Abstract: A vertical type screening machine for granular material comprises a housing. A rotary drum assembly is rotatably mounted within the housing and comprises a drum having a substantially vertical rotary axis and a helical blade helically wound around a circumferential surface of the drum. A cylindrical screen member disposed between the drum assembly and the housing cooperates with a peripheral wall of the housing to define therebetween a first chamber and cooperates with the circumferential surface of the drum to define therebetween a second chamber. The granular material to be screened is introduced into the top of the second chamber. Upon the rotation of the drum assemby, the granular material introduced into the top of the second chamber is moved toward the bottom of the second chamber by the helical blade and due to gravity.

Abstract: A controlling method for pulse application to an actuator using a digital controller.A controlling method of an actuator, wherein a deviation is obtained from a command value and its feedback value, the absolute value of said deviation is determined whether it is larger than the minimum reference deviation corresponding to the dead zone, and only when the absolute value of the deviation is larger than the minimum reference deviation, the actuator is driven by a pulse having an application period proportional to the absolute value of the deviation plus a minimum application period stored in the memory of the digital controller. The minimum application period stored in the memory is increased or decreased and renewed depending on the judgement whether the movement volume of the actuator at each pulse application was under, proper or over.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for converting a heavy hydrocarbon oil feedstock to produce a high yield of lower-boiling hydrocarbons, wherein a residuum fraction of the effluent from a hydrogen donor diluent hydrocracking reactor is deasphalted using a low-boiling solvent and at least the highest-boiling fraction of the deasphalted oil is recycled to the hydrogen diluent hydrocracking zone.
Abstract: Methanol is made in a liquid-phase methanol reactor by entraining a methanol-forming catalyst in an inert liquid and contacting said entrained catalyst with a synthesis gas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide.
Abstract: A belt connector device for connecting opposite end portions of a belt to each other to form an endless belt assembly for use in belt type delivery apparatus comprises a mounting assembly which includes a pair of opposed, but spaced side wall members. First and second rollers are rotatably supported by the side wall members and cooperate with each other to define therebetween a gap in substantially parallel to respective axes of the first and second rollers. A drive device is operative to drivingly rotate the first roller to forcibly move, through the gap, the belt opposite end portions received in the gap with the belt opposite end portions being contact with each other in face to face relation, while clamping the belt opposite end portions between the first and second rollers, until the tension applied to the belt reaches a desired value.
Abstract: The invention relates to a new process for producing titanium IV and zirconium IV pyrophosphates, certain of which are new compounds, and their uses. The pyrophosphates are prepared by reacting a metal tetraester with phosphorus pentoxide, with or without the addition of an hydroxyl compound, such as an alcohol or a phenol. Depending on the molar ratio of the components, the compounds produced may contain cyclic or straight chain pyrophosphate groups and alkoxy groups attached to the metallic ion. In addition to forming new compounds, the process of the invention produces the desired products without difficult-to-separate by-products.
Abstract: A building of one of to three levels therein having a curtain wall system for cladding the building. The curtain wall system having an auxiliary framework of the building and having a plurality of infills defining the exterior finish of the building seated in the auxiliary framework with elongated exterior finishing gasket means locking the infills in place.
Abstract: An electrical isolator has an insulated housing with input and output conductors (1, 2) therein. A spring contact (6) is mounted within the housing for movement between open and closed positions. An insulating shroud (15) fully shields that part of the bridging contact accessible through an access opening of the housing. Manually operable pressure applying structure may be operated when the bridging contact is in the closed position to control that contact between a tightened condition applying pressure between the bridging contact and the conductors without the use of springs, and a free condition wherein the contact pressure is reduced. An interlock assembly prevents engagement and disengagement of the operating member with the pressure applying structure unless the bridging contact is located in either the closed or open position.
Abstract: An air filter comprising a first layer of reticulated foam plastic material having a thickness of between 10 mm and 20 mm and a porosity of between 5 and 60 pores to the linear inch, a second layer of reticulated foam plastic material having a thickness of between 6 mm and 10 mm and a porosity of between 60 and 100 pores to the linear inch, and at the interface between said first and second layers an open mesh substrate approximately one millimeter in thickness constricting a maximum of about ten percent of each of the first and second layers, the filter being impregnated with a flame proof retention and plasticizer additive, the first and second layers being bonded together at the interface.
Abstract: A process for preparing a methanolic solution of poly(allylamine) is disclosed, wherein an inorganic acid salt of polyallylamine (e.g. hydrochloride, phosphate or sulfate) is ground into a fine powder, which powder is dispersed in a methanolic solution of caustic alkali (e.g. NaOH or KOH) or ammonia and treated at the temperature of 0.degree. to 65.degree. C. for a period of 10 hours or less.
