  • Patent number: 5651603
Abstract: An opening (3) in a reflector (2) of a vehicle headlight serves to receive a lamp (1). The lamp can be seated against a surface with three support points (4) facing a direction opposite to a mounting direction. The support points are at apexes of a triangle (30) surrounding a lamp axis (7). One of these support points corresponds to a positioning tab (8) extending radially outwardly from a lamp socket (5) which can be seated in a recess (9). A spring holding element (10) applies a force on the socket of the lamp between the positioning tab and the lamp axis in a mounting direction of the lamp as well as toward a fixing element (11).

  • Patent number: 5644236
Abstract: In a two-channel magnetic metal detector having first and second mutually inductively coupled detection coils connected to first and second detection channels, respectively, the inductance of the coils is tested by applying a square wave test signal to the first detection coil and determining if the resulting output signal from the second detection channel has a magnitude falling within a range of magnitudes defined by two threshold values stored in a non-volatile memory. A microcomputer applies digital signals to a digital to analog converter to generate the square wave. The output signal from the second detection channel is repetitively sampled and digitized and the digital values are transferred to the microcomputer which includes means for comparing the digital values with the threshold values.

  • Patent number: 5627475
Abstract: A metal detector comprises a detection coil disposed in a magnetic field, the ends of the coil being connected through a balanced resistor network to the inputs of a differential amplifier. A test signal is injected into the metal detector at a point such that the coil is effectively in series with one branch of the balanced resistor network. The injected signal produces a potential difference at the inputs of the differential amplifier, the magnitude of the potential difference being dependent on the resistance of the detection coil. The test signal is generated by a circuit including a microcomputer which successively feeds digital values corresponding to the sine function to a digital-to-analog converter, so that the converter generates the test signal in the form of a sine wave. The output signal from the differential amplifier is applied to an analog-to-digital converter.
