Abstract: In a method of manufacturing an ink-jet printer which uses a thin film sheet having adhesive layers respectively formed on the top and bottom sides, as an orifice plate, orifices are formed in the ink-ejecting side of the thin film sheet after the adhesive layer on that ink-ejecting side has been removed. This prevents the formation of the orifices from being adversely affected by any otherwise residual of the adhesive layer and can thus permit accurate formation of orifices of a desired shape. Even if helicon-wave dry etching which ensure fast etching using high-power energy is used to form orifices, therefore, no adhesive layer is thermally expanded to be a residual so that multiple orifices can be formed simultaneously and quickly.

Abstract: A handwritten data input device has a coordinate detection tablet for detecting writing data input by handwriting using an input pen and a program storage medium. When a predetermined preprocess is required for an input process to accept writing data input by handwriting from the tablet, useless handwritten input can be effectively avoided when the preprocess has not been completed. In the handwritten data input device, a CPU determines whether the preprocess has been completed when the input pen approaches the tablet and, if the preprocess has not been completed, drives a buzzer to generate an alarm tone, thereby notifying the operator that the handwritten input is invalid in advance.

Abstract: A user of a portable terminal writes sentences to be transmitted as an e-mail, a mail address, and information indicating that service a host device is requested to provide is “mail transmission” on paper as a memo. By using an image input unit installed in the portable terminal, the paper or the like is imaged. The portable terminal transmits the image data thus taken in to the host device. The host device analyzes received image data by using an image recognition unit. Upon recognizing by characters that the service requested by the portable terminal is “mail transmission”, the host device starts a mail transmitting/receiving unit. The mail transmitting/receiving unit transmits the content of the written memo included in the image data to a terminal specified by the mail address included in the image data.
Abstract: In a magnetic sensor having soft magnetic metallic elements disposed in opposite sides of a bridge circuit for sensing an external magnetic field by using a phenomenon where a skin depth of the soft magnetic metallic elements changes in dependence on a strength of the external magnetic field, each of the soft magnetic metallic elements is formed in a zigzag shape having parallel sections extending in a direction of the external magnetic field. The soft magnetic metallic element may have a multi-layer structure where soft magnetic layers are laminated with a non-magnetic insulator layer interposed therebetween.
Abstract: A blur detecting section detects a blurred state of a camera body. A photographing condition determining section determines at least photographing conditions and a state of use of the camera body. A first blur preventing section performs a first blur preventing operation in accordance with a result of blur detection by the blur detecting section. A second blur preventing section performs a second blur preventing operation in accordance with a result of blur detection by the blur detecting section. A blur preventing control section selects one of the first and second blur preventing sections in accordance with a result of determination by the photographing conditions determining section. A blur preventing mode selecting section is connected to the blur preventing control section, and allows the blur preventing control section to switch control modes.

Abstract: An image printing apparatus comprises a storage section and a control section. The storage section stores an absorbing speed information in a storage area, the absorption speed information is a measured speed at which a recording medium used for a printing process absorbs an ink used for the printing process. And the control section controls an ink head so as to perform first dot recording which records a plurality of dots on the recording medium by a pitch of an ink ejection opening of the ink head, and moves the recording medium relatively with the ink head and controls the ink head so as to perform second dot recording which records a plurality of dots between a plurality of dots recorded by first dot recording, in accordance with a print interval time determined based on the absorption speed information stored in the storage section.
Abstract: In an image display device, a ROM contains a plurality of image data indicative of the actions of an animal character. A RAM includes a plurality of action level registers each stores for each of which image data the state of inputs given to select and display the image data. The user gives a command corresponding to a respective image of an animal character to select and display the action of the animal character optionally. When a random number corresponding to the command is generated, image data which does not correspond to the input command can be displayed. If the generated random number has a particular value, the value of an action level register for the image data corresponding to the command is updated. Such operation is iterated and thus the value of the action level register is updated.

Abstract: A dot code contains a plurality of data dots arranged according to the data to be recorded and markers providing data dot read reference points for reading the data dots and showing a predetermined relationship relative to the data dots in terms of a predetermined physical characteristic quantity, the data dots and the markers being arranged to show a predetermined positional relationship according a predetermined format.
