  • Patent number: 5605286
Abstract: A nozzle carrier for a windshield washing apparatus has an outer cylinder (1) and a telescoping inner cylinder (2) in the outer cylinder. The inner cylinder has at an end portion thereof a jet nozzle (3) which can be shoved out of the outer cylinder. A first plunger (4) is sealed about its periphery to the outer cylinder and is movable by pressure of washing liquid away from a second plunger (5). In this manner the inner cylinder is shoved out of the outer cylinder. When both cylinders are at their greatest spacing from one another they determine, together with the outer cylinder, a space which serves to receive a particular quantity of washing liquid. Thereafter, the second plunger is urged, by pressure of the washing liquid, toward the first plunger. This causes, after the opening of a valve in series with the jet nozzle, the washing liquid to flow through a passageway (8) of the first plunger toward the jet nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5600941
Abstract: In a two-channel magnetic metal detector for a forage harvester, positive and negative adaptive detection thresholds are varied according to long term changes in the noise component induced in detection coils by moving ferrous parts of the crop feed mechanism. The adaptive detection thresholds are set at levels determined by the positive and negative peak averages of the noise components in the channels while the crop feed mechanism is running at normal speed. Start-up transient noise induced in the detection coil as the crop feed mechanism accelerates may exceed the adaptive thresholds as thus set, thereby triggering false indications that a tramp metal object has been detected in the crop feed path. At start-up of the crop feed mechanism, the detection thresholds are raised to prevent false indications. An increase in a channel noise signal is taken as an indication that the crop feed mechanism is accelerating.

  • Patent number: 5596153
Abstract: An engine delivers torque to a transmission drive shaft through a flywheel and a damper. The damper includes a drive plate attached to the flywheel which is in turn mounted on the engine crankshaft. The damper has two driven plates which are fixed on the transmission drive shaft. The drive plate and driven plates have openings for retaining springs through which torque is transmitted from the drive plate to the driven plates. The flywheel has a plurality of arcuate segments equally spaced apart around a peripheral edge to form a plurality of windows. One of the driven plates has a plurality of radially extending fingers each extending into one of the windows so that gaps exist between each finger and two adjacent arcuate segments. As torque is transmitted through the damper the springs are compressed and the fingers move in the windows.

  • Patent number: 5593708
Abstract: A bending process including both preliminary and following steps takes place in one apparatus. A plastic pipe (6) is heated to a temperature in which it can be plastically deformed. The heated pipe is thereafter shoved into a pipe-shaped bending channel (27) of a bending tool, with the bending tool comprising two dies (9,10), each respectively defining a groove (14,13) which together form the bending channel. Finally, a cooling agent is allowed to flow through the bent pipe which is still in the bending tool. The thusly cooled pipe is removed from the bending tool after the dies are separated from one another. The apparatus to bend the plastic pipe comprises heating, bending, and cooling stations (1,2,3). The heating station comprises two heating fixtures, and the cooling station comprises a supply line (21,22) with a coupling joint (20) which can be coupled to an end of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5585618
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method of manufacture a method of manufacturing a card wherein there is supplied a compressible positioning structure (6), at least one electronic element (8) and a binder (12). The electronic element is positioned in a manner such that it is superposed onto the compressible positioning structure. In a first case, the binder (12) is supplied in liquid form. In another case, such binder is supplied in the form of a solid sheet, which is subsequently at least partially melted by applying energy. With the help of a press, pressure is applied to the various elements as supplied. The electronic element (8) then penetrates the positioning structure (6) and the binder spreads out so as to coat the electronic element (8). Finally there is obtained following solidification a solid card.

  • Patent number: 5570456
Abstract: A controller permits the implementation of at least one fuzzy logic rule. It has a determination circuit of the overall degree of truth of the premisses of the rule and a determination circuit of the value to be supplied at the output. The determination circuit of the overall degree of truth has a plurality of distance determination circuits each supplying a distance value which is equal to zero when a particular condition of the rule is exactly verified, and which is a square-law function of the difference between the input value and the reference value of this condition. A transformation circuit receiving at the input the sum of the distance values for the different conditions delivers a signal representative of the degree of truth of the premisses of the rule.
