter stage counts for a predetermined time interval to provide a speed-dependent output number which is stored in a multiplex or memory stage, the output of which is blocked while the second counter counts.
