Abstract: A coextruded tri-layered medical-surgical tubing for the administration of common medicines such as insulin and nitroglycerin solutions is disclosed. Improved flexibility and uniformity and increased peel strength are obtained by interposing a layer of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer between an outer layer of polyvinyl chloride and a core layer of low-density polyethylene. The composite tubing exhibits excellent fluid flow characteristics and is readily employed in the transportation of intravenous fluids and the like without absorbtion or contamination difficulties.
Abstract: An apparatus for coating and polishing a micropipette for patch recording comprises an inverse microscope having a stage for supporting a micropipette to be processed, and a pair of objectives of relatively low and relatively high magnification, respectively, which are adapted to be selectively placed into the optical path of the microscope. An air gun is positioned to supply an air jet to a pipette supported on the stage, said gun comprising heating means for selectively producing a hot and a cold air jet. An attchment comprising an electricially heatable filament is associated to the objective of relatively high magnification. The micropipette is positioned and coated under observation with the aid of the objective of low magnification and then the coating is cured by applying the hot air jet. Subsequently, the tip of the pipette is polished by the heated filament under observation with the aid of the objective of high magnification.

Abstract: Each player has a board having a number (N) of rows each of which comprises a number of sockets. The number of sockets in the first row is one, the number of sockets in the second row is two, the number of sockets in the third row is three, and so on up to the Nth row, which N sockets. The game is played with a multiplicity of small pieces which fit into the sockets and which, when laid on a table with the proper orientation, reveal one of a number of N of first (or "visible") characteristics, such as color. Each small piece also has one of a number N of second (or "concealable") characteristics, such as color, which may be revealed or concealed, as desired. The small piece is constructed in such a manner that the first characteristic is always viewable whenever the second characteristic is revealed. The game apparatus also includes a die to determine the sequence of play, as well as a number N of small pieces which are wild. The game proceeds in major increments which I call "jousts".
