  • Patent number: 5444813
Abstract: In order to simplify mounting and rearrangement of the infra-red lamps, and to minimize the size of unheated zones, an assembly plate (1) is formed with a pattern of assembly apertures (3) having at least three-fold symmetry. The bases (2) of the lamps (6) are formed with electrical passages (4) and fastening holes (5) whose spacing is compatible with the assembly aperture pattern. The electrical terminals are formed as contact pins (17) which project perpendicular to the quartz glass tube axis, set back from the ends (8,9) thereof, and make contact with a power supply in the electrical passages (4) in the bases (2). Multiple infra-red lamps (6) can thus be mounted closely adjacent to each other on the assembly plate (1), and the mounting configuration can be changed, e.g. by 90.degree. rotation of a lamp, with minimal rewiring effort. The completed system is suitable for surface heating or drying of products passing by on a conveyor belt or other production line.

  • Patent number: 5444678
Abstract: A magneto-optic recording magnetic head applies first and second magnetic fields to a magneto-optic disk having a recording film. The first magnetic field is used in a magnetic field modulation mode and the second magnetic field is utilized in a light modulation mode. The head comprises a yoke formed of a magnetic substance and having an opposing surface which opposes the recording film of the magneto-optic disk. A magnetic gap is formed between the yoke and a main magnetic pole magnetically coupled to the yoke. A cross-sectional area of the gap on a plane parallel to the recording film of the magneto-optic recording medium changes depending on whether the first or second magnetic field is generated, to maximize strengths of the first and second magnetic fields in accordance with the distance between the opposing surface of the yoke and the recording film of the disk.

  • Patent number: 5444553
Abstract: An image data processing apparatus binary-codes an image signal obtained from an image sensor of the CCD type or the like so as to output a binary-coded image signal. The image signal obtained from the image sensor A/D-converted into digital image data. Based upon the digital image data, average values of luminance values of the digital image data are calculated for an array of pixels in a preselected area of the CCD. This average value is used as a threshold level for binary coding the image data for these pixels at the center portion of this preselected area. Furthermore, to detect coutours this data processing apparatus calculates a gradient in the luminance values of the pixels in a portion of the preselected area of the CCD in an X direction and a Y direction, and the gradient value is used to obtain binary-coded data in accordance with the above-described method.

  • Patent number: 5444626
Abstract: It is known for a central electronic control unit in a motor vehicle to exchange data through a serial data bus with other control units, e.g. those for fuel injection, ignition timing, and braking. Prior art systems transmitted these data automatically, regardless of whether all these parameters were relevant to the actual operating state of the vehicle, thereby resulting in heavy loading of the serial bus. The present invention determines which parameters are irrelevant to the current operating state and suppresses transmission, or even calculation, of these irrelevant parameters.

  • Patent number: 5442830
Abstract: A floor mop has a carrier plate (1), on which two U-shaped frame parts (5, 6) are mounted for receiving a removable cover (20), which is provided with flexible plastic parts reinforcing the lengthwise edges. One frame part (6) is pivotably supported in the carrier plate (1) to pivot about a crosswise axis (A). It is held in its extended position by a locking protrusion (11). To pivot the frame part (6) for removing the cover (20), a lever (12) is supported on the carrier plate (1) pivotable about an axis (B, 15). The lever engages the frame part (6) at a point (13) which is located at a distance from the axis (B, 15) and from the lock (11). When the lever (12) is pressed downwardly, e.g. by stepping on it, the frame part (6) is pivoted downwardly and the legs of the U-frame spread, thus overcoming the locking effect of the locking means (11).

  • Patent number: 5442709
Abstract: In a circuit for decoding a multiplex signal in a stereo receiver, where the multiplex signal contains a composite signal (L+R) in the base band, a subcarrier modulated with a difference signal (L-R), and a pilot signal with half the frequency of the subcarrier, the multiplex signal in digital form is multiplied (2, 3) by a reference carrier generated with a sampling clock signal (14) produced in the radio receiver, where the reference carrier is present in two phase positions shifted 90.degree. with respect to each other. The mix or product signals resulting from this multiplication are multiplied (4, 5) by one correction signal each, thus forming corrected mix signals. The corrected mix signals are added (6) and supplied to a matrix circuit (8, 9), together with the composite signal, to create respective stereo audio channel signals (L, R).

  • Patent number: 5442125
Abstract: A signal processing apparatus according to the present invention is used as a sound source, an effecting machine and/or a communication equipment, which simultaneously generates or processes a plurality of musical tones and sounds on the basis of a plurality of input data such as performance data, musical tone data and/or communication data. This signal processing apparatus stores a program prepared for controlling operation to generate or process musical tones and sounds only for one channel. The program is read out in accordance with a lower bit of a readout counter. A upper bit of the readout counter is used to designate a channel to which the generated or processed musical tones and sounds are assigned in accordance with the read out program. As a result, only a small area is required for storing the program and a simple construction may be employed in the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5441627
Abstract: There is provided a metal foil manufacturing method, in which a metal foil is manufactured by forming a thin metal layer by electrodepositing a metal on the surface of a cathode through an electrolytic reaction, and then separating the thin metal layer from the cathode surface. In doing this, an anodized film forming apparatus is mounted on an exposed surface of the cathode exposed after the separation of the metal layer, and is operated to subject the exposed surface of the cathode continuously or intermittently to electrolytic oxidation, thereby forming an anodized film on the exposed surface.
